Chapter 51: CEO Xi, the Master of Hope
Thinking of this, Huo Wannian’s confidence returned. He pulled out a pistol and pressed it against the girl’s head. “Serve me well.”
“Don’t kill me! I will, I will!”
Huo Wannian closed his eyes and enjoyed himself. No one knew that the gun was empty; he had used up all the bullets at the police station.
But it was this empty gun that kept his men and women in line.
At seven in the evening, Tang Ze, holding An Bai’s hand, arrived at the underground parking garage. A jealous Sun Ting followed behind, and Ye Qingyi scanned their surroundings, noticing the men’s gazes on them.
Compared to these looks of lust, she preferred the fear and terror in the eyes of the men at the gas station.
“Wash my car for 10,000 yuan!”
A man wearing sunglasses waved a stack of red banknotes. A Rolls-Royce was parked beside him.
“Boss, I’ll do it!”
“Me! Me!”
“Don’t fight with me!”
Five or six men rushed forward, even arguing amongst themselves.
“Wow, money is still useful.”
An Bai was surprised. She thought money was useless now.
Ye Qingyi said calmly, “They still think this is temporary.”
Tang Ze murmured, “10,000 yuan to wash a car? I’m tempted.”
“Bai, go help them wash.”
Tang Ze chuckled and pinched An Bai’s soft cheek. Their skin seemed to have improved. Could it be from absorbing my… essence? Does applying it to the face have that effect?
“Brother, got any more cigarettes?”
Luo Jun suddenly appeared beside him, smiling.
Tang Ze paused and took out his pack. Only one left.
“Never mind, keep it for yourself.”
Luo Jun patted Tang Ze’s shoulder and smiled.
Tang Ze offered it to him. “I rarely smoke anyway. Here you go.”
Luo Jun couldn’t resist. He had shared his last cigarette with several others and savored every puff like a luxury.
“Brother, if you need anything, just come find me.”
He took the cigarette gratefully.
Tang Ze asked curiously, “What’s going on here? A stage? A speech?”
“CEO Xi is giving everyone hope, encouraging them to come out and socialize, to relieve stress.”
“I see.”
Tang Ze thought, Isn’t this just giving them false hope?
Luo Jun sighed. “CEO Xi is a good person. I hope this crisis ends soon, or everyone will break down.”
Sharing a whole case of water, Tang Ze thought she was a saint. No one in his complex would have been so generous.
“Who’s that beauty?”
Tang Ze looked at a woman in a professional outfit: a shirt, tie, black skirt, and stockings.
Not top-tier, but acceptable.
Luo Jun was a bit surprised. He was with his girlfriend, yet asking about other women?
But for the sake of a cigarette, he answered, “That’s Feng Mengmeng, CEO Xi’s secretary.”
“A secretary can afford to live here?”
Tang Ze thought secretaries must be well-paid.
“She doesn’t live here. She was working late at CEO Xi’s apartment that night, then the rain started, and she couldn’t go back. I heard her complex is in chaos.”
Tang Ze responded with a drawn-out “oh.” As more people arrived, he didn’t see any other exceptional beauties. Even someone like Feng Mengmeng was rare, let alone someone like CEO Xi.
Are there so few beautiful women in a rich people’s complex? Where are the celebrities and campus belles?
His enthusiasm for hunting beauties waned. If it wasn’t for CEO Xi, he wouldn’t even bother.
Sun Ting, observing from the side, was relieved. Not many women caught Tang Ze’s eye. Even with Xi Meng, there were only two.
Finally, Xi Meng emerged from the elevator. She was striking, her alluring figure captivating, a mature beauty like a ripe peach.
A man followed behind her, and Tang Ze asked curiously, “Who’s that man?”
“That’s CEO Xi’s husband, Fu Qi.”
Oh, she’s married.
Time for some Cao Cao tactics.
Standing on the stage, Xi Meng spoke into a megaphone. “Residents, is everyone here?”
They looked around, counting heads.
“CEO Xi, Lao Bi isn’t here.”
Xi Meng frowned. “Call him and tell him to come down! He has no sense of time!”
But no one answered the phone. Tang Ze stood in the crowd, smiling.
“Go get him.”
“Okay.”
A while later, a man returned, looking frustrated. “CEO Xi, he’s not opening the door.”
This was a direct challenge to Xi Meng’s authority. If one person got away with it, others would follow. She had to make an example.
“Break down the door! I want to see what he’s doing! Keeping a mistress and skipping the meeting!”
Tang Ze chuckled. “So everyone knows that fatso has a mistress.”
“Master, how did you know?”
An Bai whispered curiously.
“I’m not telling you.”
“Hmph~” An Bai’s coquettish voice was incredibly seductive, making Tang Ze want to pull her aside for a quickie.
If An Bai died now, he would be sad for four days, that’s all.
Soon, a few men rushed back. “CEO Xi, it’s bad! Bi Jian is dead!”
This shocked everyone. Someone had died in their peaceful complex?
“Dead? How? Was he murdered?”
Xi Meng asked in a deep voice.
The men exchanged glances.
“Tell me!”
“Bi Jian and his mistress were dead in bed. He had strangled her, and Bi Jian himself seemed to have died of a heart attack.”
The crowd murmured. That fatso probably died from some kinky activity.
An Bai finally understood. So that’s what happened.
Xi Meng was relieved. She had thought it was murder. That Bi Jian had always been sneaky and untrustworthy. Good riddance.
“Also, CEO Xi, the surveillance system seems to be down, no video feed.”
The crowd erupted in speculation.
“Quiet!”
Xi Meng’s command silenced them.
“Today marks one month since the disaster began. For the past month, we’ve worked together to overcome this difficult time. We must continue to do so. I believe that soon, this disaster will pass, and we’ll return to our normal lives.”
Tang Ze almost fell asleep listening to her speech. So this was her nightly motivational talk. The more hope she instilled, the more violent the eventual riot would be.
“CEO Xi, how much longer?”
Someone in the crowd shouted.
All eyes were on Xi Meng.
She smiled. “Everyone, I’m not going to lie. I received news today that rescue could arrive as early as next month.”
