Chapter 52: Sister Feng~ Let Me Touch It
Zhang Can’er was nestled in Wan Feng’s arms, lightly tapping her nose and smiling. “Why are you so afraid of learning? With your skills, you must have put in a lot of hard work. Why can’t you put in the effort to farm?”
Wan Feng squinted her eyes, her consciousness a bit hazy. After listening to an hour of lecturing, hearing Zhang Can’er’s voice now made her even sleepier. But she still had to answer Zhang Can’er’s question.
“I just don’t want to learn these things that require brainpower. If you want me to practice martial arts, that’s fine. But if you want me to memorize things, then forget it. If it weren’t for my father…”
After a pause, Wan Feng composed herself and continued, “If he hadn’t forced me to study, I probably wouldn’t even be able to read now.”
Zhang Can’er looked at Wan Feng’s tightly furrowed brow and reached out to smooth it. “Your father is also doing it for your own good. At least you have a father who worries about you. But my parents divorced when I was very young. I was awarded to my father, but he directly threw me to his elderly parents, who are my grandparents. When I was twenty, they passed away.”
Wan Feng became a little more awake. Looking at the somewhat sad Zhang Can’er, she tightened her embrace.
“Grandpa and Grandma will always be watching over you from heaven. Look, you’ve gained a skill, and you’re so powerful. Maybe it’s because of them.”
Zhang Can’er smiled and poked Wan Feng’s face. “I’m fine. I just wanted to say that if you have a chance to learn, you must not let it go. Because some people want to learn but may not have the chance.”
Wan Feng looked at her, a hint of doubt in her eyes.
But Zhang Can’er closed her eyes and said no more. Wan Feng thought she was sleepy and didn’t press further.
She really wanted to know about Zhang Can’er’s past, but she wouldn’t force her to say it. Even if she never said it, it was no big deal. It was enough for her to just love her silently.
But Zhang Can’er suddenly spoke, “Grandpa and Grandma were getting older and older, and my biological father didn’t send a single penny back during my junior high school years. So I deliberately lowered my grades to make them think I couldn’t get into high school.
“This way, Grandpa wouldn’t have to do hard labor to support my studies, and I could grow and sell vegetables with Grandma. When I got a little older, I started to catch fish and shrimp with Uncle Jiang and the others. I learned very seriously, because if I didn’t, the family would have no income.
“There would be no money to buy medicine for Grandpa’s back. And fish and shrimp couldn’t be caught all year round, so I also started to grow vegetables. I also learned the skill of saying the right thing to the right person.”
Zhang Can’er didn’t open her eyes when she spoke, and there was no expression on her face, as if she were narrating someone else’s story.
But Wan Feng knew how hard this life was, and how many disdainful looks and taunts she would have to endure. Junior high, an age where she hadn’t even grown up yet, a little girl had to bear the burden of the family.
Tears quietly fell. Wan Feng held her even tighter. But Zhang Can’er pushed her away a little and wiped her tears with her sleeve.
Holding her face, she smiled. “So, will you study farming with me tomorrow, okay?”
Wan Feng immediately held back her tears, sniffled, and said with a wronged expression, “I’m feeling sorry for you. Don’t you think what you’re saying is very inappropriate?”
“Why are you feeling sorry for me? Xiao Feng and the others only went to elementary school. It’s a very common thing in our village. Are you overthinking something? Hmm?” A hint of cunning light appeared in her beautiful peach blossom eyes. Wan Feng saw it clearly.
She said unnaturally, “I… I’m not overthinking it. I just feel sorry for you.”
Zhang Can’er squinted her eyes and laughed a little loudly. “Sister Feng, you’re making me want to bully you. What should I do?”
Wan Feng’s ear tips turned red. She turned around, turned off the light, and then lay down with her back to Zhang Can’er.
Zhang Can’er moved closer to her and poked Wan Feng’s back, whispering, “Are you angry?”
Seeing no reaction from Wan Feng, Zhang Can’er sat up. By the moonlight, she looked down at the person pretending to be asleep. The light was not very bright, and she could only see a rough outline, but it was enough.
Leaning down, Zhang Can’er whispered in Wan Feng’s ear, “Sister Feng, don’t be angry, okay? At worst, I’ll let you kiss me.”
Hearing this, Wan Feng opened her eyes, startled, and quickly sat up, turning on the light.
“Do you know what you’re saying?”
Zhang Can’er blinked her eyes, not understanding why Wan Feng had such a big reaction. She had clearly kissed her while she was asleep today. Why was she acting as if she had done something wrong?
She pouted with a wronged expression and whispered, “Why such a big reaction? Is it not okay to let you kiss me? But you can’t kiss me on the lips again. That place… makes me feel strange.”
Wan Feng stared at Zhang Can’er with wide eyes. Hearing her words, she was so angry she almost laughed. “I kissed you, and you’re not scolding me? You should at least call me a hooligan, right?”
“Didn’t you just touch my lips lightly? We’re best friends. This is very normal. Why should I scold you?” Zhang Can’er couldn’t quite understand.
Wan Feng was stunned for a moment. So Zhang Can’er only knew about the last one, and not the first one at all. She was a little disappointed, but more so, she was relieved. She swore that she would never do this kind of thing again, taking advantage of someone’s situation. It made her heart feel all over the place.
“Kissing on the lips is not normal,” Wan Feng said with a frown. She was hesitating whether to confess now. But the thought of Zhang Can’er showing that guilty expression was unbearable. She was in a dilemma.
Suddenly, she felt a soft touch on her lips and saw Zhang Can’er’s enlarged face. Instantly, Wan Feng’s breathing stopped, and her mind went blank.
Zhang Can’er just touched her lightly and then left, raising her eyebrows. “What’s not normal? Isn’t this what best friends do?”
Taking a deep breath, Wan Feng pushed her away and said with some helplessness, “Yes, you’re right.”
The two words “best friends” instantly shattered the courage Wan Feng had just mustered. Even after all this, Zhang Can’er still thought it was just friendship. What else could she say?
With a sigh, she looked at Zhang Can’er and said, “Let’s sleep. I’m turning off the light.”
“What’s wrong with you? Why are you suddenly so dejected?” Zhang Can’er asked with a frown, not understanding.
“It’s nothing. Maybe you just sucked away my essence,” Wan Feng said without any emotion.
Zhang Can’er smiled and hit her. “You! You know how to tease me now.”
Wan Feng forced a smile and then lay down. Just as she closed her eyes, she felt a weight on her body.
Zhang Can’er was completely pressed on top of her. The most crucial thing was that her hands were not behaving. They had already slipped under Wan Feng’s clothes and, as expected, touched the V-line she had been wanting to touch for a long time.
Wan Feng grabbed the mischievous hand, her breathing becoming chaotic. Her face was so red it was unbelievable, not to mention her already bright red ears.
“Can’er… don’t mess around, okay?” Wan Feng was very helpless. She really couldn’t hold on any longer.
Zhang Can’er lay on top of her. In the darkness, her pair of peach blossom eyes were smiling so much they were squinted. Then she whispered in Wan Feng’s ear, “Sister Feng~ just let me touch it. I’ve been craving it for a long time. I can only look and not touch every time. It’s such torture.”
