Chapter 49: Opening the Heavenly Eye
Li Hanyan first sorted the medicinal herbs one by one, then answered, “That woman has a very heavy black qi on her. The man doesn’t. What do you think that means?”
“You’ve actually opened your Heavenly Eye?” Jiang Jiajia sat up in shock, then heard Xiao Nian let out a muffled groan.
Jiang Jiajia quickly stood up. “Where did I hit you? Does it hurt a lot?”
Xiao Nian shook her head, then looked at Li Hanyan. She was also a little surprised. Being able to open the Heavenly Eye meant that a Spirit Master had already reached a very high stage. Their light would turn golden.
“Mhm, I felt it when I woke up this morning. The things I see are much brighter,” Li Hanyan said, still sorting her medicinal herbs, completely unaware of how big a deal this was. She said it as simply as if she had eaten a meal today.
“Hanyan, you know what this means, right? Opening the Heavenly Eye requires notifying all the families and holding a celebration for you. In the future, when you’re catching ghosts and fighting demons, you won’t even need to do it yourself. A single glance and the little ghosts and monsters will have to submit. Hahahaha.” Jiang Jiajia was so excited she was dancing. It was as if she was the one who had opened her Heavenly Eye.
“I want to wait until A Xia wakes up to talk about it. It’s not urgent right now.”
“If you ask me, you’re just too in love. If it were me, hmph, I would definitely…” Before she could finish, she felt Xiao Nian’s death stare and instantly changed her tune, “Hahaha, of course I would go with my A Nian to receive the admiring gazes. Right, A Nian will go with me, right?”
“If you’re going to flirt, please do it in your own room. Don’t come and disturb me.” Li Hanyan’s resentful gaze could kill. Jiang Jiajia and Xiao Nian both inexplicably felt a little cold.
“Oh my, I was just too happy. Come, come, I’ll help you pack. A Nian, you can cut the rope for me.”
The group worked together. Midway, they brought up the topic of the couple again.
“That woman has black qi on her. That means she’s killed someone, right?” Jiang Jiajia said as she packed the medicinal herbs.
“Mhm, possibly more than one. The black qi has completely covered her, and there are many children’s cries around her. I suspect this woman has used the method of adopting children to kill many innocent little lives,” Li Hanyan said in a calm voice, revealing a shocking event.
“What? Zhang Wanfeng didn’t find anything? How did this woman deceive us?” Jiang Jiajia stood up in shock, her face full of anger.
Just then, Xiao Nian suddenly spoke up, “There’s a mole in Zhang Wanfeng’s organization.”
Li Hanyan looked at her and nodded affirmatively. “Mhm, so after I told her about it, she sent people to investigate. We should have the results by tomorrow.”
“Who could have infiltrated Zhang Wanfeng’s organization without anyone noticing? And it took so long to find out,” Jiang Jiajia asked, sitting down with a frown.
Li Hanyan shook her head, finished sorting the last of the medicinal herbs, and took a sip of tea.
“Zhang Wanfeng is probably not very afraid of infiltration. What she’s afraid of is an inside job,” Xiao Nian said in a low voice.
“You really dare to say that. You know that the people of the Zhang family are trained from a young age. Even if someone joins as a disciple midway, the Zhang family wouldn’t possibly let them into Zhang Wanfeng’s side, right? If there really is a traitor, then I really can’t think of any reason. Is it money? But the Zhang family’s monthly salary is 100,000, right? Who would be stupid enough to be a traitor for that much money for just doing odd jobs?” Jiang Jiajia said to Xiao Nian, packing the last of the medicinal herbs.
“How could Zhang Wanfeng’s side only have that little money?” Xiao Nian retorted.
“I was talking about the Zhang family.”
Li Hanyan looked at the two of them and said, “If you have nothing to do, go and take care of your requests. Don’t disturb A Xia here.”
Jiang Jiajia pretended to wave at her and complained, “We helped you, didn’t we? You’re really not polite at all. Only Chuxia can handle you. I’ll complain to her when she wakes up.”
Li Hanyan couldn’t be bothered with her. She took a bag of medicine and went into the kitchen, then began to brew it.
Xiao Nian pulled Jiang Jiajia away. As they walked, she said, “You should behave yourself. Hanyan is already in a bad mood, and her emotions are not very stable.”
“I think she’s very stable. I was just trying to liven up the atmosphere. You’re being mean to me!” Jiang Jiajia said, blocking her way with a wronged expression, wanting her to coax her.
“Okay~ You were livening up the atmosphere, but I wasn’t being mean to you…” Xiao Nian took her hand and gently placed a kiss on the back of it, looking at her with gentle eyes. “I’ll change. There won’t be a next time. I’ll be gentler with you in the future, okay?”
Jiang Jiajia threw herself into her arms, her eyes crinkling with laughter. She looked up and placed a kiss on the tip of her chin. “A Nian, I really like this gentle side of you.”
—
“Sister Jiajia! There’s an urgent mission. Please inform Sister Hanyan,” Xiao Xu said very urgently.
“Okay, where’s the address?” Jiang Jiajia quickly got up from the bed, nimbly put on her clothes, and patted Xiao Nian, who was still asleep beside her.
“Sister Jiajia, I’ve already sent the address to your phone. There are three locations. Ke Yan and I have already gone to XX Community. You two can decide on the remaining two,” Xiao Xu quickly hung up the phone. “Ke Yan, let’s go.”
“Okay.”
After Jiang Jiajia and Xiao Nian had gotten ready, they went to Li Hanyan’s place.
“What is it?” Li Hanyan opened the door and looked at them with a frown.
“There’s an emergency. There are three sudden incidents. I’m afraid something might happen to A Nian if she’s alone, so I was thinking of going to one place with her. You have the Heavenly Eye now, so you should be able to protect yourself if you go to one place alone, right?”
“Send me the address. Where are you two going?” Li Hanyan agreed without hesitation.
“We’re going to the one at the fruit shop. We’re leaving now,” Jiang Jiajia said, hurriedly pulling Xiao Nian away.
Li Hanyan went into the room and added another layer of defense for Liu Chuxia, then added another one to the door. Only then did she feel at ease to pack her things and leave.
She went to a bustling street. The incident had occurred in a small restaurant. Li Hanyan looked at the bright sun. She couldn’t understand what kind of ghost would come out and cause trouble in broad daylight.
When she arrived, she saw that the originally bustling street was now empty. Li Hanyan found the person in charge, identified herself, and went in.
Upon entering the small restaurant, she saw the overturned food, and could imagine the riot that had taken place here before. As she went further in, the light grew dimmer. Li Hanyan pressed the switch, but the lights were already useless.
Upon entering the back kitchen, the brightness was noticeably lower. Li Hanyan hadn’t expected the back kitchen to be so dark. It was a good thing she had opened her Heavenly Eye. She closed her eyes, gathered her qi in her eyes, and when she opened them again, her pupils had turned golden.
She looked around and found nothing. Then she looked up and saw a drooling, spider-like monster clinging to the ceiling. Its belly was huge, its whole body was as pale as snow, its pupils glowed red, and it was wearing some tattered rags that barely covered some parts.
Seeing Li Hanyan looking at it, it quickly attacked, drooling as it pounced towards her.
Li Hanyan untied the white wrapping of her Evil-Dispelling Sword and swung it at the pouncing monster. Instantly, a wail echoed throughout the small restaurant.
