87. Raising the Sun
If it were just the Beast King, Reina wouldn’t be afraid at all.
Level 100 wasn’t an insurmountable hurdle. If the Beast King insisted on fighting to the death, Reina was even confident she could defeat him alone.
But the presence of Phantom Dragon and the Beast King’s actual level made her slightly worried.
Although she had recorded Phantom Dragon’s attack patterns from Calysia, she had never witnessed his skills firsthand and could only imagine them.
“Phantom Dragon, I’m warning you, don’t interfere, or I’ll kill you, damn it!”
The Beast King cursed, the muscles on his face contorted, his voice grating. If she had to describe it, it was like listening to thunder and lightning up close.
Phantom Dragon remained silent, noncommittal.
Facing the Beast King, Reina wanted to immediately retract her previous arrogant thoughts.
The Beast King wasn’t an easy opponent to deal with.
“Bang—!”
The Beast King didn’t give Reina any time to react. A swift punch stopped just centimeters before Reina, blocked by her gravity shield.
The powerful shockwave sent Reina flying thousands of meters again, from the east wall of Eisentapha Fortress to the western platform. She spread her wings, using the recoil to fly down from the fortress, gliding along the edge of the cliff.
A bolt of lightning followed close behind.
“Bang—”
The Beast King’s charged punch created a deep crater in the wall behind Reina.
Level 32.
Reina continued to accelerate, but the lightning pursued relentlessly, like a giant lightning python hunting a bird. The rocks, damaged by the repeated attacks, began to crumble, causing a landslide.
Reina flew out of the smoke and dust, using the debris and smoke as cover to fly in the opposite direction, successfully escaping the Beast King’s sight.
Seeing that he had lost track of her, the Beast King immediately changed direction, flying like a cannonball, leaving a trail of destruction in his wake, the landscape scarred by shockwaves and magic fluctuations, like a destructive god descending upon the world, treating it as a mere plaything.
Just then, Reina landed on the cliff, her clothes tattered.
“[Thunderclap Fist]”
The Beast King transformed into a meteor, pouncing on Reina like a tiger, destructive lightning power converging in his arm as he aimed for her face.
Reina turned, one hand already having conjured a gravity sphere like a black hole, unnoticed by the Beast King.
She had been waiting for this opportunity.
“[Gravity Reversal]”
A skill that used gravity to interrupt the opponent’s attack before it could land.
If the opponent used magic, there was a high probability of perfectly reflecting the attack.
It was extremely effective against wide, powerful attacks.
“Boom—!”
The two forces collided, momentarily evenly matched.
Gravity and lightning clashed like two raging spirits, creating a kilometer-wide crater on the cliff. Then, the cliffs surrounding Eisentapha began to crumble and fall, emitting a dull rumble. The previous exchange had only taken a dozen seconds.
From now on, the map of the Eisentapha region would have to be redrawn.
Reina’s entire arm was numb, aching slightly.
Level 34.
Her Light level increased again, and Reina’s injuries quickly healed at a noticeable speed.
[Eternal Golden Radiance]
If she survived an attack, her injuries would heal, her Light level would increase, and she would gain 80% resistance to that skill.
The healing and level increase were based on the strength of the opponent’s attack.
And this one attack had raised her level by 2.
“Hahaha—!”
The Beast King laughed. He was also injured, like Reina, but his injuries were clearly more severe.
His right arm was dripping with blood, and one of his eyes was temporarily blinded due to the damage to the right side of his body, looking somewhat disheveled, but it didn’t affect his movements.
He said excitedly:
“You’re truly strong, Azure Scale!”
Reina looked up and exhaled.
Just now, she had completely reflected the Beast King’s attack, yet it only managed to disable one of his arms. What terrifying news was this?
It meant that most of Reina’s attack methods couldn’t harm the Beast King.
The level gap was too large.
Reina was currently level 106.
And the Beast King, what level was he?
Could he be above level 100, like Calysia?
Could he be using a Goddess’s Treasure?
But there was no sign of him using any…
“Boom—!”
While she was thinking, Eisentapha Fortress erupted in a violent explosion, like a volcano.
Yellowish-brown magic power formed a bridge reaching towards the sky, the entire world dyed in this terrifying color.
“Are you all crazy?!”
The Beast King used his left hand to staunch the bleeding from his injured right arm, the sight making Reina’s right hand ache again. And the more pain she felt, the more excited this battle maniac became.
Reina asked seriously:
“Who is Phantom Dragon?”
“That arrogant fool who claims to have chosen the correct path, what, you don’t know? Hahaha…”
The Beast King crouched down, and Reina had no reason to attack. She was still thinking about how to injure the Beast King.
“The Dragon King’s confidante, he defected to me over twenty years ago. Now, he’s my strongest subordinate. Why do you think I sent him to attack the meeting?”
Reina froze.
Yes, she had just overlooked a serious problem.
[Silent Golden Statue], [Grieving Feather Statue], [Joyful Sinking Statue].
Although they had used Goddess’s Treasures, they weren’t as powerful as she had imagined.
And the Beast King himself wasn’t carrying any Goddess’s Treasures!
Then, who possessed those Goddess’s Treasures?
Phantom Dragon.
Could Phantom Dragon, with the Goddess’s Treasures, defeat the Azure Scale Knights, the three Demon Moons, and the two Kings of the Realms?
Reina realized that she was actually starting to worry about the battle.
“Let’s continue!”
At this moment, the Beast King bounced up, his left hand in a fighting stance, even the loss of one arm not affecting his imposing presence at all.
Reina closed her eyes and muttered something softly.
Good, it was nearby.
It was time.
While the orcs and humans were in a tense standoff, in a deserted open space, a young woman in a black and white cloak slowly raised her hands. Instantly, pure golden magic began to rise around her, like white willow catkins, carrying golden phantoms towards the sky.
Like thousands of fireflies ascending.
As the “fireflies” rose into the sky, they absorbed magic power from the air and expanded. Upon reaching the sky, they attracted and condensed with each other, forming a giant sphere of light above Eisentapha.
Like a real sun rising.
The Saintess, standing on a distant cliff, was stunned.
Seeing the sun above her, she first knelt on both knees, muttering something. A few seconds later, she stood up.
“That is the guidance of the Goddess of Light.”
“All forces, attack!”
