Girls in a Matriarchal World Are Just Too Scary 3

Chapter 3: The System’s Purpose

Su Yan fell silent and continued to look at the reward pool. Inside, there was also something called “skill points.”

Any skill he had already learned could have points added to it, but this point allocation was also random.

He could go through hell and back to earn a point, only for it to upgrade a useless ability.

Su Yan thought about the various skills in the system’s reward pool. Besides the heaven-defying divine abilities, there were also countless low-level techniques. If he acquired too many abilities, wouldn’t the skill points become useless?

[The host need not worry. The miraculous nature of skill points is beyond your imagination. There is no such thing as waste.]

[As long as you have enough points, even Dragon King’s Waterspout can live up to its name and become capable of slaughtering cities and destroying nations.]

Su Yan’s blood boiled with excitement. It seemed the system’s rewards were extremely practical; there was no such thing as a “trash” reward.

Since the system was so powerful, could his ascent to the pinnacle be far away?

“I will cultivate! I will become strong! I will find dozens of dao companions!”

Su Yan smiled. So what if it was a world where women were superior? So what if there was the threat of a “yandere chopper”? In the cultivation world, strength was what mattered. Once he became a cultivation big shot, would he still need to worry about these things?

…

After studying the system for a while, Su Yan remembered Bai Shuixin’s message and hurried out of his room.

At the summit of Heavenly Water Peak.

A languid voice drifted over. “My dear disciple, you’ve arrived!”

Su Yan looked up. Before him was a woman in a moon-white long dress. A serene smile graced her beautiful face, and her lovely eyes seemed capable of seeing through a person’s heart.

Bai Shuixin!

One of the Peak Lords of the Transcendent Immortal Sect, and also his Master.

Bai Shuixin stood with her hands clasped behind her back. The mountain wind blew against her, sending her long, jet-black hair dancing freely.

Su Yan lowered his head and said nothing. He was a little afraid of this Master. Whenever he saw her, it was hard not to be reminded of the novel’s plot.

Although the male lead had brought about his own downfall, it was an indisputable fact that his predecessor had suffered a setback and fallen at her hands.

But I’m behaving myself now. I haven’t had any outrageous thoughts. I shouldn’t repeat the same mistakes, right?

So Su Yan thought to himself.

He then heard Bai Shuixin say, “A few days ago, I was struck by a whim and performed a divination. I discovered a young girl who shares a destiny with me. I plan to have you go down the mountain and bring her back here.”

Eh?

Su Yan was stunned. This part wasn’t in the original story. Who was his Master asking him to retrieve? Could it be the Little Junior Sister?

The plot had changed. What was going on?

Su Yan asked, puzzled, “Master, why not bring her back yourself, or have one of the senior sisters go? Why choose me?”

In this world of reversed gender roles, it was easy for a man to run into danger when traveling alone. A junior brother from a prestigious and righteous sect like him was especially popular with those lecherous women.

Bai Shuixin explained, “Your Eldest Senior Sister is busy with other matters, your Second Senior Sister is in seclusion, and your Third Senior Sister has gone home to visit family. You’re the only one left.”

The moment her voice fell, three options popped up before Su Yan’s eyes.

[Option 1: Hug Bai Shuixin’s waist, nuzzling against her while saying, “Master, I don’t want to go! I want to stay here with you!” (Reward for completion: Cultivation breakthrough to late Foundation Establishment)]

[Option 2: Cross your arms and say with a look of disdain, “Even though you’re my Master… I refuse!” (Reward for completion: High-grade spiritual weapon, the Water Taming Sword)]

[Option 3: Agree to Bai Shuixin’s request. (Reward for completion: Comprehension +1)]

“Ah, this…”

Su Yan was dumbfounded.

So this was how the system triggered its missions. The conditions were simple enough, but the consequences of these options…

Su Yan took a deep breath. The richer the reward, the greater the potential risk. To become stronger, he was willing to risk it all.

It’s just flirting with my Master, right?

Su Yan took a step forward, clasped his hands in a fist salute, and bowed slightly. “Master, leave this matter to me. I will be sure to bring my junior sister back to the sect safely.”

Su Yan chose to follow his heart.

Although it is often said that fortune favors the bold, there’s another saying that goes, “As long as the green hills remain, there will be no shortage of firewood.” Besides, this was only the system’s first mission. Why take such a gamble?

Option 1 was out of the question. Reaching the peak of Foundation Establishment was tempting, but he was afraid he wouldn’t live long enough to enjoy it!

His predecessor had met a tragic end precisely because he had flirted with his Master. If he did the same, he would be misunderstood as having designs on his own master, and things would get serious.

The reward for Option 2 was also generous—judging by the name, it seemed to be a water-elemental magic sword—but he didn’t have the guts to refuse his Master.

“Good.”

Bai Shuixin replied faintly.

[Mission complete. Reward: Comprehension +1]

Su Yan felt a clear stream flow into his mind, an indescribably refreshing sensation.

Bai Shuixin said, “There’s no time to lose. Since you’ve agreed, you should set off at once.”

Su Yan replied, “Your disciple understands.”

Su Yan didn’t want to be alone with Bai Shuixin any longer. As soon as their conversation was over, he wanted to slip away.

“Wait…”

Bai Shuixin raised a hand to stop him. “Don’t be in such a hurry. Take this.”

A jade token flew toward him, and Su Yan reached out to catch it.

The token was exquisitely carved and felt warm and smooth to the touch. The front was engraved with the emblem of the Transcendent Immortal Sect, and the back was engraved with the two characters ‘Shuixin’.

Su Yan looked at her, confused.

Bai Shuixin said, “You’re a boy. I can’t rest easy with you traveling alone. This contains a sliver of my divine sense. Keep it with you, and no one will be able to harm you.”

Su Yan’s expression changed instantly. With a sliver of Bai Shuixin’s divine sense inside, wouldn’t she know everything he was doing?

Although he knew Bai Shuixin wouldn’t spy on him, carrying something like this just felt incredibly awkward.

Just then, three more options appeared before Su Yan’s eyes.

[Option 1: Loudly accuse Bai Shuixin, “Old woman, are you spying on me?” (Reward for completion: Cultivation breakthrough to late Foundation Establishment)]

[Option 2: Shout at Bai Shuixin, “What are you planning? Are you an old cow trying to eat young grass?” (Reward for completion: Cultivation breakthrough to early Golden Core)]

[Option 3: Obediently put away the jade token. (Reward for completion: Aptitude +1)]

“…”

The last mission rewarded +1 Comprehension, and now it was Aptitude. Su Yan had a smile plastered on his face, but inwardly, he was already cursing.

He had seen through the system’s pattern. The first two options offered tempting rewards, but the degree to which they were courting death was outrageous.

For a woman, age was always a taboo topic. Calling Bai Shuixin an old woman to her face? Was he asking to be flattened by a single punch?

The second option was even worse. Not only did it touch upon the age taboo, but it also involved flirting with his Master. That was practically a death wish!

“Do I even have a choice?”

Su Yan cursed the system in his heart, silently put away the jade token, and said, “Master, you’re too good to me.”

Bai Shuixin smiled. “You’re the only male disciple here. If I’m not good to you, who else would I be good to?”

Su Yan gave a “touched” smile. He knew he was very handsome and that many women coveted him, but Bai Shuixin was definitely not one of them.

Compared to boys, Bai Shuixin seemed to prefer female disciples. She had even prepared him, this “childhood husband,” for them.
