The words “young woman” stabbed Xiong Yibai like a needle.
A bad premonition gripped her heart!
Xiong Yibai’s face paled, and she immediately dashed toward the hospital entrance!
She couldn’t even wait for the elevator and bolted down the stairwell instead.
As she burst out of the hospital doors, she saw a large crowd gathered by the roadside. Several medical staff in white coats and nurse uniforms were huddled together, busy at work.
Xiong Yibai’s heart sank to the bottom. She desperately pushed forward, catching a glimpse through the gaps in the crowd of a person lying on the ground.
They wore dark clothing that seemed like workwear… That figure… It really looked like Feng Miwan!
She wanted to squeeze in for a closer look, but there were too many onlookers blocking the way.
Just as the medical staff prepared to lift the injured person onto the stretcher and wheel them into the hospital, Xiong Yibai panicked and lost her composure:
“Little Honey! Let me through! Little Honey!”
No sooner had the words left her mouth than a familiar voice sounded from behind her:
“Little Honey?”
Xiong Yibai whipped around to see Feng Miwan standing perfectly fine just a few steps away, holding two cups of freshly bought milk tea.
It turned out that while Feng Miwan waited at the hospital entrance, she had seen Xiong Yibai rush out like a gust of wind. She had wanted to call out, but Xiong Yibai was already gone.
Worried that something was wrong, she hurried after her and witnessed Xiong Yibai’s anxious shouting.
Feng Miwan stepped forward, glanced puzzled at the dispersing crowd and the departing stretcher, then looked at the still-shaken Xiong Yibai. She asked in confusion:
“Yibai, why were you running so frantically? Isn’t the injured person already being handled by the doctors?”
She assumed Xiong Yibai was reacting out of professional instinct as a doctor.
Xiong Yibai stared at the unharmed Feng Miwan before her and opened her mouth, momentarily at a loss for words:
“Ah… It’s nothing.”
Feng Miwan wasn’t so easily fooled. She tilted her head, leaned in closer, and pressed:
“That’s not right. I clearly heard you shout ‘Little Honey’! Who’s Little Honey?”
Xiong Yibai awkwardly changed the subject:
“No, no, I… I must have seen wrong. Let’s head to the attractions first. It might get crowded if we’re late.”
With that, she turned and walked toward the roadside.
Though Feng Miwan was still baffled, she quickly caught up and handed one of the milk teas to Xiong Yibai:
“Fine, fine, if you don’t want to say. Here, I bought this for you—half sugar, no ice. You should like it.”
Xiong Yibai took the milk tea and murmured, “Thanks.”
The two hailed a taxi at the roadside and gave the driver their destination.
The car merged into Modu’s evening traffic, with neon lights beginning to flicker on outside the window.
Feng Miwan leaned back in her seat, intending to check the time on her phone, only to find the screen black—dead battery.
“Aiya, I played games all afternoon, and now my phone’s dead.”
She muttered softly, then turned to Xiong Yibai, who appeared to be admiring the night view but was actually still feeling a bit uneasy about her earlier slip-up. She extended her hand.
“Yibai, can I borrow your phone? I need to send a voice message to my brother.”
Xiong Yibai’s thoughts were drifting, but she didn’t think twice about the request. She pulled out her phone, unlocked it, and handed it over.
“Sure, here.”
Feng Miwan took the phone, opened WeChat, and was about to search for contacts…
Her movements froze.
Her gaze locked onto the pinned chat at the very top.
It was a cool avatar of someone wearing a racing helmet.
And next to the avatar, the saved name wasn’t “Feng Miwan” or “Wanwan”—it was—
Honey.
In that instant, all the clues connected in Feng Miwan’s mind!
Earlier at the hospital entrance, Yibai’s desperate shout of “Little Honey”!
So… it was her all along!
In the few seconds Feng Miwan stared blankly at the screen, Xiong Yibai suddenly snapped back to reality!
She realized what she’d done.
“Wait! Hold on!”
Xiong Yibai hurriedly spoke up, reaching to take the phone back.
But it was too late.
Feng Miwan turned the screen toward Xiong Yibai, pointing at the “Honey” label with a grin creeping across her face:
“Ohhh—so Little Honey—is me, huh?”
Xiong Yibai feigned composure: “Give me back my phone. Didn’t you need to message your brother?”
“Yeah, but it’s pinned so obviously, I couldn’t miss it even if I tried.”
Feng Miwan hid the phone behind her back and leaned toward Xiong Yibai, her smile widening.
“Yibai, so you secretly gave me such a cute nickname?”
Xiong Yibai struggled to stay calm: “It’s just… a random label. Give me the phone already.”
Feng Miwan shook her head with a playful grin: “Really just random?”
Xiong Yibai completely surrendered.
She slumped back into her seat, turned her cheek toward the window, and mumbled:
“It’s just… it fits. Your name sounds a lot like ‘honey’…”
Feng Miwan stopped pressing and returned the phone:
“Ooh~ So that’s it. But… I really like the nickname ‘Little Honey.'”
Xiong Yibai took the phone, shoved it back into her pocket, and didn’t glance at Feng Miwan again: “…Mm.”
The atmosphere in the car grew subtly charged.
Feng Miwan felt like she could float away with joy. She finally understood the unprecedented panic Xiong Yibai had shown at the hospital entrance.
“Yibai, don’t worry. From now on, whether I’m driving or walking, I’ll be extra careful. I absolutely won’t get into an accident.”
Xiong Yibai paused for several seconds before responding: “…Got it.”
The taxi pulled up near their destination.
As soon as they got out, Feng Miwan said:
“Yibai, wait for me here. I’ll go borrow a power bank from that convenience store!”
She dashed off to the corner store and returned shortly, waving her revived phone.
“All set! Let’s go, Yibai—we’re gonna have a great time exploring!”
Modu’s night was ablaze with brilliant lights, full of allure.
They strolled slowly along the bustling pedestrian street. Feng Miwan was interested in everything—now pulling Xiong Yibai to watch a street performer’s act, now drawn by the aroma to a food stall.
“Yibai, these takoyaki balls look so tasty! Shall we get some?”
“Sure.”
“Wow! They’re selling those glow-in-the-dark cotton candy over there! Want one?”
“…You eat it.”
“Then we’ll share one? Just a bite!”
Feng Miwan gently took Xiong Yibai’s hand, tugging her from place to place.
They shared snacks—Feng Miwan stuck her tongue out from the spice, and Xiong Yibai calmly handed her a bottle of mineral water.
They stood on the observation deck overlooking the city nightscape, the evening breeze caressing them in a serene, beautiful moment.
