33. Conflict
After all, they were on someone else’s territory. These black-clad swordsmen wouldn’t resort to drawing their weapons, just trying to save face. So, the man hadn’t intended to fight.
But now, this sword was blocking his path, which was quite shocking.
“You!?” He looked at the sword in disbelief, then turned to Leng Yuli and snapped, “You’re from the Returning Heaven Sect?”
“Huh?” Leng Yuli was bewildered. “How am I from the Returning Heaven Sect? That’s ridiculous.”
“Then you—”
Before he could finish, the sword flashed, leaving several cuts on his clothes. The speed was dazzling, the whole process over in an instant.
However, the man wasn’t hurt, as the sword had only torn his clothes, leaving his skin unharmed.
But being publicly stripped was a great humiliation for him.
“Damn it!”
His companions immediately drew their swords and stepped forward, glaring at the two women. “You two bitches, are you looking for death!?”
Gong Yiling, seemingly motionless, had already scanned their swords, leaving her mark on each one.
If they attacked, they would know what a real opponent was.
Just then, a voice came from the door, startling Gong Yiling.
“What are you doing?”
There was no need to say who this familiar male voice belonged to.
He was the original male lead of this story, now a complete nobody with his screen time stolen, and with whom she had a deep-seated grudge. He should just get lost.
Jiang Chenmo.
Although she had already discovered he was in this city, discovering and confronting were two different things.
After all, they were old acquaintances. In this place, Gong Yiling would rather not see him. If her identity was exposed, all her efforts would be in vain, and Leng Yuli might even be implicated.
“Young Master Li,” the man whose clothes were in tatters walked up to Jiang Chenmo and said angrily, “we were waiting for you here, not to be bullied. Those two bitches started it. If you can’t handle this, then please excuse us.”
“The pot calling the kettle black?” Leng Yuli frowned, annoyed. “You were the one with the bad attitude first. And your sword moved on its own. What does that have to do with us?”
“Ridiculous! If it wasn’t the Returning Heaven Sect’s Sword Control Technique, do you think the sword would grow wings and fly?”
The Returning Heaven Sect?
Hearing this, Jiang Chenmo finally turned his attention to Gong Yiling.
He felt a sense of familiarity with this woman at first glance, but it quickly vanished with his speculation.
“You are Miss Su?” he asked, looking at her back.
Gong Yiling was also thinking. This person had called Jiang Chenmo “Young Master Li,” so he probably didn’t want others to know he was a disciple of Tianli Daoist Mountain.
But then, why did Mo Yechong know his identity?
This was intriguing.
However, she didn’t need to worry about it. Jiang Chenmo was also using a different identity to “scam” people. Who knew who had more leverage over whom?
Thinking of this, Gong Yiling turned around, and indeed, a rather unfamiliar man stood before her.
—A disguise.
“You’re the one who was talking to Young Master Mo earlier?”
“Indeed, it is I, Li.”
“Then good.” Gong Yiling said calmly, “Young Master Mo asked me to wait here. Ah Leng might have been a bit harsh, seeing some strangers who didn’t want to reveal their origins, but they were the ones who started it.”
“This young lady was just teaching them a lesson, letting them know there are some people they shouldn’t provoke. If you want to continue speaking for them, please do.”
With that, Gong Yiling was about to leave with Leng Yuli.
But hearing that this Miss Su indeed had the Sword Control Technique, Jiang Chenmo’s attitude towards her changed subtly.
“The fault lies with me and Brother Mo for not discussing this beforehand. The Mo family’s hospitality is not as you think. Please, follow me.”
His last sentence was directed at the black-clad swordsmen, clearly siding with Gong Yiling, which displeased them.
“Why should we leave…”
“Brother Chen,” Jiang Chenmo interrupted him as he turned away. “This is not your territory. And do you really want to clash with the Returning Heaven Sect now?”
His words silenced the black-clad swordsmen. They exchanged glances, then left with Jiang Chenmo, leaving Gong Yiling to ponder his words.
He should have said, “Do you want to clash with the Returning Heaven Sect?”
But he added “now,” which implied that they would eventually clash.
They dared to challenge one of the top sects of the Hundred Paths Mountain, yet they weren’t a mysterious organization like the Eight Desolations Sword Alliance. Their identity puzzled Gong Yiling.
However, she didn’t think about it for long. Mo Yechong entered the room with a longsword and a token.
“A room has been arranged for Miss Su.” He didn’t know what had just happened and simply handed the items to Gong Yiling.
“These are?”
“This token is a pass for the Eight Desolations Sword Alliance. I’ll tell you about our strongholds in the Baiyao Dynasty later.”
“With this token, you can enter any of the Mo family’s strongholds, and you’re also eligible to enter the territories of other families, but whether they let you in is not up to me.”
“As for this sword,”
He drew the blade, and the characters “Eight Desolations” were visible on its spine.
“The Eight Desolations Sword?” Gong Yiling asked. “Why are you giving me a sword? Is this also a token?”
Mo Yechong smiled and explained, “This is a mid-grade spiritual artifact. Anyone who joins the Sword Alliance receives one. Miss Leng beside you has also received one.”
Leng Yuli nodded in confirmation.
“You can treat it as your personal sword. If it breaks, you can have Miss Leng repair it. You can also leave it somewhere, as long as you don’t give it away, you can do whatever you want with it.”
This sounded like a benefit, but as she took the sword, a sentence popped into her mind.
“Ding—notification: You have obtained the Eight Desolations Chongming Sword, the entrance item for the Eight Desolations Deer Hunt.”
