‘I wonder when the so-called “fortune” of this place will actually appear.’
Bai Sha mused silently.
Unfortunately, during her first and second lives, Yin Sha had always kept her lips sealed about the specific details, so Bai Sha knew very little about this aspect.
All she could do was continue mining.
During this process, occasional undercurrents of frigid seawater would sweep through the mine shafts. But as a Demon Cultivator who had grasped a spell, Bai Sha could handle such things well enough, and with Yin Sha watching over her, there was nothing to worry about.
One day, two days, three days… time flowed on ceaselessly.
The mining process was tedious. Bai Sha spent her time cultivating her technique, training her spell, and digging up some Water Jade Stones. It was a relatively peaceful period.
Gradually, a month passed.
A month’s worth of mining had left a sizable pile of Water Jade Stones in front of Bai Sha, which she had stuffed into a burlap sack.
She couldn’t easily judge the weight of the haul. She’d have to bring it back to the Seven-Colored Shell and use the power of the Dream Ruins to determine that.
Just then, the entire mine shaft suddenly began to tremble.
“What’s this…”
Bai Sha instantly went on high alert. Whipping her tail fin around to hook onto the sack of Water Jade Stones, she swam straight toward Yin Sha.
Yin Sha had also swiftly used her tail to snag her own sack, her eyes scanning their surroundings warily.
“Sister Yin Sha, what’s happening?” Bai Sha asked urgently.
She could feel the seawater itself growing restless, as if some momentous event was about to unfold.
Yin Sha shook her head. “I don’t know, but this is highly unusual. Let’s get out of here first.”
Turning around, Yin Sha began swimming toward the exit, and Bai Sha immediately followed.
As they swam out, the figures of Mo Hen, Hong Xing, and Hong Gang also appeared.
“Yin Sha!” Mo Hen looked her way and asked quickly, “Do you know what’s going on?”
“I have no idea. Do you have any clues?” Yin Sha replied, then asked in turn.
“We don’t know what’s happening, either.”
“Then let’s leave first.”
Faced with such an unexpected situation, Yin Sha and the other Demon Cultivators were all extremely cautious.
In the vast ocean, those who weren’t cautious enough had long since become fish food. Even after becoming Demon Cultivators, when it was time to be prudent, one had to be.
But when they reached the entrance, every single one of their faces fell.
“Where’s the path?!”
Hong Xing roared in shock and anger.
Laid out before their eyes was just an ordinary tunnel, a passage that seemed to lead deeper into the heart of the underwater mine. It was definitely not the original exit.
Clack, clack, clack. Hong Gang tapped his pincers a few times and asked, “Did we take a wrong turn?”
“I don’t think so. I’m sure this was the way.” Mo Hen’s tentacles writhed restlessly in the water, betraying his inner turmoil.
“I remember the exit being right here, too,” Yin Sha said, her voice extremely grave.
This much, Bai Sha could also confirm.
And yet, their exit had vanished without a trace, replaced by another passage that stretched out dark and deep. Why was this happening?
An Illusion Technique?
An Array?
Possibilities churned in the minds of the Demon Cultivators, making their hearts sink deeper and deeper.
Then, beyond just the trembling, they all sensed the water temperature around them beginning to rise sharply.
“Careful, something’s changing!” Yin Sha hurriedly warned.
