Chapter 59: You’re So Gossipy
Composing herself, Xi Meng returned home. Fu Qi was sitting on the sofa watching a movie. “Where have you been? Don’t go out if you have a cold.”
Xi Meng said softly, “Nowhere, just getting some fresh air in the stairwell.”
“I’m a little hungry. Get me something to eat.”
Xi Meng said with a sigh. She was hungry too.
Forget it, just pretend I was bitten by a dog. As long as I kill Huo Wannian, it’s worth it.
Tang Ze didn’t return to his own apartment until after midnight.
He was greeted by three pairs of pleading eyes.
Oops, I was so busy having fun, I forgot to prepare dinner for them.
He recounted the evening’s events, and the three women were stunned. His new “Garage God of War” title was already paying dividends. If he wanted to, he could have any of those women.
“Master is amazing! It hasn’t even been that long!”
An Bai snuggled up to him like a kitten.
Sun Ting teased, “So who will win the bet? Will CEO Xi leave?”
Ye Qingyi frowned, anxious about the wager. If she lost, no one would rescue Yueyue.
“Master, have you figured out a way to make CEO Xi decide?”
Sun Ting asked curiously.
“Of course, but it’s a secret for now. You’ll know soon enough.”
Tang Ze’s mysteriousness only piqued their curiosity. But no matter how much they pleaded, he wouldn’t tell. His heart was as hard as a stone; their charms wouldn’t melt it.
The next morning, Tang Ze was awakened by a call from Xi Meng.
“Sister Xi, missing me so early?”
He yawned. He had worked overtime last night. These gossipy women were a handful.
“Missing you, my foot! Get up here!”
“Alright, alright.”
Tang Ze, still yawning, went upstairs and rang the doorbell. Feng Mengmeng opened the door, her heart pounding when she saw him. It was clear she was attracted to his raw power.
“CEO Xi, I’ll be leaving now.”
Feng Mengmeng gave Tang Ze a meaningful look, which he understood.
Inside, Xi Meng put down her phone and said in a low voice, “I’ve already arranged the meeting with Mr. Huo.”
Tang Ze smiled and sat beside her. “Just like that?”
Xi Meng felt like she was the one being taken for a ride. His tone suggested he wanted more from her. No such luck. He had gotten enough.
She hadn’t planned to move so quickly, but she had to. She said sternly, “I’ve arranged to meet him tonight, at the Xinhua Bookstore on Baoyuan Road. I need you to go there ahead of time and eliminate any potential threats.”
“What perfume are you wearing today, sister? It smells so good.”
“I’m talking to you, did you hear me?!”
Xi Meng was about to lose it. Tang Ze wasn’t even paying attention. She had entrusted him with such an important task, could she even rely on him? He seemed so irresponsible.
“I heard you.”
Tang Ze sighed. Why is she so nervous? It’s just one person, not a god.
“Can you be more serious? This is very important to me.”
Xi Meng said sternly. If he had been her employee before, she would have fired him on the spot.
“Yes, yes, yes.”
Xi Meng was about to crack. His nonchalant attitude was infuriating. She felt she had made a terrible bargain, but he was the only one who could do this.
It was so frustrating.
Just then, Fu Qi returned, and Tang Ze reluctantly left.
