Lilith swore she would have her “revenge.”
If shame could be measured, the sheer humiliation she had endured in just the last minute outweighed the collective embarrassment of her entire life!
Moreover, as she sorted through her memories, she realized that almost every shameful moment she had ever experienced was caused by Wang Yue. The girl was utterly sinful. From the start of the semester until now, whenever Lilith closed her eyes, fragmented memories would surface, stinging her heart. Yet, within that sharp pain, there was a strange, unsettling hint of comfort.
Currently, that hateful brat was holding her hand, saying things like, “Since you want it so badly, let’s do it together,” acting for all the world like she was doing Lilith a favor while reaping all the benefits.
Aaargh!
Hateful, hateful, hateful…
I’ll let you enjoy this for a few days. Once I recover my magic, I will definitely…
Lilith’s eyes darted around as she racked her brain, dreaming up various “punishment plays.”
For example, she would make Wang Yue solve a thousand-piece puzzle. Over a long period, she would watch as Wang Yue’s sense of achievement built up piece by piece. Then, when only a few pieces remained and Wang Yue was on the verge of total satisfaction, Lilith would kick the entire thing apart!
Or, she would forbid Wang Yue from eating anything except what Lilith personally fed her. She would starve the girl for two or three days until her stomach was hollow and her throat parched. Wang Yue would have to crawl at her feet, her cracked lips chasing the swaying spoon of food in Lilith’s hand, never quite reaching it. She would have to look up with aggrieved eyes and beg for a reward. And even when she finally got a bite, she would have to say, “Thank you, Lilith, for the meal,” before she could have another… and so on and so forth.
Lilith swore she would lick, rub, squeeze, scratch, tear, and crush Wang Yue’s heart and soul until she could mold the girl into a shape she liked. Then, she would hold her tightly in her arms and fall asleep peacefully to the melody of a music box. Only then could she wash away the disgrace Wang Yue had brought upon her!
The prerequisite for all of this, however, was recovering her strength.
Even then, regaining her power would only bring them to an even footing. If she wanted to truly “play” with her, she still had a long and difficult road ahead.
As for the collapse of her faith, Lilith didn’t regret it. On the contrary, knowing the secret made her feel much lighter.
That bastard Wang Yue… Why couldn’t she have just told me? She made me waste a Command Spell… If I still had it, I wouldn’t be this passive, completely unable to resist.
She definitely did it on purpose!
Lilith had long realized that Wang Yue’s obedient and cute exterior was just a mask. In reality, she was a self-centered individual who guarded a strange set of personal principles and was incredibly difficult to break. Otherwise, Lilith wouldn’t have developed such a fierce desire to conquer her.
Any other little girl would have likely crumbled under Lilith’s pressure within three minutes, yet Wang Yue not only held her ground but found ways to counter-attack at every opportunity. It was… truly interesting!
Lilith rolled around on the bed, clutching her pillow, too excited to sleep.
The next day.
On the way to the teacher’s office, Lilith followed behind Wang Yue without a word, acting like a “Little Tail.” In her mind, however, she was obsessing over ways to restore her faith and planning her “grand revenge.”
She refused to ask Wang Yue for help with this. Doing so would be no different than sticking out her own rear and turning back with a flushed face to say, “Please take care of me.”
Asking a teacher was obviously a suicidal move. After much thought, the only option left was to consult the library’s archives.
She had heard that the library housed a deity named “White Fish” who could index keywords. She planned to seek help from that god.
The faculty office was thick with the aroma of coffee. The two girls approached Professor Sabrina’s desk to inquire about their Extracurricular Practice assignments.
“You two certainly have a high enthusiasm for learning, Student Wang Yue, Student Lilith,” Professor Sabrina said with a smile.
“The crisis is predictable. It’s like seeing a rhino charging at you from a distance; it would be far too late to start preparing only once it arrives,” Wang Yue replied with a slight bow.
“Hmph, you’re just like a little rabbit—cowardly and insecure, wishing you could dig three holes just to hide yourself!” Lilith seized the chance to mock her.
“Though there are geographical barriers, the Evernight Realm is a single entity. The risks from high-security zones will eventually bleed into the safer areas, so one must prepare early,” Wang Yue said. She reached out and pinched Lilith’s tender earlobe, which was peeking through her long hair, and added with a smile, “Lilith is the one who’s like a rabbit. Red eyes, white skin… so cute.”
“Well said. Risks do propagate. Furthermore, the high-ranking officials of the Holy Kingdom and the powerhouses of the Outer Lands will surely enter Evernight to seek refuge. They ignore geographical barriers. Sooner or later, they will come into conflict with us,” Professor Sabrina praised.
Lilith swatted Wang Yue’s hand away, her annoyance boiling over. Ugh, there she goes again, acting like the perfect student. I can’t stand it! If the professor knew your true face—that this ‘good student’ and ‘precious baby’ literally dug a hole through the school—I wonder what she’d think?
Lilith puffed out her cheeks and glared at Wang Yue, her eyes screaming: I’m going to tell her! I’ll drag you down with me! Stop bullying me!
Wang Yue immediately shot a look back: Don’t blow us both up! I’m begging you!
Lilith pursed her lips, smiled triumphantly, and lowered her gaze.
Hmph. I’ll let it slide this time. Consider yourself spared.
“My, you two certainly get along well!” Teacher Vida’s voice rang out from the side.
Four eyes instantly snapped toward her, startling her.
“Eep…”
At that moment, Professor Sabrina spoke up.
“The catalog for the practice assignments is in the room next door. Pay attention to the timeliness of the tasks; it’s possible that by the time you reach the location, the issue will have already been resolved. The local Explorers’ Guild will have the most up-to-date information, so follow their lead.”
Wang Yue and Lilith went to the adjacent file room and found the latest edition of the Extracurricular Practice catalog.
Wang Yue noticed that most of the tasks involved solving social production or public security issues—essentially missions tailored for witches by the Explorers’ Guild.
There were even infrastructure and water conservancy tasks like “building roads,” “dredging rivers,” and “reclaiming wasteland.” They were basically using witches as manual labor.
The difficulty of the assignments was ranked from S1 to S5.
Flipping further back, she found tasks starting with the letter G, also ranked 1 through 5.
“What do the prefixes for these assignments mean?” Wang Yue asked.
“The S-series are ordinary assignments. The G-series are assignments where there are signs of divine presence. As you know, dealing with gods is a witch’s specialty. The advanced courses of Ancient Theology involve content on how to dismantle and harvest deities,” Teacher Vida explained.
“A specialty indeed,” Lilith said with a knowing smile. She desperately wanted to add: We even keep them as pets.
Wang Yue looked down at Teacher Vida and asked, “The Explorers aren’t very good at handling divine incidents?”
The teacher smiled faintly. “Only a god can deal with a god.”
She stood on her tiptoes to slide a stack of documents into a bookshelf and warned, “You should only choose Rank 1 or 2 assignments. At most, do not exceed Rank 3, or you will die a miserable death—or perhaps suffer something far worse than death.”
“Thank you for the warning.”
“Also, the danger doesn’t just come from the missions; it comes from yourselves. Pure little witches—a pair of them, no less—with such a beautiful emotional bond… that’s enough to stimulate the desires of almost any person, or even any intelligent creature,” Vida’s tone suddenly turned low and ominous. “Don’t be too naive.”
Wang Yue scanned down the G-catalog until, suddenly, a familiar name caught her eye.
Rank G3 Assignment: Secret Window Society.
