A first-tier Gentle Breeze Spell—the most useless skill in wind magic.
At its strongest offensive potential, it could tickle an immobilized enemy’s armpit with a feather. The kind of skill you learn because why not, but which is utterly worthless.
That said, the Gentle Breeze Spell wasn’t completely useless. Quite the opposite; in certain aspects, it even outperformed Wind Walk and Tempest.
1. It adds a “Gentle Breeze Buff” to any “unit,” increasing movement speed by about 4%. Negligible at best, it was an ultra-nerfed version of Wind Walk.
2. It could also conjure a literal “gentle breeze” from thin air—yes, a breeze in the literal sense—serving as a hyper-weakened version of Tempest.
The Gentle Breeze Spell ironically combined elements of both Wind Walk and Tempest, acting as both a buff and a control skill.
But that still didn’t change the fact that it was terrible…
However, when this skill fell into Weilin’s hands, it became an entirely different matter.
【Gentle Breeze Buff: Increase your movement speed by 400%. Duration: 100 hours.】
After applying the buff to herself, Weilin used the Gentle Breeze Spell again.
Mana transformed into the wind element, surging violently yet obeying her like an extension of her own limbs, lifting the slender girl’s light body directly into the sky.
The howling gale she stirred was like a dragon passing through the land. Below, the panicked crowds flooding out from Mistlight City’s gates stopped in their tracks, looking up at the sky in shock.
They saw a petite and delicate girl, a figure so fragile she looked as if she might snap under the force of that fierce wind, wrapped in the demonic gale and flying straight towards the Snow Giant in the city’s center…
What was she going to do?
Wait… how was she even flying? The wind was certainly strong, but taking to the skies was just absurd, wasn’t it?!
Through her immense mental power, Weilin could intricately manipulate the wind vortexes created from mana, allowing her to achieve “flight.”
Still, this wasn’t true spatial magic. She could fly, but she couldn’t freely “hover.”
Overlooking the chaos engulfing Mistlight City, the girl riding the wind crossed the city skyline like a graceful swallow, drawing closer and closer to the Snow Giant.
Unable to hover, and wanting to match the Snow Giant’s eye level as much as possible, Weilin chose the tallest tower to fly towards. Her body landed lightly, alighting upon its peak.
The tower was about 60 meters high, but the Snow Giant was a full 100 meters tall. Weilin still had to crane her neck to see Wu Gu, whose body was “rooted” into the top of the giant’s head.
This white giant, over a hundred meters tall, stood upon the ruins of the City Lord’s mansion, its mountain-like, massive body eclipsing most of the sky.
If it remained motionless, its entire body caked in thick layers of snow, any tiny human at its feet would almost mistake it for a snowy mountain.
That was, until the “snowy mountain” opened a pair of enormous, glowing eyes. A pile of snow sliding from its eyelids plummeted from a hundred meters up and crushed a man to death… After that, the upper half of a human body sprouted from the “snowy mountain’s” head. Someone recognized that person as Wu Gu, the Second Prince of the Snow Kingdom and Lord of Mistlight City. At that moment, the entire city fell into utter terror and chaos.
Looking at the giant’s appearance, Weilin was reminded of a certain anime featuring a protagonist named Eren.
As if sensing her gaze, the half-bodied Second Prince slowly opened his eyes, shifting his attention to the source of that composed stare.
And so he saw Weilin.
A girl in a red coat, black pleated skirt, and black knee-high socks stood atop the tallest tower, watching him with icy intent.
“It’s you again…”
Though his voice was laced with irritation and killing intent, it remained eerily calm.
This villain was different. Having transformed into the Snow Giant and gained invincible power, the Second Prince’s handsome face lacked the usual madness and euphoria of a deranged mind.
Even though Wu Gu was now confident that no one in the entire Snow Kingdom, not even Huan Xuezhi, could stop him, he still showed no significant contempt or disdain for Weilin.
For a villain, such shrewdness and temperament could only be described as terrifying.
“Couldn’t you just stay a proper human? Why did you have to turn into this form?” the girl sighed and asked.
“You know as well as I do: the power of humans has its limits.”
“And that’s your reason for picking the Ice Soul Life-Transferring Flower and turning yourself into a monster?”
“Heh heh… I thought you’d be kept in the dark forever. I’m surprised you figured it out so quickly,” the Second Prince laughed heartily.
“Also, before the competition ended, you didn’t fall for my trap of trying to buy a winning amount of Snow Essence with money. That truly surprised me… It seems it’s no wonder that Wu Yin lost his life at your hands. But… if you think I’m anything like that idiot, you are sorely mistaken.”
Weilin leisurely crossed her arms and shook her head. “…I never assumed that. The First Prince constantly tried to flatter and bribe the Federation with money and Demi-Divine Artifacts, but possessed no personal worth to exploit. It’s only natural he would meet such a fate.”
“But you are different… You are a Legendary Mage who comprehended the ancient water magic, ‘Snow Giant,’ which even Huan Xuezhi couldn’t learn. Now, you’ve even transferred your soul and life force into the ‘Snow Giant,’ pushing your mana directly into the Saint Realm. Your life force… is ten times more terrifying than ten Saint-Realm beings combined. Even the Illusory Snow Queen, wielding the power of the Divine Crystal, can do nothing against your incredibly high water-element resistance. With that kind of power, the Empire will want to win you over, maybe even curry favor with you slightly… That’s what you’re thinking, right?” Weilin narrowed her eyes.
“…Damn you, you’ve said everything I was about to say.” Wu Gu’s eyes flickered with a dark light as he gritted his teeth in hatred.
“But Wu Yin was your own big brother, at the very least. Calling him an idiot… isn’t that a bit too rude?”
She had foiled his schemes several times, hit the nail on the head regarding his innermost thoughts… and on top of that, the girl wore a faintly mocking smile. Even facing a Snow Giant of such colossal stature, she retained a calm and composed demeanor. All of this ignited a huge, nameless rage within Wu Gu.
“…Annoying… bug! Die!”
Just like the Snow Giant’s hand he had summoned in the Snow Demon Lair, this time, it was a complete Snow Giant’s palm. It fell from the sky above Weilin, a deathly shadow eclipsing the heavens!
But how could such a slow attack possibly hit Weilin?
The blow, powerful enough to shatter mountains, pulverized the top of the tall tower. Countless pieces of rubble collapsed and fell. Fortunately, everyone within a twenty-mile radius around the Snow Giant had long since fled, or else many would have suffered.
As for Weilin, she had already teleported away before the giant palm struck.
“What–!”
On the Second Prince’s horrified, paling face, a searing, lava-like, incandescently bright flame lonnnng sword slashed through the air, rapidly magnifying in his pupils.
…No, it was more like a beam of flame, intensely condensed and of unknown length, than a sword! It was slashing downwards at incredible speed towards his upper body, which was exposed from the giant’s head…!
Ssshhhh!
Wu Gu’s fragile upper body—still human, still that of a mage—was vertically torn in half by the cutting flames. The fire clung to the separated halves like a haunting parasite, burning as brains, blood, and viscera continuously gushed out…
“AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!”
