Avira took the letter and frowned slightly.
She didn’t even need to open it to guess that it was from Belis. The fact that this second letter had arrived after such a long delay was unexpected. She had assumed the Blood Clan would be annihilated like before, so she had stopped paying attention to their affairs. However, Avira still remembered the full context and could imagine what had happened on their side.
“Is it from Berika?”
“Yes, I’m handling Lady Oleniya’s duties and received this letter on her behalf.”
“You’ve worked hard.” Avira nodded. “But I need to make dinner for the idiot Demon King first before dealing with it.”
“Berika looks quite urgent…”
“No need.”
“Understood.” Molly nodded and followed along.
Hearing Avira’s words, Catherine and Freyna both stepped aside, not saying a word throughout.
Avira skillfully chopped vegetables and lit the fire. She glanced at Molly with the corner of her eye.
Head Maid, Molly.
The Soul Devouring Demon was supposed to be one of the highest-class demons, theoretically as powerful as a Crystal Dragon. Molly’s current status suited her race perfectly.
Molly walked up to the two women and lifted their chins one by one, playfully examining their faces.
The pair showed no disgust. They even held hands, their faces flushed as they rubbed against each other, clearly enjoying their master’s touch… So, to outsiders, the interactions between familiars and their master looked this shameful!
Avira quickly turned her head away.
She wondered what humans would think if they saw the three former strongest humans reduced to this state.
Avira tried to pretend she hadn’t seen it, but then Catherine made a sound from Freyna’s ministrations…
“Mmph, don’t touch there!”
“Ahem.”
Avira glanced at them, praying they could show a little shame instead of playing such strange games right in front of her.
“Molly, how are things with your subordinates now?”
“They’ve willingly fallen into being my toys, so no need to worry about us~”
Their little movements didn’t decrease because of Avira’s words.
“…”
“Try to restrain yourselves a bit.” Avira finally grumbled helplessly.
“Hee hee, Lady Avira, aren’t you happier with the Demon King? How many kids is it now?”
“You little…”
Avira didn’t bother arguing with Molly.
Was she doing this to satisfy some base desire?
No, it was all for the grand plan in her heart—everything was utterly rational!
By this point, Avira had finished cooking.
She should have taken it to the dining room, but thinking of the idiot at home who wouldn’t get out of bed, she placed several portions of omelet rice and tea on a tray and carried it back to the bedroom.
She had been pondering how to explain the Blood Clan’s situation to Ophitia.
After all, this was her master’s rare vacation. If work interfered, her mood would sour.
She couldn’t let Ophitia be sad.
But if she didn’t report it honestly and hid it from Ophitia, it might trigger the Dominator’s Seal. And if Ophitia found out later, she’d only be more hurt.
As soon as she reached the bedroom and opened the door, Avira was surprised to find she didn’t need to worry about that for now…
Ophitia had fallen asleep again!
She set the tray on the table and walked to Ophitia’s side.
“You’re always so cute, completely defenseless with me.”
Avira murmured unconsciously.
She hadn’t expected those words to slip out. She quickly covered her mouth. Why had that thought come up so suddenly? She shook her head—no more random thoughts.
“Master, time to eat.”
Ophitia opened one eye halfway and yawned.
“Just a bit more sleep… Mmph!” Before Ophitia could keep lazing, Avira leaned in and kissed her. She instantly perked up, but just as she wanted to savor it more, Avira pulled away. In the blink of an eye, the dragon egg on her belly had vanished, returned to Avira’s embrace.
“Fine, fine, I’m getting up~”
With Oleniya gone, those guys might not make food she liked, so Avira had cooked herself.
Avira had no intention of giving Ophitia chores. During the meal, she said, “Leave the egg incubation to me. Actually, we have a very special guest coming today.”
She took out the letter.
“Hmm?” Ophitia was still chewing her omelet rice, mumbling goofily due to lack of energy. She swallowed the food in her mouth after taking the envelope.
“The letter is from Lilina.”
“Lilina? That woman didn’t die?” Ophitia took a sip of her bubbly juice.
“No, and she’s claiming she wants to trade with us demons.”
“What chips does she have?”
“The Seal.”
Avira smiled. “I didn’t expect her to obtain the Seal even before Pomistan and the Holy Church. The Blood Clan was supposed to be enslaved or wiped out—you know that, right?”
“I remember.” Ophitia nodded.
The Blood Clan had plunged into dire straits, though the situation was much better than before the time reversal. Avira had thought they might avoid immediate extinction but would eventually perish, turned into energy cores by Pomistan.
Strangely, it seemed all events were piling up at once.
The world had been so quiet while the dragon egg was developing.
“Sorry, Master. Looks like today’s vacation is off.”
“Guh…” Ophitia stared at the letter, seemingly spotting something important. Seeing Ophitia perk up, Avira quickly said:
“Let me handle it instead. It’s just a small matter.”
“I don’t think so. It’s minor for us, but for Lilina, it seems like a matter of life and death.”
“She might just think she’s about to die.”
“You’re such a kind person, Avira. No wonder humans saw you as a Saintess. You have zero interest in manipulating hearts.”
In simple terms, the letter’s contents were a plea for help.
When the parties couldn’t offer equal value, it wasn’t even a trade—it was a supplication, charity from the strong to the weak.
Avira walked behind Ophitia and looked at the stained paper beneath the dark red envelope. It seemed this was the most intact one Lilina could find.
“Dearest Lady Avira, please allow me to apologize to you. Though I know this doesn’t represent my sincerity, I beg you—I’m willing to dig out my heart and offer it to you, just for a chance to meet once…”
