After pulling Senior Sister Yuqi back to sleep for a while longer, Liang Sheng finally started feeling better. She opened her eyes and reflected on her earlier behavior… only to be overcome with embarrassment. Glancing at Gu Yuqi, who was sleeping soundly beside her, she bit her finger and tiptoed toward the edge of the bed, preparing to sneak away.
“Liang Sheng?”
Liang Sheng jolted in surprise. Senior Sister slept so lightly.
“Se-Senior Sister, I’m feeling much better now. I should head home, or Mom will start worrying.” Liang Sheng rummaged around on the floor for her slippers.
Gu Yuqi sat up on the bed as well, rubbing her tousled black hair. “I’ll walk you home. I wouldn’t feel right letting you go alone.”
Hee hee, Senior Sister Yuqi was as gentle as ever. Liang Sheng slipped on her slippers and headed downstairs.
They walked in silence. As they neared Liang Sheng’s house, Gu Yuqi gently took hold of her hand. She turned her head aside, scratched at her neck with her other hand, and said awkwardly, “Liang Sheng, come find me to hang out whenever you have time.”
Liang Sheng stopped in her tracks and grinned up at Gu Yuqi. Oh my gosh, she didn’t even need to see that expression to know—Senior Sister Yuqi was definitely blushing~ Deliberately circling around to her other side, Liang Sheng tried to catch a glimpse of her face.
Seeing this, Gu Yuqi quickly lifted her head and stared up at the sky.
“Hahaha!” Liang Sheng burst into delighted laughter. “Senior Sister, you’re so cute!”
Hah, this girl actually called her cute. Gu Yuqi shot her a mock glare of reproach and reached out to pinch her junior sister’s cheek.
At the doorstep, Liang Sheng turned around. “Senior Sister, you can head back now. I’ve made it home.”
Gu Yuqi wasn’t reassured and insisted on watching her go inside. Liang Sheng had no choice but to comply obediently.
Only after confirming that Liang Sheng had entered through the gate did Gu Yuqi finally turn and leave, satisfied.
A moment later, a small head poked out from Liang Sheng’s front door. She looked left and right, and seeing no one around, cautiously stepped outside.
“Kazuko, let’s head to Young Miss Lu Ziqing’s house!” Liang Sheng declared with fierce determination as she marched toward the neighborhood entrance.
Kazuko followed curiously. “Hey, what made you suddenly think of your Young Miss?”
Liang Sheng puffed out her cheeks in frustration. “Su Ze. I have to confront him head-on at least once! Otherwise, he’ll keep thinking I’m some Hello Kitty pushover!”
“Hello… Kitty?” Kazuko despaired over Liang Sheng’s English pronunciation.
They hailed a taxi. Kazuko raised a hand and felt Liang Sheng’s forehead worriedly. “You’re not going to start burning up again, are you?”
Liang Sheng patted her slender frame, intending to assure her she was fine, but ended up in a fit of violent coughing instead.
When they arrived at Lu Ziqing’s house, Liang Sheng stared up at the grand villa, feeling a twinge of nervousness. She pulled out her phone and dialed Lu Ziqing’s number.
“Hello? Liang Sheng?”
Liang Sheng immediately switched to a cutesy tone. “Hiii~ Young Miss~ I miss you so much~”
“Hmph~” On the other end, Lu Ziqing’s lips curved into a smile as she struggled to hold back her laughter. “What, it’s only been a few days and you’re already missing me?”
“Yeah! I’ve been pining for you so hard these past few days that I can’t eat or sleep. Waaah~” Liang Sheng let out a few fake sniffles, pretending to be heartbroken.
Lu Ziqing couldn’t hold back her laughter anymore. To keep from bursting out too obviously, she pursed her lips tight—only to turn beet red in the face as her composure completely crumbled. “Ahem, if you miss me that much, then just come over. I’m not busy anyway, so I suppose I can hang out with you for a bit.”
Pfft, such a tsundere. Liang Sheng stifled a giggle. She clearly missed her too but had to beat around the bush instead of admitting it. So typical of the Young Miss.
“Young Miss, I’m actually right at your front gate~ Come open up and let me in~”
“Ah?” Lu Ziqing dashed to the window and peered toward the entrance. The lawn was so vast and the gate so distant—money really did make people capricious—but she could just make out a vague little shadow outside.
“Wait there, I’ll go open it right now… Ahem, our butlers are all busy, so I have to do it myself. Just hold on a sec.” Lu Ziqing fought to contain her excitement.
Though she told Liang Sheng to wait outside, she herself was in a huge rush. She hung up and immediately rummaged through the closet for a padded jacket. Then she checked her reflection in the mirror, nodding in satisfaction at how pretty she looked. But somehow, her outfit still didn’t feel fancy enough, so she dove back into the closet for a sweater, planning to change into something cuter before seeing Liang Sheng.
She had no idea why she was getting so worked up. All she knew was that the thought of meeting Liang Sheng made her desperate to look perfect.
After fussing over herself for what felt like forever, Lu Ziqing worried Liang Sheng might get impatient. Forgetting all about her Young Miss dignity, she bolted out the door. At the hallway corner, she collided head-on with someone who had appeared out of nowhere—”Thud!”
“Ow~” Lu Ziqing rubbed the back of her head and looked down at Su Ze, who was sitting on the floor just like her.
“What are you doing? Watch where you’re going.” Lu Ziqing dusted off her pants and stood up, not waiting for Su Ze’s response before racing downstairs.
Su Ze stared at Lu Ziqing’s hurried retreating figure, a strange feeling gnawing at him—something felt off. He trailed after the Young Miss, determined to see what she was up to.
Hearing footsteps behind her, Lu Ziqing glanced back and spotted Su Ze following. In the past, she would have been thrilled, but not this time. She called out to him, “Su Ze, what are you doing? I have something to take care of—don’t follow me.”
Su Ze’s heart sank. This was not how Young Miss Lu Ziqing used to treat him.
“Miss Ziqing, if I may ask… where are you going?”
Lu Ziqing shot him an irritated glance without slowing down—in fact, she sped up. “Liang Sheng came to see me. This is girl stuff—none of your business as a boy.”
Su Ze slowly came to a halt, his teeth grinding audibly. Liang Sheng again… tsch.
As Lu Ziqing neared the front gate, she slowed her pace, caught her breath, and sauntered toward the door with feigned nonchalance.
She swung the gate open, tilting her chin up without looking at Liang Sheng. With a little “hmph,” she said, “Come on in.”
Liang Sheng stifled a laugh at Lu Ziqing’s awkward antics. Oh ho ho, look at her panting like that while pretending to take it slow. If she wanted to see me, she could just say so~
“Hee hee hee.” Grinning, Liang Sheng launched herself at Young Miss Lu Ziqing, looping her arms around the girl’s neck from behind. Ignoring her squirms, she cooed sweetly, “Young Miss~ Did you miss me~?”
“I-I…” Lu Ziqing wasn’t about to tell the truth. “We’ve only been apart a few days. Who’s like you? As if I’d miss you—we’re not never going to see each other again. Hmph, I didn’t miss you at all!”
Liang Sheng couldn’t help but laugh. “Young Miss, Young Miss, look how much I’ve been missing you…”
