Amelia’s aim wasn’t the best, but at close enough range, she still managed to shoot an arrow through a man’s chest. The bandit fell with a shriek.
Only then did the other bandits react.
“It’s an Apostle, a Mid-Rank Apostle! Everyone run!”
The bandits present all had terrified expressions.
Some of them were Apostles too, even a Low-Rank Apostle, but that person was Bryce!
As a Low-Rank Apostle, Bryce hadn’t even had a chance to react before being killed outright. The rank of the attacker was easy enough to guess.
The bandits, who had been the hunters moments before, instantly became the prey, fleeing in panic in all directions.
“None of you are getting away!”
Eileen’s cold gaze swept the area. Quickly, she chased down one person after another, cutting them down before her eyes.
Amelia also loosed cold arrows from time to time.
It didn’t take long for every bandit in the caravan to be completely wiped out.
Amelia had already seen many corpses on their journey. Now, facing a large cluster of dead bodies, she had fully adapted, walking among them with a calm expression.
“Now, we search them. Find anything valuable, then set fire to the bodies,” Amelia told Eileen.
Eileen nodded.
Burning the bodies was something they did after every bandit fight. The main reason was to cover up the traces of Amelia using Wind’s Sigh.
Amelia now knew that humans basically couldn’t have Faith in the Divine Tree of Nature or the Bard’s Bow. That meant she couldn’t openly display an ability belonging to Elves, like Wind’s Sigh. She had to hide such conspicuous traits.
Among the spoils of war they’d collected from dealing with numerous bandits, there was an alchemic item used to start fires—it was called a Lighter. It was a cylinder-shaped device. Pointing its opening at prepared firewood and pressing a button would make it spew flames, making it incredibly easy to start a fire.
The two of them processed the scene with practiced ease. They finished everything in no time, then drove the carriage towards Bild City.
Eileen was driving the carriage, and Amelia was inside the cabin.
The Mana Crystal Cannon took up the most space inside the carriage. She covered it with a white cloth. Around it were all sorts of other things: jewelry, Kerr, books, water cups, a change of dress, and so on.
Now, Amelia had brought quite a few new items on board. First, she picked up a logbook and looked through it.
This logbook was a record belonging to Bryce’s group. It documented how they had met with members of the Hicks Family, how they would gain the trust of those people, and clearly noted the related information.
Amelia looked at it for a moment and grasped the situation. She then picked up a sapphire ring. This was the crucial token for gaining the Hicks Family’s trust.
Amelia put it on her finger.
“From today onwards, I am Lily Hicks!” Amelia smiled.
Hearing Amelia’s words, the bullet comments immediately stirred.
[Lily Hicks? Is Amelia planning to impersonate that person and infiltrate the Hicks Family?]
[She really gets what she needs when she needs it. Before, Amelia was thinking about how to get a good identity to live by, and now a suitable identity has come along.]
[The Hicks Family is so pitiful. In the original plot, bandits pretended to be their relatives. Now they’re about to be fooled by Amelia and her group pretending to be relatives.]
