Chapter 9: Your Spirit Field Space
The first read: Create Magical Seeds.
The second read: Accelerate Plant Growth.
At the same time, a panel also appeared in front of Wan Feng. But she acted as if she hadn’t seen it, minding her own business. With a thought, the panel disappeared, and a look of understanding appeared in her eyes.
But Zhang Can’er remained stunned for a long time. She didn’t know what this was. When she reached out and tapped the first option, a blank page appeared. Tapping it again returned her to the previous interface.
But when she tapped the second option, no page popped up. Instead, the weeds beside her grew rapidly until they were as tall as a person.
Zhang Can’er looked up at this magical scene, still in disbelief. But after watching for only a short while, her head began to feel dizzy.
Zhang Can’er clutched her head and swayed slightly. She tried to stand up, but her limbs were incredibly weak.
Fortunately, Wan Feng, who was beside her, caught her and helped her sit down in the shade of a tree.
The others were still shocked by the suddenly overgrown weeds, each of them studying how the things had grown.
It was Xiao Feng who noticed Zhang Can’er and hurried over.
“Sister Can’er! What’s wrong?”
Hearing Xiao Feng’s voice, the others snapped back to their senses and also ran to Zhang Can’er’s side.
Wan Feng, seeing them crowd around so tightly that they blocked the light, frowned and said coldly, “All of you, back off a bit! Let the air circulate.”
Only then did the group gathered around realize, and they quickly made way.
But Zhang Can’er had already closed her eyes and fallen asleep.
To say she was asleep wasn’t entirely accurate.
When Zhang Can’er closed her eyes and opened them again, she was in a different space. The first thing that met her eyes was an endless expanse of farmland and a clear blue sky.
A warm sun hung quietly in the blue sky, and a gentle breeze blew from time to time, calming one’s heart.
The air was filled with a unique floral fragrance that lifted one’s spirits.
Zhang Can’er looked left and right and found that she was on a flat piece of land. To her left was a house of moderate size, and to her right was a plot of land planted with various flowers.
The entire open space was enclosed by a bamboo fence, forming a small courtyard.
Directly in front of Zhang Can’er was the courtyard gate, and directly opposite the gate were coops for chickens, ducks, and geese.
This place was like a paradise.
That was Zhang Can’er’s first impression after observing her surroundings.
Afterward, she walked toward the house on the left. The entire house was made primarily of bamboo, giving it a leisurely and elegant look.
Zhang Can’er entered the living room. There wasn’t much inside, only a round table and two stools. A tea set was placed on the round table, and some tools were in the two corners by the entrance.
To the left was a simple bedroom, and to the right was the kitchen. There was a small door on the left side of the kitchen leading to the latrine. To the right of the kitchen was a storage room, which also served as a utility room, fully equipped with various farming tools and some simple seeds.
Although the bamboo house was small, it had all the necessary amenities for a basic life.
But what puzzled Zhang Can’er the most was that the kitchen was a modern one. Paired with the bamboo house, it looked out of place no matter how she looked at it.
But the most important thing now was to figure out where this place was. And why was she here? Where did the Mutants go? And where were her companions?
Zhang Can’er wandered around the bamboo house for a long time but found no clues, except for that out-of-place kitchen.
She had also carefully examined the kitchen. Other than not matching the bamboo house, she found nothing else.
So, she left the bamboo house and walked into the courtyard. Looking at the chicken, duck, and goose coops, she frowned and walked over.
The area occupied by these poultry was not very large. There were only four of each kind, all enclosed within bamboo fences. Everything inside was well-equipped, looking as if Zhang Can’er didn’t need to worry about a thing, except for their food, of course.
Zhang Can’er looked at these spirited poultry, her brow furrowing even more. Especially since she was standing right outside the fence, and the chickens didn’t react at all, still pecking at something on the ground.
“Where on earth is this place?” Zhang Can’er couldn’t help but mutter to herself.
“Your Spirit Field Space.”
An ethereal voice suddenly sounded in her ear, making Zhang Can’er jump. Her breathing quickened, and she looked around warily, but after waiting for a long while, no one appeared.
Just as Zhang Can’er was about to breathe a sigh of relief, her shoulder was tapped.
Startled, she quickly ran a few steps forward before daring to look back. Her heart was pounding, her breathing was chaotic, and she was like a frightened bird.
When she looked back, she saw a person standing there, a very beautiful woman. But Zhang Can’er couldn’t quite describe how beautiful she was.
The woman was wearing a pure white women’s T-shirt, a pair of black sweatpants, and a pair of red flip-flops on her feet.
Looking at her, she seemed like a woman living alone, leisurely strolling around her home.
Although this description was a bit strange, that was Zhang Can’er’s impression.
“Who are you?” Zhang Can’er asked warily, looking at the woman opposite her.
But the woman just frowned and stared at her, her eyes filled with disdain, her face full of indignation.
The woman didn’t speak, so Zhang Can’er didn’t ask again. She had to find a way to escape from here. This woman appeared and disappeared like a ghost; she had no idea what she wanted.
Just as Zhang Can’er was thinking of a way, the woman walked toward her.
Zhang Can’er instantly became vigilant. “Don’t come any closer!”
The woman stopped in her tracks, motionless. The disdainful look was still in her eyes, but now there was a hint of grievance.
Zhang Can’er stared at her for a long while. Seeing that she really wasn’t moving anymore, she asked again, “Who are you?”
“I am the administrator of this place. My name is Ru Xi. And now, you are the master of this place. I must obey you,” Ru Xi said truthfully.
Zhang Can’er squinted her eyes, sizing her up for a moment, pondering the credibility of her words.
“Then where is this place? Why am I here? How do I get out?”
“This is the Spirit Field Space. You are here because you were chosen by the Spirit Field. To get out, you must sign an agreement with me. After signing, you can leave,” Ru Xi answered one by one.
“Spirit Field Space? Like the kind in novels?”
“I suppose so.”
“Then what is the agreement? Why must I sign it to get out?”
Ru Xi glanced at her, turned, and walked away, calling out, “Follow me.”
Zhang Can’er followed. She had calmed down now. If this person named Ru Xi wanted to harm her, she would probably be dead already. With that thought, she relaxed a little.
Ru Xi entered the bedroom and came out shortly after with a white A4 sheet of paper in her hand. She handed it to Zhang Can’er, then leisurely sat down at the round table, poured herself a cup of tea, and began to drink slowly.
Zhang Can’er took the agreement and began to read. The more she read, the more her brow furrowed. By the time she finished, her gaze toward Ru Xi held a hint of pity.
“Why are all the clauses on here to restrain you? While I only have one: to be bound to the Spirit Field Space for life.”
Ru Xi shot her a glance, took a sip of tea, and then replied, “The Spirit Field is afraid I’ll bully you. I just don’t get it. Why did it have to choose you, of all people, when there were clearly more outstanding candidates?”
Zhang Can’er blinked, picking up on some other information.
“Can you tell me about the Spirit Field Space?”
Ru Xi’s tea-drinking hand paused. She turned to stare at her for a long while before finally nodding.
