Facing Lilith’s demand for a kiss, Wang Yue offered a faint smile.
“Sorry, but I prefer to be the one in control.”
Without a moment’s hesitation, she raised her wand. Splitting Sword—multi-strike!
The primary reason she had consistently rejected Lilith’s advances was the girl’s overwhelming possessiveness and overbearing nature. Had Lilith been a bit softer, cuter, or even shy, Wang Yue might have felt a spark of sympathy and given in.
But from start to finish, Lilith had been violent and wild, behaving more like a predator looking for a bite than a suitor.
That simply wouldn’t do.
The Splitting Sword tore through the air with a piercing whistle!
Lilith’s figure blurred as she dodged repeatedly; attacks of this caliber were useless against her. While the weather prevented retreat, jumping side-to-side didn’t trigger the environmental damage.
Meanwhile, Wang Yue was still analyzing the mechanics of the Gullet Weather.
It was an exceptionally cruel phenomenon. She was only managing because she had done her homework, researching the Weather Forecast’s data before the match began. Furthermore, she had her shields; even if she was forced back, the weather would only shatter her protection.
Had she been without shields, her bare skin would have come into direct contact with the eerie mist. It was terrifying to imagine what would happen then.
Gullet Weather functioned like a tunnel lined with inward-facing barbs; retreating was impossible.
Wang Yue’s mind raced—if she adjusted her direction slightly, she might be able to move at a tangential angle.
Her feet slid across the ground, moving in a curve relative to the line connecting her and her opponent. In boxing, this was known as a circling step.
The invisible sharpness of the wind scraped against her personal space, producing a bone-chilling screech like porcelain grinding on glass. Though it dealt no damage, the sensation was hair-raising, as if she were passing through the literal maw of a shark lined with razor-sharp teeth.
Tangential movement was viable.
Lilith didn’t give her much time to adapt. With a flicker of movement, the blonde girl lunged forward!
The High-Frequency Particle Blade trailed a brilliant ribbon of light in its wake. Upon closing the distance, Lilith swung in a wide arc, aiming straight for Wang Yue’s neck!
Though Wang Yue dodged to the side ahead of time, the particle blade still grazed her. Three layers of her shielding vanished instantly. She hurriedly crushed a Medium Shield Recharge to replenish them, only to take another hit that stripped three more layers!
This girl is too ferocious… Wang Yue grumbled internally.
Engaging Lilith in close quarters placed her under immense, constant pressure. The blonde girl looked like a tiny doll, but her destructive power was no different from a rampaging grizzly bear.
Trapped between a white-hot blade and the inability to retreat, Wang Yue was forced to use every trick in her book to evade. Her shields were being peeled away layer by layer, like a piece of fruit held in Lilith’s hand, slowly being pared down.
The blonde girl practically salivated, waiting to feast on the tender, succulent flesh beneath.
Wang Yue was clearly losing ground, but she refused to give up. She had long since overcome any psychological hang-ups about her younger form. Even if she lost to Lilith this time, she would just work harder to win it back later. She wouldn’t suffer a mental breakdown, and she certainly wouldn’t succumb to becoming Lilith’s lapdog!
Finally, her persistence was rewarded. The weather shifted!
Abruptly, the “Gullet” mist vanished!
Wang Yue instantly backed away. With the expansion of the combat area, Lilith could no longer suppress her so easily. The duel evolved into a chase.
This was where the advantage of infinite mana truly shone. Wang Yue unleashed a barrage of witchcraft. She didn’t even care about direct hits; as long as the spells grazed Lilith’s hitboxes to chip away at her shields, it was a win. After all, her mana was bottomless.
Lilith grew increasingly frustrated. There were times she clearly dodged the physical projectile, but the “判定” (system’s hit detection) still registered damage because her own shields made her target profile significantly larger.
After the Gullet Weather concluded, the Weather Forecast emitted a strange sound like shifting boulders. Ash-like debris began to fall from the sky.
Wang Yue recognized this: Suspended Stone Weather.
These debris particles contained supernatural power, capable of attracting sand and stone to reshape the terrain.
Accompanied by a rustling sound, the grit on the ground rose into the air like an hourglass flowing backward. It converged toward the floating debris, condensing into floating stone spikes of various sizes.
These spikes were jagged and sharp, resembling the flint spears used by primitive humans—pitted, lustrous, and incredibly hard.
Lilith continued her assault, seemingly tireless. The High-Frequency Particle Blade danced in her hands, shifting between aggressive slashes and elegant Circle Dances. Every strike was heavy and powerful, carving out massive, fan-shaped arcs of light!
However, when the blade cut through the suspended stones, the particle edge was significantly obstructed and drained.
“Damn it, these stupid rocks…”
As a high-tier witchcraft, the High-Frequency Particle Blade consumed too much of Lilith’s mana to be used incessantly. She was forced to slow her offensive.
