Chapter 97: 8. A Familiar Sight

Unbeknownst to herself, Xuefei had transformed from an ignorant little dragon into someone increasingly compliant, gradually blossoming into the picture of a virtuous and gracious wife—though she hadn’t realized it yet.

“Hmph, pretty close. Xuefei looks quite good in women’s clothing, but she still needs her chest to develop if she’s going to pass for a real girl. After all, looks can be deceiving; it’s nothing but empty talk on paper. She has to actually become a girl and give birth to a whole brood of dragon babies for it to count.”

“Fine, fine, but you have to show some restraint. Don’t keep eyeing my belly like that—I still need to go back and hatch them…”

Leia took Xuefei’s hand, her smile blooming like a white rose.

The small village carried a faint rustic charm, with wisps of cooking smoke rising lazily into the air. From atop the hill, one could make out several dark figures strolling along the stone-paved streets and alleys below.

It was an utterly ordinary little town, no different from those Xuefei had seen in the human world. The only distinction was that the residents inevitably sported the horns and small wings typical of the Demon Race—standard features of Dark Filth’s appearance.

In her first playthrough, Xuefei probably would have felt hostility, even fear, toward these people who were several times stronger than ordinary races. But now, especially upon noticing the happiness radiating from their faces, she felt no aversion whatsoever.

In fact… they seemed kind of cute?

As they entered the town, Xuefei realized it was nothing like the backward, primitive place she’d imagined.

Their clothing was relatively plain, but the fabric was of high quality. The everyday lives of the common folk on the streets spoke of prosperity and thriving productivity. Moreover, they all seemed to follow the Demon King and the Dragon King faithfully, with no trace of other creeds—after all, only a true sovereign deserved their devotion.

When the townsfolk spotted them, their expressions held no trace of the wary rejection strangers might expect, nor any instinctive repulsion from an unfamiliar aura. Instead, there was only curiosity and warmth—clear signs of people who had received a proper education. Their courteous manners said as much.

The deeper they ventured into town, the more bustling it became. The buildings favored deep, somber colors, and their rooftops were often designed in sharp, pointed shapes, growing ever more reminiscent of the Demon City in Xuefei’s mind.

Iron Wing Guards stood at their posts, shop cashiers fumbled through transactions in retail stalls, Demon Race youths chased each other in playful scuffles, and mail carriers soared through the skies on widespread wings… Under the perpetually overcast sky, they had all become indispensable fixtures of the landscape.

“Shall we grab a bite? What do you think of that restaurant, Xuefei? If it looks good, let’s eat there.”

Leia pointed ahead to a dining hall that wasn’t particularly opulent but was spotlessly clean. As the sun dipped below the horizon, magical lanterns flickered to life, filling the air with the lively hum of conversation and clinking dishes.

“I’ll go with whatever Leia says.”

Xuefei didn’t notice it herself, but Leia nearly lost control of the feral impulse surging within her at the sight of such ready obedience.

They stepped inside, and the first thing that caught their eye was the lavish menu hanging on the wall, elegantly scripted in fine lettering. It was clear the owner was a woman of refined dignity. In contrast to the modest exterior, the interior was richly decorated, scented with the fresh aroma of ingredients and infused with a serene, elegant atmosphere.

“Is this your way of connecting with the common folk?”

“It counts, I suppose,” Leia said with a sigh. “Though most of the patrons here are the wealthy elite and nobles of Scunu Town.”

“Ah, I see. After days of feasting on delicacies, I almost thought a place like this was the norm.”

Luxury had a way of enveloping you before you knew it, but dragons loved their treasures anyway, so Xuefei simply went with the flow.

Suddenly, spotting the pair’s arrival, the order-taker—a woman in a black apron—adjusted the small hat perched on her head and approached with measured steps.

She led them to a table by the window, gave a slight bow, and tilted her head with a smile, her dimples adding an endearing touch. “What can I get for you two today?”

It was nothing like being waited on hand and foot by maids in the palace, but the ambiance was certainly comfortable. Compared to those long-ago days of scraping by in adventures across the world, dining in a high-end restaurant in the Demon Realm felt like a miracle granted by the gods.

“By the way, you two ladies are absolutely stunning. Are you noble daughters visiting from out of town?”

“Just commoners,” Xuefei replied. She arched a brow, rested her hands on the table, ticked off her selections on the order sheet, and handed it back to the server.

The woman covered her mouth with an embarrassed chuckle.

“But your presence is so extraordinary—I half thought the Demon King herself had come to inspect our little establishment~”

Well…

In a manner of speaking, she wasn’t wrong.

Leia glanced at the server with a smile, then at Xuefei, and grinned mischievously. “What do you think? She’s cute, right?”

“I’m not cute!”

“True… she really is.”

The waitress spoke without thinking, but as she did, she noticed the two girls’ silver-white hair gleaming in the sunlight, along with their stunning features—far surpassing any woman she had ever known. It suddenly hit her that the Dragon King herself had silver hair too.

And she seemed to have a fondness for polishing mirrors… The other one was a little Dragon Clan girl as well.

Still, no matter how she looked at the pair before her, they didn’t resemble the domineering Evil Dragon at all. Sure, there was a certain ambiguous vibe between them on the surface, but… whether they were truly the Dragon King and Dragon Consort would take some careful scrutiny to determine.

“Umph.”

Figuring out bigwigs like that was way beyond a girl like her—one who hadn’t even graduated from the academy yet and was just working part-time.

Right then, the door suddenly swung open.

The waitress’s eyes fell on the Demon Race soldier striding through the entrance.

His lightweight armor caught the light from outside, while the metal fittings on his wings made them look like a pair of steel appendages. Unlike many races that clad themselves head to toe in metal, his gear covered only the joints and wings.

Out of courtesy, she gave a slight bow to Leia and Xuefei before turning away, clearly intending to ask the soldier’s business. But before she could, a cute, bell-like voice rang out from the doorway.

“Waitress! Get me one of every single one of your most expensive dishes!”

Peeking out from behind the soldier with her head slightly lowered was a loli. The frilly dress she wore made her petite frame look even tinier, her pink hair tied into adorable twin tails. At just 150 centimeters tall, she was trying her best to project an aura rivaling that of a Demon beast.

“This young miss finally snagged a gold award! We have to celebrate in style!”

As she declared this, Xuefei noticed the two soldiers ahead of the girl subconsciously rubbing their heads, their faces etched with helpless resignation.

And if it weren’t for the gray-haired butler trailing behind her, offering earnest advice, Xuefei might have mistaken the girl for some pint-sized troublemaker.

The butler adjusted the monocle perched on the right side of her glasses, her face lined with worry.

“Mira, you need to listen to your mother. Stop causing trouble for everyone…”

“Hmph, no way!” Mira planted her hands on her hips, brimming with defiance. “This young miss is going to become the Demon King’s woman someday! Can’t I live a little wild and free?”

Hold on.

Doesn’t this girl look a bit too familiar?

What is the price for abandoning the heroine?

One day, an unfortunate university student, Mo Ran, was transmigrated into the game world "Camiran Continent" and became the male protagonist, the Hero.

"As long as you can defeat the final boss, the Evil Dragon, you can return to the real world," said the god.

Mo Ran was a gaming genius. He quickly adapted to the environment and, leading the Hero's Party, successfully vanquished the Demon King.

But the past was too bitter to recall. Mo Ran defeated the Demon King, but of the entire Hero's Party, including the heroine Leia, only Mo Ran survived to the very end.

"So, are you certain? With no regrets, do you decide to return to your own world?"

The one calling himself a god asked emotionlessly.

"I'm certain."

Mo Ran didn't hesitate for a moment. He had long been yearning for air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and watermelon, and just wanted to leave this godforsaken place.

As a white light enveloped Mo Ran's entire body, the transmigration was a success~

But...

Why did I wake up back in the original world, "Camiran Continent"?!

And what's more, I've turned into a white-haired, red-eyed girl?

Are you kidding me?!

What's even more unbelievable is that the heroine Leia, who died on the battlefield, has now become the very Dragon King I once vanquished!!

"My dear Mo Ran, are you ready to receive my love?"

Dragon King Leia licked her lips.

The price for abandoning the heroine, of course, is turning into a little dragon princess in the second playthrough~
