Chapter 51: Death
“Seven… eight…”
The long whip, wrapped in black tape, was stained with blood. It was swung high in the air, and the whip whistled through the air, which was filled with the smell of blood. The sound was sharp, like a poisonous snake with its fangs bared. The poisonous fangs bit into the thin skin, and the venom that was mixed in the blood caused a bone-deep pain. The fiery pain was almost driving him mad.
“Nine… ten…”
One whip after another. The woman used a fierce force. She kicked away the chain that had already been removed and approached the corner. The boy was holding his head and dodging in a pathetic state. The long whip went deep into his flesh and blood, and it brought out gushing blood, in exchange for a painful wail.
The sound of begging for mercy almost disappeared in the end, and only a weak and miserable groan was left. The other party’s struggle was getting smaller and smaller, and in the end, he was curled up in a corner, motionless. The long whip swept across his chest, and only a few painful muffled groans were heard.
“Sister… it hurts so much…”
The whip, which was poised in her palm, suddenly stopped. Gu Zhi suddenly held back her strength, and a struggle flashed in the depths of her cold and aloof eyes. The whip was thrown into the bucket by her, and the clear water was instantly dyed a rich blood red.
The monster in her heart roared with unwillingness. She longed for this pool of blood that had accumulated on the ground. The terrifying sadistic desire was becoming more and more restless. She wanted to tear the other party apart and devour him, to vent the surging anger of not having completely possessed the boy.
Gu Zhi was still silent. When the whip fell mercilessly, no matter how pitiful and painful the boy’s pleas for mercy were, she just numbly repeated the mechanical action, deeply carving the bone-deep pain into the boy’s frail soul.
She approached the corner step by step, and the crisp sound of her heels on the ground made Su Yu, who was curled up in the corner, subconsciously hold his head. His tattered clothes were hanging loosely on his body, almost not covering him. He was curled up even tighter in the corner, but his wound accidentally rubbed against the wall, and the pain became more and more intense, but it was not so painful anymore.
It doesn’t hurt anymore… it doesn’t seem to hurt at all.
Su Yu felt that all his senses were numb, and he couldn’t feel any pain at all. He pulled at the corners of his lips, as if he had found a little bit of comfort in his despair. The feeling of fear, along with the gradually distant pain, dissipated.
He relaxed his tense body and fell weakly to the cold ground. A large patch of blood spread out, like a blooming blood-red rose. He looked at the culprit in front of him, and his dark pupils were dilated, and he couldn’t see a single bit of a desire to live.
He knew that the pain was only temporary, but how long would this kind of life last? It was as if he had fallen into a deep abyss of despair. He struggled hard, but he could not look up at the brilliant sunlight at the bottom of the valley no matter what.
“Xiao Chan, look at me…”
Gu Zhi’s footsteps were light. Her face was carved with a cold and dangerous smile. Her palm grabbed his hair, which was wet with sweat, and forced Su Yu to raise his head and look at her. She gently caressed the blood that was stained on his cheeks, and her hands were almost covered in it. She forced a gentle smile. “What did you just call me? Say it again, okay?”
Su Yu just glanced at Gu Zhi, his eyes cold and lifeless, without any resentment or anger. He just glanced at her lightly and then turned his head away. But it was as if thousands of sharp needles had deeply pierced her, and a dense pain suddenly arose in her heart.
“It’s okay if you don’t say it. Anyway, we’re not in that relationship anymore. I’ve given you a chance. I treated you as a living person, but you insisted on being a dog. You’re really a cheap bone.”
It was clearly a scolding and angry words, but Gu Zhi said it with a blank expression. She curled her lips and let out a cold laugh. “Why did you lie to me? Was your obedient appearance fake from beginning to end?”
Su Yu lowered his eyes and opened a small gap. He suddenly found another way besides begging for mercy. He just smiled contemptuously and was silent. The harsh and hoarse laughter was full of a sarcastic meaning. It seemed that he found this question a little funny. He accidentally pulled at the wound on his chest, which made him cough violently, and his face was a pale and dead gray.
“What do you mean? Speak… you speak!”
“You… you think…”
“Shut up!”
A sudden slap hit Su Yu’s face fiercely. The force was so great… that it turned his whole body to the other side. His left ear was temporarily deaf, and it was buzzing. He was dizzy for a moment, and his chest was as if it had been blocked by a stone. He was so stuffy that he wanted to vomit, but he could only dry-heave in pain.
“Say it’s not true. Tell me it’s not true… say you love me. Say it!”
Gu Zhi’s hand, which was holding Su Yu’s collar, was trembling. The coldness in her eyes slowly dissipated, and she fell into a vortex of crazy obsession. She seemed to have lost her reason in an instant, and she was frantically questioning Su Yu, holding his collar.
Su Yu lowered his eyes, and the shadow cast by his eyelashes covered his dark eyes. He was silent, and it was as if he had already told Gu Zhi the answer.
Another backhand slap. Gu Zhi’s chest was heaving violently, and a wave of indescribable sourness rushed up her nose. She raised her neck and swallowed the wetness at the corners of her eyes. She stared at Su Yu, her gaze not moving for a long time. She suddenly sneered and returned to that cold and indifferent appearance.
“I’m tired today…”, Gu Zhi picked up the chain on the ground and re-imprisoned Su Yu’s scarred body. She whispered in his ear gently, “There are still twenty whips… we’ll continue tomorrow. Not just tomorrow, but the day after tomorrow, and the day after that. We’ll be together forever in this life.”
Su Yu’s limp body began to tremble uncontrollably. The most desperate thing was to not see hope. He would never be able to find another chance to escape. All his resistance was just futile.
He suddenly held Gu Zhi’s hand and stained her porcelain-white and moist wrist with blood. He shook his head in self-abandonment, as if he were pleading, “You might as well just kill me. Kill me. Aren’t you a big and powerful family? It’s not a big deal to kill a person who is already dead, right?”
Kill me…
He fell back in despair, and the woman’s beautiful face dissipated in his dilated pupils, presenting a hazy and indistinct look.
Perhaps it was wrong from the very beginning. Rebirth had only made him see the illusion that he had thought was real, and then he had fallen from one deep abyss into another, even deeper one. From the very beginning, it was just a meaningless struggle.
In the end, he didn’t get an answer. He didn’t see the woman’s expression when she left. He only heard the click of the chain being re-locked, and the dark room returned to a silent darkness.
The sound of high heels on the floor gradually faded away. He leaned against the cold wall, his mouth half-open, and he was breathing with difficulty, one mouthful at a time. His handsome and unparalleled face was a little ugly from the bloodstains. He was curled up on the floor, motionless, and he was staring at the ceiling with a dazed expression.
It doesn’t hurt anymore…
