Chapter 149 Part 3
Light extended her hand.
“Agnes, I see no reason for us to be enemies.”
“You don’t care about humans, you don’t care about elves, you just want to make your mother happy.”
“Calysia won’t blame you either.”
“Cooperate with me.”
After hearing her statement, Agnes sat stunned for a long time.
A few seconds later, she covered her mouth and started laughing.
Light tilted her head, confused, completely unable to understand why Agnes could still laugh after hearing so many heavy truths.
She is, and so is Calysia.
…
On the other side, a large door blocked the path of Mura’s group.
But before they even pushed the door open or got close to it, they discovered that both the ground and the walls had clear bloodstains and signs of a battle.
Pesa and Mura both held their breath.
Their hearts were pounding to the extreme.
“Why did they start fighting again?”
“Wait, is this orcish blood?”
Mura couldn’t tell what kind of magic power it was, but in short, it definitely wasn’t just the Pope’s group.
Reina pushed lightly, and the seven-meter-wide, ten-meter-high door was easily opened.
Outside the door was a vast, palace-like space.
The originally dark ground was now clearly visible due to the firelight of the battle and the magic crystals embedded in the walls.
The vast underground space was supported by eight skyscraper-like stone pillars.
In the corners where the four walls met, there were three golden statues in different poses and with different appearances; they stood on metal pedestals, like hundred-meter-tall works of art, but were so exquisite that they looked like three gilded figurines; around them were a dozen doors that were like mouse holes compared to the entire palace, and were exactly the same as the door the three had passed through.
And compared to these stone bricks and walls of unknown material, the blood-stained golden carpet under their feet leading straight to the majestic golden castle in the center of the palace was incredibly luxurious.
The castle occupied an area as large as five football fields, which was an exaggeration, but compared to the entire palace space, it still seemed a bit small.
Mura and Pesa were dumbfounded.
“How magnificent…”
“Is this the Goddess’s ruins?”
But Reina’s heart was calm, and she even felt a little amused.
Because this was the character selection screen from the game!
If you looked closely, the four statues in the corners were the Heavy Shield Guard, the Holy Swordsman, the Divine Archer, and the Archmage, respectively.
They corresponded to the four main classes in the game, and after that were countless branch classes…
Simply put, this damned palace was the place where the so-called “protagonist” chose their class.
Those statues were the “guardians” of the Goddess of Light. Legend had it that during the Era of Light, there were four humans who had mastered “light attribute” magic to the extreme, and were also the founders of the church’s light attribute magic.
In the original storyline, they would serve as heroic spirits to protect the protagonist.
Although that was the setting, they had basically all disappeared into the legends of the long river of history and had never appeared in the “main storyline.”
Interestingly, one of the pedestals in the corner was empty.
There were originally four statues.
Reina thought back carefully, observed, and discovered that the statue of the “Holy Swordsman” was missing.
Without time to linger, the group continued forward.
Approaching the castle, the door, as if sensing something, opened automatically, revealing the scene inside.
If Reina had to describe it, she would unhesitatingly use the word “golden.”
The floor, walls, ceiling, and even the flames were golden.
If the three statues were “guardians,” then the castle in the very center of this palace was the “treasury” of the guarded goddess.
A golden magic ray brushed past the group and caused an explosion on the golden floor outside the castle.
“Boom—!”
When the light faded, they saw that the Pope’s fingers were still emitting a dazzling golden light.
Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth, he was panting, his eyes tired, and he was facing… the Beast King Kritz!
The pungent smell of blood washed over them.
On the resplendent golden floor lay the corpses of humans and orcs.
White Cone’s fat body was pinned to the ground by a long spear, and Short Wind was “torn to pieces,” his form unrecognizable.
Paris was leaning against a wall, her life uncertain.
A completely unsurprising development.
“Pesa, Bishop Lei, quickly… support us!”
The Pope knelt on one knee, wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth.
“Hehehehe…”
“It doesn’t matter how many of you come!”
The Beast King Kritz said with a laugh. Instantly, thunder armor appeared on his massive body.
But Pesa didn’t make a sound.
Her face darkened, as if she were waiting for Reina’s decision. Reina remained silent.
At the same time, Mura stood up from her wheelchair and, almost immediately, found the golden box piled in the corner.
“It’s the seed of the [God’s Tree]! Goddess, may I take it?”
Mura also looked at Reina, also waiting for her answer.
But Reina remained silent.
She walked straight forward, with Pesa and Mura following close behind.
She walked behind the Pope, to the thing he was protecting with his life.
It was a black pool.
The murky black liquid was contained in a shimmering golden “cauldron,” about the size of three trucks.
The liquid didn’t even reflect a single ray of light.
“Only I know how to use this power… only me! Quickly assist me, Goddess!” the Pope said, turning his head.
The Beast King, wary of the Goddess of Light’s power, didn’t act rashly.
But he still said fiercely:
“Who dares to obstruct me? I’d like to see who can still stand in my way! Hahahahahaha—!”
He was wearing three Light Divine Artifacts, each one on the level of the [Judgment Blade].
Suddenly, the golden box containing the seed of the God Tree, which Mura had been so concerned about, flew into the air.
Then, it landed in a fair hand.
Mura was greatly shocked:
“Your Majesty, the Dark Elf Queen, you…”
It was a mature woman in a black dress, a mysterious smile on her face.
Behind her were hundreds of dark elves, dressed in strange clothes, following her without any signs of life.
“It’s over, orcs, humans.”
“Hand over your power, and I might still spare your lives.”
“You think so?”
The Beast King, seeing that the Pope seemed to have the goddess’s backing, his belligerent nature made him decide to attack the Dark Elf Queen Tris first.
The lightning on his arms danced like two meat grinders, and his charged punch struck the Dark Elf Queen’s body, but it was like hitting a solid wall. For a moment, the Dark Elf Queen’s frail body was like an unshakable mountain.
Seeing that the situation was not good, the Beast King wanted to dodge, but the Dark Elf Queen’s hand actually bloomed with a flower of blood, and two blood-red vines shot out, piercing through the Beast King’s forearm and sending him flying!
“Ugh—!”
The two dark elves standing in the corner behind Tris collapsed on the ground with a “thud,” their lives snuffed out in an instant.
They had lost their lives in an instant.
What was that? Could it be the [Forbidden Magic] that used life force to complete a powerful spell?
And this time, the Dark Elf Queen hadn’t used her own life force.
To ensure victory, she had brought hundreds of dark elves as her “ammunition.”
Mura fell to her knees with a “thud.” Her eyes were vacant, filled with only despair.
“This can’t be real…”
“Lady Tris… why…!”
“Tell me why…”
Rather than a question, it was more like self-doubt.
This woman, who had sworn never to use forbidden magic on her own kind…
