Chapter 251: Soft Bunny Hand Feel
While waiting for the descended A4 to arrive, Lin Jiayao had a rare moment of rest.
The Research Lab was still researching, the training ground couldn’t simulate A-rank evolution, the login location was currently occupied by the descended body, and the Black Stem Fungus’s egg production was nearing its limit…
For a while, Lin Jiayao didn’t know what to do.
Her mental power now far surpassed that of an average B-rank Awakened. Even at night, or after a fierce battle, her mind was still sharp.
In other words, she couldn’t sleep, and there was no need to.
Lin Jiayao, lying in bed, looked at the quilt covering her and fell into thought.
The area around Kun City was safe, the safety of Chongyu City, located inland, went without saying, and there were no signs of seabed zombies landing in the northern waters…
After much deliberation, Lin Jiayao finally thought of something she could do.
She finally had time to make weapons for her sister and Huayibai using the A-rank carapace.
Lin Jiayao got out of bed and sat up, leaning against the headboard.
“What’s wrong?” Lin Xiwan, who was taking off her jacket and preparing to get into bed, saw her sister suddenly sit up and asked curiously.
Lin Xiwan didn’t really need much sleep either. She simply enjoyed holding her soft, fragrant sister; it was comforting and made her happy.
“The weapons I mentioned before, I’ll make them for you,” Lin Jiayao said, looking at her sister. “I have time now.”
“Weapons? Now?” Lin Xiwan put her jacket back on and casually asked, “Don’t you want to rest for a while?”
“I’m not tired.” Lin Jiayao shook her head and opened her arms towards her sister.
“Wait a minute, it’s a little cold at night.” Lin Xiwan turned and opened the door to the walk-in closet, stepping inside.
Lin Jiayao saw that the closet, which had been filled with dust, bloodstains, and tattered clothes, was now spotless.
The space inside was even packed with neatly sealed clothes.
Lin Xiwan quickly retrieved a large, white sports jacket and put it on Lin Jiayao.
Supporting her sister’s bottom with one hand and her back with the other, Lin Xiwan lifted her into her arms.
“Where are we going?” Lin Xiwan asked, looking at her sister in her arms.
“Let’s go to where the fragments are first.”
“Okay.”
Huayibai was lying on the bed, seemingly unaware of Lin Jiayao’s departure, just rolling over.
As Lin Xiwan carried Lin Jiayao past the vine curtains, they both saw the Black Stem Fungus squatting outside, peeking in.
It had been huddled there, head in its hands, during the bonfire in the garden. Now that the fire was out, it had recovered slightly and seemed less afraid.
After a moment of thought, Lin Jiayao beckoned to the Black Stem Fungus, signaling it to follow.
Lin Xiwan didn’t notice her sister’s small gesture. Hearing the soft footsteps behind them, she turned her head curiously.
“Let it follow, it can help,” Lin Jiayao explained. “Since it’s idle anyway, it might as well learn how to clean and do housework, so you don’t have to bother, Sister.”
“It?” Lin Xiwan looked at the Black Stem Fungus, which was now walking more smoothly, and blinked. “Can it even do that?”
Judging by her expression, Lin Xiwan didn’t think the Black Stem Fungus, which could barely walk, could handle “housework.”
“It’s a quick learner,” Lin Jiayao said.
Lin Jiayao had been having the mycelium flesh-person walk with it, and in just over an hour, it had gone from barely being able to walk to being able to jog.
For a fungus not known for its mobility, this was quite impressive.
Soon, Lin Xiwan carried Lin Jiayao to the pile of A-rank carapace fragments.
Due to Lin Xiwan’s earlier all-out attack, the originally large piece of carapace was now broken into several smaller pieces.
Her sister had said she wanted gloves… and for Huayibai, something fireproof to compensate for her weakness…
Lin Jiayao looked at the materials on the ground, frowning in thought.
For the gloves, she first needed to find a suitable base glove and then add a soft, comfortable, and impact-resistant filling material.
Lin Jiayao controlled the little green bugs to search throughout Kun City. Soon, they found a suitable pair of new gloves.
A group of green fluorescent bugs, carrying a pair of black cycling gloves, flew to Lin Jiayao and placed the gloves in her hands.
She would try with a small piece first.
Lin Jiayao put the gloves into the Workbench in the Hideout, and then her sister brought her a fist-sized piece of carapace.
She put both items into the Workbench, but this time, it didn’t display any processing time.
It seemed the system considered this level of modification instantaneous.
Just as well; it saved Lin Jiayao the wait.
Lin Jiayao clicked “Fuse,” retrieved the finished product, placed it in the warehouse, and then retrieved the fused gloves.
A pair of black gloves with spikes on the knuckles appeared before Lin Jiayao.
Undoubtedly, those black carapace spikes were added by the system.
She just didn’t know how the system managed to seamlessly fuse these two inanimate objects.
Lin Jiayao handed the gloves to her sister. “Try them on?”
She would see if her sister found any issues after trying them on, and then make adjustments accordingly.
At the very least, they had to enhance her combat power, not weaken it.
“Okay, I’ll try…” Lin Xiwan looked around and found a vine-covered bench.
She carried Lin Jiayao, placed her on the bench, and then took the gloves.
They looked thick and felt slightly cool to the touch.
Except for the joints, the gloves were covered with thin carapace plates, giving them the feel of gauntlets.
Lin Xiwan put on the right glove and frowned slightly.
She noticed that the carapace plates weren’t on top of the gloves, but had, rather disturbingly, pierced through them.
This meant that Lin Xiwan’s hand wasn’t directly touching the soft, knitted fabric, but the cold carapace plates.
Slightly opening and closing her hand, she felt a slight stiffness.
Lin Xiwan looked around, but couldn’t find a suitable target, so she half-knelt and punched the concrete floor.
“Thump—”
Lin Xiwan didn’t use much force, but a small crater appeared on the concrete floor, sending fragments flying.
Taking off the glove, Lin Xiwan dusted it off and held out her hand to Lin Jiayao. “It’s a bit rough.”
Lin Jiayao took her sister’s hand and rubbed the reddened areas.
The gloves didn’t provide any shock absorption or cushioning at all. They were even worse than bare hands for protecting Lin Xiwan’s hand.
“I’ll think about it…” Lin Jiayao pondered as she massaged her sister’s hand.
A soft, elastic, comfortable, and impact-resistant material…
As she thought, Lin Jiayao’s gaze involuntarily drifted towards her sister’s chest, then quickly averted, looking down at her own… less-than-ample bosom.
Mycelium would be a good option… but mycelium was a living organism; it had to be “killed” before it could be placed in the Item Storage Box.
After being killed, mycelium would dry into a powder-like substance, losing its softness and comfort.
No, wait, the Workbench could create living things.
Lin Jiayao thought of the tentacle-shooting gun.
Then let’s add some mycelium and see.
Lin Jiayao released her sister’s hand and extended her own right hand.
A cluster of mycelium sprouted from her palm, and a sharp bone blade emerged from her left arm.
“Ding—”
The sharp, sturdy bone blade snapped open like a mantis’s foreleg, instantly severing the mycelium extending from Lin Jiayao’s palm.
“Eh?!” Seeing her sister’s self-harming action, Lin Xiwan’s heart skipped a beat, but she didn’t stop her.
Although she felt distressed, this was her sister’s own decision. It was best not to interfere without understanding the situation.
The severed mycelium, dripping with blood, twitched in Lin Jiayao’s right hand.
Not wanting to waste the blood, Lin Jiayao took her sister’s hand and, like applying ointment, smeared the blood onto the slightly bruised areas.
Soon, the twitching mycelium lost its vitality and drooped, gradually hardening.
Lin Jiayao then tossed the mycelium into the Item Storage Box.
Putting the gloves back into the warehouse, Lin Jiayao asked the Black Stem Fungus for another fist-sized piece of A-rank carapace, and, along with the gloves and the mycelium remains, put them into the Workbench.
Again, the Workbench didn’t display any processing time.
“System, is there a bug?” Lin Jiayao casually asked mentally.
“[Due to the overall level increase of the [Hideout], the system’s processing power allocated to the [Hideout] has also increased.]”
“[This additional processing power will greatly reduce the speed of manufacturing, research, and other functions besides upgrading system creations.]”
So there were such benefits to increasing the overall level of the system buildings?
The system had actually done something good. She wouldn’t exploit it so ruthlessly next time.
Fuse.
Gloves, mycelium, carapace. The three items fused in the Workbench, the process instantaneous.
Lin Jiayao retrieved the new gloves.
This time, the gloves looked much better than before.
The originally thick gloves were now thinner and lighter.
Instead of gauntlets, they now resembled black butler gloves with black carapace plates attached.
“These?” Lin Xiwan took the new gloves, her expression and tone clearly questioning.
These gloves looked very thin… they seemed like thin gloves with leather patches, just more finely crafted, without any visible seams, as if molded as a single piece.
And the material inside the gloves had become red fluff, soft and smooth to the touch.
Like stroking a beautiful girl’s smooth skin, the feel was incredibly pleasant.
This sensation became even more pronounced after Lin Xiwan put on the gloves.
A warm, snug feeling, every slight movement of her fingers met with a soft caress.
It was like constantly holding a perfectly sized, soft, white rabbit in her hand.
She didn’t want to take them off.
But as she slightly clenched her fist, Lin Xiwan felt a sharp pain.
“Hiss…” Lin Xiwan gasped, instinctively trying to pull off the gloves, but they seemed to have become part of her skin, refusing to budge no matter how hard she pulled.
It felt like a dull knife was continuously cutting into her palm, the pleasant sensation coexisting with the pain.
Like squeezing a soft bunny only to find blades hidden within.
She could feel something piercing through her skin and into her palm, connecting to something within.
Soon, Lin Xiwan could no longer feel the gloves.
As the pain subsided, the gloves felt like they had always been a part of her, and she even vaguely sensed their purpose.
She took out half a Blood Crystal from her waist pouch, held it in her gloved hand, and slowly crushed it.
“Crack—”
With a crisp sound, the Blood Crystal shattered in her palm, and red mycelium erupted from the black leather of the gloves, devouring the fragments.
The entire black glove swelled like a balloon.
“Shing—” Sharp carapace blades emerged from the back of her hand as she willed it, protecting the back of her hand while slightly extending from her knuckles.
Lin Xiwan experimentally punched the ground.
“Boom—”
A small crater appeared on the ground, marked with four puncture marks.
And the gloves were spotless, Lin Xiwan’s hand feeling no pain.
“Good stuff.” Lin Xiwan looked at the expanded, blade-like gloves and nodded slightly.
These gloves could definitely enhance her close-combat abilities.
“If you need any other functions, just bring the gloves to me, like just now, and think about what materials you need.”
Lin Jiayao said, watching her sister’s fascination with the gloves.
“Materials?” Lin Xiwan thought about the so-called materials.
That red fluff, which gave her that pleasant sensation, seemed to be her sister’s flesh and blood…
So, the sensation she felt was like touching her sister.
To put it more abstractly, it was like she was constantly holding her sister’s breasts while fighting.
Just the thought made her fighting spirit surge.
Now Lin Xiwan loved these gloves even more.
Ignoring her sister, who was now engrossed in studying the gloves, Lin Jiayao turned her attention back to the pile of materials.
Next, it was time to make Huayibai’s weapon.
It needed to be fireproof, preferably able to assist in spraying and spreading spores, and it had to use A-rank materials…
Gradually, Lin Jiayao formed an idea for Huayibai’s weapon.
The little green bugs flitted through the city, searching for the base materials.
An umbrella, an air pump, a syringe and some tubing, and a precision sniper rifle.
Lin Jiayao chose an umbrella as the main form, as Huayibai seemed quite fond of umbrella caps.
It wasn’t suitable for Huayibai to constantly hold an umbrella in her human form, so an umbrella-shaped weapon was perfect.
Within half an hour, the little green bugs piled these items before Lin Jiayao.
One more thing was needed.
Lin Jiayao looked around, her gaze settling on a white mass hanging from a nearby branch, secretly observing them.
Huayibai’s friend, the C-rank fire-extinguishing fungus with a black body and a white cap and stem.
“Bring that to me,” Lin Jiayao commanded the Black Stem.
Now, the Black Stem Fungus could roughly understand Lin Jiayao’s simple commands even without Blood Crystal Synergist.
This was also related to the Blood Orb spores Lin Jiayao had implanted in it. This was how she communicated with Huayibai before.
The Black Stem Fungus didn’t nod or make any other humanoid gestures, but simply turned and, arms outstretched, ran towards the white fungal mass.
Then, with a “thump,” it face-planted onto the ground.
The Black Stem Fungus, covered in dirt from its fall, picked up the white fungal cluster and ran back to Lin Jiayao.
The white fungus trembled incessantly.
Perhaps, in its eyes, the beings around it were terrifying “demons,” far stronger than itself, not only invading its territory, but also exuding malice.
“I’ll borrow some.” Lin Jiayao reached out, tore off a large chunk of mycelium from the mass, crushed it in her hand, and placed it in the Item Storage Box.
Looking at the trembling fungus, Lin Jiayao, although not feeling guilty, decided to offer some compensation, considering it was Huayibai’s friend.
Lin Jiayao thought for a moment and looked at her Blood Crystal Box.
It was filled with whole Blood Crystals.
Lin Jiayao looked up at her sister and asked, “Sister, do you have any Blood Crystal fragments?”
“Yes.” Lin Xiwan rummaged through her waist pouch and found a fingernail-sized Blood Crystal fragment, perhaps less than ten grams, and handed it to her sister.
Lin Jiayao took the Blood Crystal fragment, tossed it onto the trembling fungal mass, and waved her hand. “Go.”
Whether it understood her words or her gesture, the fluffy white mycelium, carrying the small Blood Crystal fragment on its head, scurried away.
With this fungus as a fireproofing layer, there shouldn’t be any problems.
Next, she would put these things into the Workbench in order…
As Lin Jiayao added the items to the Workbench, a strange white umbrella with a black handle, black umbrella ribs, mycelium tubes, and a trigger slowly materialized before her eyes.
