Chapter 54
Ji Tang woke up in the afternoon, a little after 2 PM.
The lights in the room were off. Outside, the sun was bright, but the thick curtains blocked most of the light, leaving the room quite dim.
There was no one beside her. Song Xun was gone.
The sheets and quilt had clearly been changed, and the set she had taken off yesterday to be washed was also gone. They had probably been taken out by Song Xun to be cleaned. Ji Tang didn’t mind.
She didn’t want to get up. She snuggled into the soft, warm quilt and closed her eyes again, resting for about ten minutes before reopening them.
This time, she felt much more refreshed.
But her body was incredibly sore. Even the simple act of raising her hand felt stiff, and if she moved too much, it would tremble.
But she had to move. Ji Tang was holding it in.
Alright, she had to use the bathroom. She propped herself up on the bed and slowly got up. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to be quick; she just couldn’t.
She managed to get out of bed, and as soon as her feet touched the floor, her legs trembled and went weak. She stumbled and almost fell.
She was wearing nothing, her body covered in the marks Song Xun had left, a testament to how intense last night’s battle had been.
She had wanted to stop, but alas, would a ferocious wolf cub agree?
Impossible.
Ji Tang couldn’t remember what time they had finished. She just vaguely remembered that the sun had been coming up.
This little bastard…
“Hiss!”
Ji Tang rubbed her lower back and couldn’t help but suck in a sharp breath. Maybe I should give her more meat in the future?
Was she holding it in for too long?
After finally recovering a little, Ji Tang took two light steps. There was a new set of pajamas by the bed.
It was the same style as the one she had been wearing before, probably left by Song Xun.
Dark blue, with a bit of thickness.
Her legs were trembling, and her hands were too. It was just putting on some clothes, but her body was not cooperating. She had just put on the top, and before she could button it up, or perhaps because she had been standing for too long…
Creak—
The sound of the door opening, although it was gentle, still startled Ji Tang.
Although she knew it couldn’t be anyone else, she wasn’t dressed yet. It was instinct to be shy and hide. Ji Tang quickly looked up, and as her attention shifted, her hands became flustered. Her limbs went weak, and her body uncontrollably fell to the side.
Fortunately, there was a bed next to her, soft and painless.
“Wife…”
Song Xun had originally just wanted to open the door and see if Ji Tang was awake. When she had left in the morning, she had changed the sheets and duvet and had also given her a bath. She had wanted to change her into pajamas too, but Ji Tang had been too exhausted from last night’s activities.
She seemed to be in a daze, and when she touched her, she would resist, batting her hand away.
In the end, with no other choice, Song Xun had given up and had left the clothes by the bed.
Knowing the situation, she definitely couldn’t open the door too wide. But as she peeked in and saw that Ji Tang was awake, she had just called out “wife” when she saw her fall. Song Xun was startled.
She quickly closed the door and, after a moment’s thought, locked it, to prevent the cubs from pushing the door open, which was entirely possible.
After all, she had sent them to the next room yesterday, and they had been pestering her all morning. Although she had managed to trick them, if they heard that Ji Tang was awake, they would surely rush in.
But the current Ji Tang was not to be seen by them.
Fortunately, the bed was soft, so the fall didn’t hurt. Song Xun quickly went over and half-held her in her arms.
“What’s wrong, wife? Are you uncomfortable somewhere? How did you fall?”
At these words, Ji Tang couldn’t help but laugh. “You still have the nerve to ask? Whose fault is this?”
Song Xun finally realized and laughed awkwardly.
But with her in her arms, and having eaten her fill yesterday, her eyes couldn’t help but wander down. The mark-covered body, under the dim light, had a certain broken beauty to it.
It made Song Xun’s breathing quicken.
The direct gaze made Ji Tang’s heart “thump.” Without a second thought, she pushed away her slowly approaching head.
“Can you please not go into heat right now? I can’t.”
Song Xun reluctantly retracted her gaze.
Of course, she also knew that Ji Tang couldn’t. She had been at it all night, and had only stopped when she had passed out. Song Xun herself had been stunned when she came back to her senses.
She had never thought she could be so wild.
Looking at the accusing little look in her arms, Song Xun quickly changed the subject. “Wife, let me dress you. You must be hungry. What do you want to eat?”
Ji Tang gave her a long look, without speaking.
It wasn’t until she was sure that Song Xun had given up that she finally relaxed. Song Xun was speechless. “Wife, are you really that scared? You’re in this state. Can I be so crazy as to force myself on you?”
But Ji Tang gave her a light glance. “What do you think?”
Song Xun was so embarrassed. To save her image, she sighed with great reluctance. “I promise, wife, I promise. I’ll pay attention to the time next time.”
“Half an hour,” Ji Tang said, making the final decision.
Song Xun: “…”
She shook her head without a second thought. “Impossible.”
Ji Tang was so angry she almost laughed. “Then how much longer do you want?”
Song Xun held up a finger in front of her. “How about we subtract half a point?”
Still half a point…
Ji Tang really didn’t want to talk to her anymore. She struggled out of her arms, sat on the edge of the bed, and started putting on her pants.
Song Xun poked her shoulder with her finger. “Then, wife, how about we subtract 35 minutes?”
Ji Tang really couldn’t take it anymore. She couldn’t help but get angry. “Get out. Disappear from my sight right now.”
She was afraid that looking at this bastard would make her even angrier.
But Song Xun was clearly oblivious. She clung to her and muttered, “Wife, you can’t say that. We have to be realistic. If I shorten the time too much, are you sure you’ll be satisfied…”
Before she could finish the last word, she was slapped across the mouth by Ji Tang. She didn’t know where she got the strength, but even her weak arm didn’t stop her.
The slap landed with a crisp sound.
It sounded loud, and it was loud, but it didn’t hurt Song Xun at all. With her thick skin, this little bit of pain meant nothing.
But seeing Ji Tang’s shy and angry, flushed face, the mischievous Song Xun extended her tongue and licked her palm.
The wet touch made Ji Tang’s eyes widen, and she immediately pulled her hand back. “Song Xun, you’re a pervert!”
Song Xun didn’t like hearing that. “You’re saying that about me again.”
“Then don’t do it.”
“Being intimate with my own wife, how is that perverted?”
Ji Tang didn’t want to continue bickering with her. She took a deep breath and pushed her. “I’ll go eat in a bit. You go out first…”
Song Xun blinked, not understanding.
Ji Tang really couldn’t take it anymore, and her voice was tinged with annoyance. “I’m talking to you. Get out.”
But the more she said it, the less Song Xun wanted to leave. She was puzzled, and then she quickly understood. “Wife, are you uncomfortable somewhere? Does it still hurt? Let me put some medicine on it.”
Ji Tang had a headache.
She knew Song Xun had misunderstood. Seeing her pull her towards the bed, in the end, with no other choice, she had to bite her lip and tell the truth.
“You go out first. I want to use the bathroom.”
Song Xun was taken aback for a moment, then realized. But then she mischievously raised her hand, making a gesture that was not only familiar to her but also to Ji Tang.
“Wife, aren’t you uncomfortable? I’ll hold you. Don’t worry, I’m very good at it.”
It was clearly the gesture of holding a cub to use the bathroom.
Ji Tang: “…”
She let out a long breath and pushed Song Xun out the door, not wanting to say another word to her. And since she was just joking around, Song Xun didn’t resist and was pushed out the door.
Bang—
The door closed.
Song Xun tilted her head and laughed in disbelief.
The two cubs ran over. “Mommy, is Mama awake?”
“Yes, yes, she’s awake. She’ll be out to eat in a bit.”
Song Xun picked up the two cubs, in a good mood, and walked towards the living room.
Of course, if Ji Tang hadn’t been angry and hadn’t ignored her for the next few days, it would have been even better.
Mainly, Ji Tang was afraid that if she gave her a good face, what would happen if Song Xun pushed her luck?
Ji Tang rubbed her lower back and sighed.
Life outside was still in a state of turmoil. The gunshots that could be heard from time to time had completely stopped. The military’s suppression was gone, and the outside was in complete chaos.
Food was hard to find, and even if you found some, you had to prevent it from being stolen or being killed.
The complex was also not quiet.
The new batch of neighbors was not as “well-behaved” as the previous ones. Perhaps they had experienced the tornadoes and torrential rain and had lost their initial apocalyptic innocence. Or perhaps they had never seen Song Xun and the others’ ruthless side.
In any case, they were all very good at causing trouble.
She didn’t know where they had heard that the 16th floor had food. Perhaps the original “well-behaved” neighbors had deliberately let it slip, or perhaps they had smelled the food. In these few days, the scene from the beginning of the apocalypse had started to repeat itself: people calling, banging on the door, pleading, and wailing, looking for trouble, and even using moral blackmail.
Song Xun and the others were getting tired of it.
Although they were refugees sent by the officials, if they were provoked, they were not the type to just take it. They would fight when they had to, and kill when they had to. Every day, they had to listen to these refugees, who, emboldened by their official status, acted with impunity.
In any case, Song Xun couldn’t stand it.
At first, Ji Tang had been a little worried. After all, as they said, they were people sent by the officials. If they really killed someone, would it anger the officials?
But Song Xun didn’t care about that.
So what if they were officials? Did that mean they could act with impunity? She wasn’t about to be a coward.
And besides, the officials probably couldn’t be bothered with them anymore…
She just didn’t know when there would be news about the base.
Another week passed in a flash. For people now, the concept of time had become very blurry. Although Song Xun had prepared a calendar, based on the subtle differences in the Spring Festival each year.
So even with a calendar, it wasn’t very accurate. But at least for this year, it would be accurate.
September 30th.
Song Xun decided to go out. Although it was comfortable to stay at home, the news was also undoubtedly lagging.
What was the situation outside now?
Was there any news about the establishment of the base?
She had to go out and see for herself.
