Chapter 91: Drowning
The numbers on the dark electronic screen slowly ticked upwards. Su Yu stood at the elevator entrance and pressed the down button, his hands clasped in front of him, at a loss. He didn’t know why he had to go out, but he was unwilling to just sit there and do nothing.
He had thought of many excuses, but he still didn’t know how to briefly summarize the gray years of the past few years.
Perhaps he didn’t have to say anything. A few years was enough to take away too many things. The girl had only said that she had once loved him. But who knew? It might just be a sigh of guilt. When she turned around, time had passed, and the mottled and strange back in the sun. Everyone would change. The passion in their hearts would eventually cool down, and it might have already returned to zero, and been forgotten…
Su Yu suddenly felt a lump in his throat. He naively thought that the turning point of his fate had come. But who knew if this was another fall to the bottom of the valley? He didn’t want this.
When the elevator was about to stop, the axle made a clicking sound, as if it were in sync with the beating of his heart in his chest. He turned and was about to leave, but the elevator door suddenly and without warning slid open.
He held his breath silently, like a child who was looking forward to the toy in a gift box. He stopped and watched as the beautiful ribbon on the gift box was slowly pulled away. His heart slowed down its beating. He was afraid, but he was also subconsciously looking forward to it. He was so contradictory that he couldn’t find himself.
The ribbon slid smoothly to the ground, revealing the woman inside.
He thought that he might have opened Pandora’s box, which was filled with desire, temptation, and greed in the name of love. But the woman was happiness itself. All his anxiety and unease disappeared at that moment, like the bright and beautiful sunlight after a storm, which calmed him down.
The woman was leaning against the metallic wall. She was wearing a dark green chiffon shirt and a black and white polka-dot half-skirt, which revealed her slender and exquisite calves, which were wrapped in flesh-colored stockings, and which outlined a graceful and shapely curve.
She was holding a large stack of documents and was leaning against the wall. Her eyes were half-closed, and her dark eyes showed a sickly and haggard look from her busy work and lack of rest. She was looking down, and her long hair, which was past her shoulders, was draped down. The top of her head was a deep black, and it gradually transitioned to a mature tea color. The ends of her hair were naturally upturned, and they were swaying slightly with her movements.
Su Yu felt strange and familiar. The crazy and turbulent storm last night had soaked them. It had washed away the bright and mature makeup on the woman’s face. He subconsciously thought that the other party was still the girl who was sitting at the desk in front of him, buried in her work.
The white incandescent light from the elevator seeped out. The woman gently rubbed her temples and raised her gentle and calm eyes. She glanced at him lightly, but Su Yu felt that it was a sharp knife, which had scraped his features blurry and had cut open his flesh and blood. He even subconsciously straightened his back to make himself look less pathetic.
He had clearly recognized the woman at a glance, but the woman had actually paused for a while, as if it had taken her some time to recognize him. It was only a few seconds, but it had instantly pushed him to the edge of a cliff, and behind him was a bottomless abyss.
He felt that he was really crazy, and he was a little neurotic. But he was still uncontrollably disappointed.
“You’re awake?”
“I…”
Su Yu swallowed his dry throat, and his prominent Adam’s apple rolled. His lips were pursed as if they were stuck together. He had not yet had time to be sad about this not-so-beautiful reunion after a long time, and the sweet and soft gardenia fragrance rushed into his nose, and a soft and delicate body shrunk into his arms.
He stumbled back a few steps, his gaze sweeping over the scattered documents on the floor. It was as if a timely rain had fallen, extinguishing the small flame that had not yet been lit in his heart.
The switch that controlled his emotions seemed to be in the other party’s hand. Opening and closing was just her casual teasing. She was like a seductive siren in the deep sea. A few soft songs would make him lose his mind.
His loneliness, his solitude, his pretense of being strong… were all shattered. She had a tension and beauty that was on the edge of happiness. Even if she took half a step over, she would fall into danger. To him, it was still an amazing temptation.
He had so much sadness and grievance that he couldn’t express. This strange city was simply colder than the long winter in the North Country. He was like a homeless ghost wandering here. Even if he was covered with a thick blanket, he would still shiver in every deserted night.
“I’m not dead. I…”
He couldn’t finish his sentence. A very faint sob suddenly came from his throat. He held the girl tightly, and his head was on her shoulder. His slightly trembling body was as sad as a child who couldn’t grow up. He looked really helpless.
Xia Qiange’s heart ached.
She felt the trembling in her arms. The tip of her pink tongue licked her sharp little canine teeth, and she was so excited that she wanted to roll on the ground.
So easy to understand, her boy… every change in his emotions was clearly written on his face. The restlessness in his heart, which was like a strong wind, was revealed in his calm expression. It was so cute.
Only she knew how she had spent these past few years. She was busy day and night, afraid that if she stopped, she would not be able to resist tying the other party to her side.
It was really too hard. She was not willing to look back at that time. Her life was turned upside down. Every day without Su Yu was like a year. Now the other party was completely curled up in her arms, and he was even sobbing in a low voice. His tears had wet her shoulder. How could she bear it?
She gently held the boy in her arms and brought her vermilion lips to his ear, comforting him softly. “Shh! I know… I know you’re sad. Don’t be in a hurry to tell me. It’s all over. It will be better now and in the future. I’ll be with you.”
“Yeah.”
Su Yu answered in a deep voice. He held the warmth in his arms even tighter, as if he were greedy. He thought he had been lonely for too long. Otherwise, how could he be so fragile? When he had nothing, someone had suddenly appeared by his side and had told him with a smile that she would be with him.
He was really at his wit’s end, and a drowning person would cling to a straw for survival.
Xia Qiange took a step closer while he was in a daze, pressing on his already-little self-control. Her high heels, which were on the ground, slowly turned, and the sharp tip of her shoe was facing his direction. Their shoe tips were touching, and they were having a seemingly unintentional but subtle interaction, which was actually a naked seduction.
But the boy was sensitive and even a little neurotic at this moment. The touch from the soles of his feet was transmitted to his brain along his nerves. It was as if a light feather were scratching his heart. The itch was lingering on the tip of his heart. He was scratching an itch through a boot, and he was so uncomfortable that he couldn’t breathe.
The surrounding temperature began to rise gradually, melting the cold of the morning, and it vaporized into a hazy and blurry water mist that enveloped the two of them. An ambiguous and lingering atmosphere gradually spread, and he was a little lost, so much so that he was a little irrational. His palm couldn’t help but go around the girl’s back, and it slid over her slender waist…
“Are you hungry?”
Xia Qiange suddenly raised her clear and clean eyes and looked at him, a smile on her lips. Her clear black-and-white eyes were filled with an innocent naivety. Her eyes were half-curved, like a beautiful and pure crescent moon. Su Yu’s heart was so scared that it was about to stop beating. His face was as red as a cooked shrimp, and he even slightly bent his knees…
Su Yu, what are you thinking? You’re such a bastard…
He let go of the arm that was about to hug the other party’s waist and took a few steps back. He was so nervous that he couldn’t speak. The words that came out were just a blurry raving. Even he himself didn’t know what he was saying. After a long while, he finally accepted his own unbearable and ugly nature and replied with a stammer, “Yeah, let’s go back.”
He thought he was really crazy. Loneliness had driven him to a dead end.
Author’s notes:
Subsequent Plot Statement
I’ll still make a statement. Although the upcoming plot of Qian Ge will not involve violence, and the two of them will get along harmoniously, and Su Yu will even be very happy, and everything will look very peaceful, this will be much more vicious than Gu Zhi’s plot in some ways.
But there will definitely be people who can’t accept it, saying that the male lead is too useless or something.
First of all, I don’t think this is useless. It’s a reasonable performance that has been accumulated by the plot. If he’s not like this, how can I continue to write? Or do you have to tell me that you want to see the male lead rise up, to see the male lead counterattack, how the male lead uses his rebirth to make money, to improve his status, to use his rebirth, to have a plot of wits and courage with the yandere.
How should I put this? I’ll just answer it all at once. Rebirth is useful, but I’ve never made it the focus. Not to mention whether the male lead’s rise is in line with the plot, and how to develop the story. The most important thing is that I don’t want to write these things at all, because they’ve already been written to death. Rebirth, system, transmigration… anyone can write this kind of genre better than me. Why should I join in the fun?
Let me say something from the bottom of my heart. I think the yandere’s cool point is very different from what many people think. The point that makes me interested in yandere is the female lead. The male lead is myself, so I don’t care about the male lead at all.
I don’t care at all about how the male lead should be different. Because I’m just an ordinary person myself. It’s quite reliable to fantasize about a yandere female lead coming to find me. Why does the male lead have to be so outstanding? I know what I’m like, so I’m not very interested in how the male lead is.
Of course, don’t argue with me. This is what I think, so I’m writing it this way.
The male lead in this book will of course get better. But when he rises up, the yandere’s part will basically be gone. The male lead is a bit of a letdown now, okay? Because it reflects the female lead. My ability is limited. I can’t write about the male lead being very powerful and also being a yandere. I really can’t write it.
Secondly, isolation and seduction is the type I want to write. This is the effect I want. If it wasn’t for this part, there wouldn’t be this book.
I’ve cut Gu Zhi’s plot. It’s a pity, but Qian Ge’s plot will definitely not be. Those who can’t accept it can skip it appropriately. I’ve already given this warning so far in advance.
I’ve said so much just for the following few sentences.
I hope that no one will come and attack me after reading it. Actually, I can’t do anything if you scold the characters. It’s just like that. You can scold the male lead too. Just don’t attack me.
There were a few people who came to scold me for being a psycho or something before. They even deliberately wrote a book review to criticize my three views. The author’s mental state is really very sound. I can distinguish between reality and fiction very clearly. I’m not some kind of pervert or masochist. Everyone doesn’t have to worry.
