Chapter 75: Jiutian Media (Part 1)
The temple was bustling with incense, and there were many people praying for wealth and blessings.
As she passed by the Hall of Matrimony, Sang Jing paused for a moment. She glanced inside, her thoughts unknown.
“Do you want to pray for one too?” Xie Yu asked in a small voice.
Sang Jing pursed her lips and turned to leave. “No.”
“Almsgiver!”
The master in front of the Hall of Matrimony called out to her.
Sang Jing stopped.
The master walked up to her and looked at her face with a smile. “Almsgiver, your face is glowing red. Your red luan star has moved recently. Don’t you want to know if that person is your true love?”
Xie Yu almost couldn’t hold back her laughter.
This person was showing off in front of Sang Jing, and on Sang Jing’s specialty at that.
Xie Yu thought that Sang Jing would refuse and leave, but she hadn’t expected her to stand there for a while and say, “Alright.”
Sang Jing walked into the Hall of Matrimony, knelt on a cushion, and held the divination stick container, closing her eyes.
After shaking it three times, a stick fell out.
Sang Jing opened her eyes and picked up the stick, her lips tightening.
The divination text read: The flower in the mirror, the shadow in the dream, are hard to come by. The wind and rain scatter, and sorrow is in vain.
A very bad sign.
The master who had led her in had good eyesight. When she saw the divination text, her expression stiffened, and she was a little embarrassed. She chuckled twice, reached out, and took the divination stick container and the stick from Sang Jing’s hand. “This is not the right container. I took the wrong one. I’ll get you another one.”
So she went to the side and got another container, and handed it to Sang Jing again.
Sang Jing prayed again, and it was still the same stick.
She turned to look at the master.
The master: “…”
What the hell? Didn’t she take that stick out?
Just as the master was about to go and get another one, Sang Jing waved her hand and stood up.
The master racked her brains to try and salvage the situation. “Let me interpret the stick for you. The deeper meaning of the divination text is not as it appears on the surface.”
Sang Jing looked at her and said softly, “I am a Xuan Master.”
The master: “…”
It’s not a good day to be at work.
Walking out of the Hall of Matrimony, Sang Jing took the stick with her, leaving the annoyed fortune-teller behind.
“What’s wrong? Is the stick not good?” Xie Yu hadn’t seen the stick, but hearing that the master had even come to change the divination stick container, it must not have been a very good sign.
Sang Jing’s reaction was not big, and it was impossible to tell if she was happy or sad. It was as if she were talking about a very ordinary matter. “A very bad sign. A lifetime of loneliness, with no one by my side.”
Xie Yu climbed up her clothes and was on the verge of getting in Sang Jing’s face. “What!?”
If Sang Jing is lonely for a lifetime, what about her?
Sang Jing glanced at her in confusion.
Xie Yu pulled on the hair that was hanging on her shoulder. “It’s not accurate. I’ll go and pray for one too.”
Sang Jing pinched the small paper effigy and stuffed it back into her inner pocket. “What ghost prays for a love match?”
After leaving Pudu Temple, Sang Jing found a deserted place, opened the Ghost Gate, and took the Yin Road, appearing directly in front of Hua Changge and the others.
There was a famous ancient town in Liangshui City, which had also appeared on the map that Lady Hei had given them. After receiving the map from Sang Jing, Hua Changge and the others had directly rented a small courtyard in the ancient town. The green bricks and black wood were ancient and elegant. With Wenren Jin around, there was no need to worry about the budget.
When the Ghost Gate opened, several people were gathered around a table, studying the layout of the ancient town. A yin wind blew, making Yan Chuan shiver.
“So convenient,” Yan Chuan sighed.
They had specially left a seat for Sang Jing. After Sang Jing sat down, she pointed to the marked point of the Jiutian Media Company building on the table. “We should probably split up. There might be a problem here too.”
Sang Jing didn’t say it for sure. Although Master Huimu had pointed her in this direction, she had not explicitly said whether it was related to their investigation. It was also possible that it was not referring to the Jiutian Media Company building.
“Alright,” Hua Changge had no objection.
When Wenren Jin saw Jiutian Media, she said abruptly, “My family has shares in their company. It’s not difficult to get in.”
Everyone at the table turned to look at her.
Wei Qingyun nodded and followed up, “Chairman Hua and I have already walked around the ancient town this morning. How about this: I, Chairman Hua, and Vice-Chairman Tan will investigate the ancient town, and the others will investigate this Jiutian Media.”
Besides the three of them, there were also Sang Jing, Bei Shan, Wenren Jin, and Yan Chuan.
This way, both sides would have people from the Special Investigation Team and the Xuanmen.
Yan Chuan, who was sitting opposite Wei Qingyun, raised an eyebrow, her gaze slightly shifting to Hua Changge beside her.
Her fingers tapped the table. She offered an opinion. “Are there too many people going to Jiutian?”
Wei Qingyun looked up at her. “Then what is Chairman Yan’s meaning?”
Yan Chuan also looked at her. “I’ll stay behind too.”
Their gazes met in mid-air, and it felt like there were sparks.
Sang Jing was also thinking about this problem. She felt that Yan Chuan was right. They were not sure about Jiutian yet, so it was indeed not appropriate for so many people to go. And the marked point of the ancient town on the map was heavily marked, the same mark as Chaoyang Community and Sophora Tree Park. The importance was self-evident.
She thought for a moment and then nodded. “Then Chairman Yan will stay behind. I, Wenren Jin, and Bei Shan will go to the Jiutian Media Company building.”
Yan Chuan gave Wei Qingyun a triumphant look, then lazily sat back down, completely lacking her previous presence. She leaned against the chair, her shoulder intentionally or unintentionally brushing against Hua Changge beside her.
Hua Changge saw the conflict between the two of them, and her hand, which was hanging under the table, was held by Yan Chuan.
Originally, the relationship between Yan Chuan and Wei Qingyun was still peaceful, but this matter had to be traced back to last night. At that time, the few of them had just arrived in the ancient town. After Wenren Jin had booked this small courtyard, she had left a room for Sang Jing, and the others had chosen for themselves.
Hua Changge had chosen first, and then she was sandwiched between Yan Chuan and Wei Qingyun.
At night, Hua Changge was doing her daily maintenance on her hands in her room when someone knocked on her door.
She guessed who it was. “The door is not locked.”
The door opened. Wei Qingyun had just finished washing up, and her bangs were wet.
Hua Changge didn’t look at her. “Does Team Leader Wei need something?”
Wei Qingyun had originally wanted to ask her how she had been recently, but the words that came out were, “My hairdryer is broken. I came to borrow yours.”
Hua Changge scoffed lightly, her attitude cold. “Mine is also broken. You can go and borrow someone else’s.”
Wei Qingyun: “…”
Wei Qingyun sighed and frowned. “Do you have to talk to me like this?”
Hua Changge finally looked up at her. “Then how should I talk to you? Should I strip naked and roll into bed? Senior Sister?”
As soon as her voice fell, the door was knocked again.
“Sister Hua, are you asleep?” It was Yan Chuan outside the door.
Hua Changge glanced at the frowning Wei Qingyun and said loudly, “No.”
Yan Chuan pushed the door open and came in, holding a small snack in her hand. She was stunned when she saw Wei Qingyun. “Team Leader Wei is here too.”
Wei Qingyun gave Yan Chuan a distant nod.
Yan Chuan held the snack and walked to Hua Changge’s side happily. “Sister Hua, this is so delicious. It’s sweet and sour. Do you want to try it?”
Wei Qingyun subconsciously said, “She doesn’t… at night.”
Before she could finish, she saw Hua Changge tilt her head back and open her mouth to Yan Chuan. Her eyes seemed to have glanced her way, and her open lips had touched Yan Chuan’s fingers.
Hua Changge was doing it on purpose.
Realizing this, Wei Qingyun’s hand by her side clenched.
Yan Chuan had fed Hua Changge with her hand. Her fingertips had brushed past Hua Changge’s lips, carrying some sugar powder. She had then put another one in her own mouth and turned to look at Wei Qingyun. “Does Team Leader Wei want some too?”
“No…”
“Turn left out of the courtyard, the second shop on that street.”
“…”
Hua Changge laughed out loud. A vein throbbed on Wei Qingyun’s forehead. She glanced at Hua Changge and then turned and left.
After Wei Qingyun left, the smile in Hua Changge’s eyes slowly faded.
Yan Chuan handed another one over. “Does Sister Hua want more?”
Hua Changge shook her head. “No.”
She didn’t eat at night. This time, she had made an exception purely to anger Wei Qingyun.
“Did Sister Hua just use me to anger Team Leader Wei?” Yan Chuan’s voice fell on Hua Changge’s ear.
Hua Changge’s hand, which was massaging her fingers, paused. Being exposed, she didn’t feel that there was anything she couldn’t admit. She said softly, “Then I apologize to you. I’m sorry. I did use you just now.”
“I don’t think that will anger her.”
Yan Chuan lowered her head and bit the shoulder of Hua Changge’s pajamas. The loose pajamas slid down her shoulder, revealing her fair and smooth skin. A hot breath sprayed on it.
“Sister Hua, just being ambiguous is so boring. Why don’t we make the act complete?”
Hua Changge half-closed her eyes and tilted her head. A scorching hot kiss then came from her neckline to the corner of her lips, paused for a moment, and then kissed her domineeringly and forcefully, as if with anger.
After the kiss, both of them were a little breathless. Hua Changge was sitting, and Yan Chuan was bent over, their foreheads touching.
Yan Chuan’s fingers stroked Hua Changge’s red and moist lips. She couldn’t help but lean over and kiss her again, holding her lower lip and sucking on it.
Hua Changge’s eyes were misty. She was a little aroused by the kiss and hummed softly, tilting her head and using her hand to block Yan Chuan’s pursuing lips.
The woman’s hand still had the rose scent of essential oil, which made Yan Chuan’s head spin. She gently held one of Hua Changge’s fingertips in her mouth, not daring to bite. She knew that Hua Changge cherished her hands very much.
Like a little puppy.
Hua Changge thought to herself. She took her finger out of Yan Chuan’s mouth and tilted her chin at the bathroom. “Go take a shower.”
There was no need to say what this meant.
Yan Chuan’s eyes immediately lit up. She kissed Hua Changge again, then turned and went into the bathroom.
The next morning, Wei Qingyun was about to go to the town to see. As soon as she went out, she happened to run into Hua Changge. Hua Changge was dressed simply, but there was a bright red, fresh love bite on the side of her fair neck.
Wei Qingyun’s face changed on the spot, and so the two of them had walked around the ancient town together in the morning.
Actually, it was just the two streets at the entrance. The two of them stood at the street entrance and talked.
“Chairman Hua’s life is very nourishing. I remember Yan Chuan is almost ten years younger than you, right? You can even do that?” Wei Qingyun said sarcastically, implying that she was robbing the cradle.
Hua Changge was not annoyed and smiled brightly. “Yes, what’s wrong with being young? The young ones are obedient, and they know how to care for people. They also have good stamina. Otherwise, should I find someone older than me who doesn’t care about me and leaves me alone in an empty room?”
Wei Qingyun’s brow furrowed. She heard the full accusation of her past in her words. “At that time, I was…”
Hearing her mention the past, Hua Changge’s smile immediately disappeared. “Team Leader Wei, it’s better not to bring up the past. We still have to work together for a while. Let’s not make things too ugly.”
After the two of them went back, anyone with eyes could see that the atmosphere between the three of them was a little strange. But Sang Jing had just arrived and did not know these things.
It was also fortunate that the one with them was Tan Wei. Tan Wei herself was serious and proper, and was also a Ghost Master with an Ah Qing. She would not be unable to stay in such an atmosphere.
On the way to the Jiutian Media Company building, Bei Shan was obviously much more relaxed. She even put on some music while driving.
This song sounded familiar. Sang Jing remembered that on the way to Xianling for the assessment, Bei Shan seemed to have also played this song.
“It’s good, right? A new and powerful singer, Qin Ge. Her voice is amazing. God’s gift,” Bei Shan hummed along twice, then suddenly said “eh.” “If I remember correctly, isn’t Qin Ge from Jiutian Media?”
“That’s right. She is indeed a new recruit signed by this company,” Wenren Jin said, having already gotten the information of Jiutian Media, from the boss down to the artists.
Sang Jing saw the information that Wenren Jin had sent in the group. The first one on the artist side was Qin Ge.
In this era, for a singer to become popular, a good voice was not enough. They also had to have a good face.
Qin Ge clearly had both.
In the photo, Qin Ge had bright eyes and white teeth, beautiful and charming.
But Sang Jing saw a deep-seated ambition and evil in her eyes.
“What identity will we use to go in later?” Bei Shan asked as they were about to arrive.
Wenren Jin hadn’t thought about it. Her family had shares, so she could just go in. Did she need an identity?
Bei Shan saw the confusion of this young mistress in the rearview mirror and said a few more words. “We can’t just go in and investigate with the identities of the Special Investigation Team and the Xuanmen, right? What if there’s really something going on in there? Wouldn’t we be alerting the snake by beating the grass?”
Wenren Jin nodded and then also began to think.
A media company…
Sang Jing had an idea.
Half an hour later, Wenren Jin led Sang Jing and Bei Shan to the office of the general manager of Jiutian Media.
“Manager Pan, this is the new recruit I brought. She’s been very popular on White Whale Live recently, Sang Jing.”
Oh no, now I’m thinking Sang Jing is gonna die to get around that fortune 🙁
