Chapter 106: Just Kidding
This was an act of revenge.
She had tolerated these fans for three years, patiently warning them against causing trouble.
An idol’s reputation was affected by their fans’ actions, a simple principle everyone understood, except for these crystallized fans.
They stubbornly believed their idol was above all else, constantly clashing with other fan groups, boasting about Konjou’s talent and character.
At first, people agreed, but over time, their constant, widespread presence had poisoned the environment, turning them into universally despised pests.
“Listen… this is real, I’m not joking. Lena and I will be engaged next week, after the concert. I hope you can all come to my performance.”
Her voice was soft and sweet, like fresh buds after a spring rain.
But the crystallized fans didn’t care.
The front row fans were the first to react, their eyes wide, their bodies twitching as if in pain.
“Why are you abandoning us?! We’ve always supported you! My angel!!”
They roared.
A middle-aged man covered his ears, his contorted face the only sign of his resistance, seemingly unaware of how foolish he looked.
More and more joined the childish tantrum.
They trashed the venue, destroying the stage, venting their anger, trying to prove how much Angel meant to them.
How could their angel fall from grace?!
It must be that woman named Lena! It had to be her!!
Angel’s expression was filled with regret.
It had failed.
Her words had no effect, and further persuasion would only make things worse.
She had hoped to control the situation, hoping for a mutually beneficial resolution.
But she had overestimated her influence.
“Lena…” Angel whispered the name that could solve all her problems.
“Time for me to make my entrance?” Lena’s voice cut through the noise, reaching Angel’s heart.
“You’re finally here, I was almost devoured alive… can you hurry up and resolve this? They can’t continue like this, someone will get hurt.” Angel hadn’t forgotten her responsibility as an idol, her conscience wouldn’t allow it.
A responsible idol cared for her fans; she had to calm the chaos.
“What’s in it for me?”
Lena stomped her foot, corrupted earth appearing, black mist swirling.
Rank four Abominations, one after another, emerged from the ground.
Their massive, siege-level bodies, like ice mammoths, charged towards the crowd, herding them like sheep, blocking all exits, their rusty hooks and chains a terrifying deterrent.
“Ah! M-monsters! Why are there monsters here?!”
“Help!!”
“Don’t eat me, I have STDs, you’ll get a stomachache!”
The Abominations’ appearance only intensified the chaos.
The crystallized fans’ frenzy turned to fear in an instant, their fear turning to submission at the sight of the gruesome creatures and their massive blades.
“Grrr!”
An Abomination opened its maw, pus dripping from its mouth, its rancid breath making their skin crawl.
The fans trembled, their previous aggression gone…
“Done.”
Lena dusted off her shoulders, a smug smile on her face.
“Not a single one escaped, not a single one injured, perfect.”
“But you scared them…”
“So what? That’s their problem.” Lena tapped her chin thoughtfully, a habitual gesture. “Besides, isn’t this what you wanted?”
Tell me, are you satisfied?
Satisfied, of course she was satisfied. Angel had almost peed herself from fright.
Who knew Lena could summon so many monsters?
One, two, three, four… seven undead creatures, all rank four. Was this Lena’s hidden power?
“Don’t even think about it, you can’t learn this.”
“I can change professions…”
“What?”
“Nothing, forget I said anything.” Angel sensed Lena’s murderous gaze, seemingly triggered by the mention of changing professions.
Everyone had one chance to change professions, but the choices were limited, requiring specific monster materials and high-level alchemy to erase the original profession’s mark, then redesigning the desired profession.
The process was risky; a single mistake could render it useless, even losing the original profession.
So, most people didn’t bother.
They either didn’t trust alchemy or were too conservative, unable to accept such new concepts…
“What should we do with these fans?”
Bury them or feed them to the ghouls? Lena was ready for a corpse party.
“What are you thinking? Release them, of course.”
Angel wouldn’t let Lena have her way, wrinkling her nose. “Do you want this place to become a slaughterhouse? I still have a concert to perform, you have to consider your future wife’s reputation. Besides, your mother said, you make the big decisions, and I make the small ones.”
“I think them threatening your life is a big deal.”
“No way!”
“Then release them?”
“Yes, all of them!”
“Understood.”
Lena wouldn’t have asked Angel’s opinion if she truly wanted to kill them; she was just teasing her, gauging her reaction, which seemed quite satisfactory.
It was quite amusing, like teasing a little wife~
Wait!
Strange, when had she started thinking of Angel as her actual wife? Weren’t they just acting?
“Listen up, the Falmouths demand you stand up straight!”
Lena’s smile was laced with menace, a chilling wind sweeping through the venue, making the fans tremble, their hands and feet turning pale.
“From now on, Angel Cavendish is my wife, Lena Falmouth’s. If anything like this happens again, you won’t just end up in an Abomination’s stomach.”
“If you understand, get out, one by one, take your brains with you, and forget everything that happened here. Oh, and all of you better come to next week’s concert. If I find out anyone is missing, hmph!”
No one dared to object.
They nodded vigorously, retreating in an orderly fashion, their faces pale, the relief of surviving evident…
…
“How will you reward me?”
“A kiss?”
“That’s acceptable, but I not only solved your crazy fan problem, but also taught them a lesson. I know you enjoyed it, you were smiling the most when the Abominations scared them,” Lena teased, her gaze gentle.
Angel blinked. “So you want me to express my gratitude now, right?”
“I was waiting for you to say that, hehehe~”
Angel touched her lips, murmuring, “Don’t tell me you’ve fallen for me, we’re just pretending to be wives, it’s not a real relationship.”
“…You just mentioned one of life’s three biggest illusions.”
“What?”
“You said I like you.”
“Say that again?”
“I like you.”
Lena spoke frankly, looking at the boiling kettle, then smiled. “Just kidding.”
