Chapter 9: Bathing. Patiently Guiding.
Not long after Jian Fan left, Cheng Yang took out a heat-proof tray.
She placed the two bowls of steamed eggs on the tray, each small bowl containing a cute ceramic spoon of a different color.
The scallions were very fresh. She had sliced them into fine pieces, which were now evenly sprinkled over the steamed eggs.
Cheng Yang carried the tray upstairs and gently pushed open the bedroom door.
Xu Xun was lying on the bed. She turned her head, and her eyes met Cheng Yang’s.
She struggled to sit up.
Cheng Yang quickly walked over, placed the two bowls of steamed eggs to the side, and carefully supported Xu Xun’s arm.
“Wifey, are you feeling better now?”
Xu Xun nodded. “Mmm, it doesn’t hurt much anymore.”
Cheng Yang’s gaze slowly fell on the back of Xu Xun’s neck. “I’ll help you sit up.”
Xu Xun gave a helpless smile. “You were supposed to be the patient, but now one patient has to take care of another.”
“How can you say that?”
The corners of Cheng Yang’s lips curled up as she placed a small bowl in front of Xu Xun. “These two bowls of steamed eggs look so good. Wifey, you’re such a great cook.”
Xu Xun lowered her eyes and smiled. “The scallions you chopped look very nice too. So neat and tidy, it looks very appetizing.”
After they exchanged a round of compliments, Cheng Yang scooped up a small spoonful of egg custard and brought it to Xu Xun’s lips. “Alright, what’s there to praise about some scallions? Hurry up and eat. I’ll feed you.”
The corners of Xu Xun’s lips curved as she ate the egg custard in small bites.
After one bite, Cheng Yang scooped up a spoonful for herself and said with a smile, “I just love eating what my wife has eaten.”
Xu Xun’s face grew warm, and she said in a low voice, “Alright, hurry up and eat. It’ll get a fishy taste if it gets cold.”
They fed each other, one bite at a time, until the bowl of egg custard was finished.
Then, Cheng Yang picked up the second bowl.
Cheng Yang found the experience of sharing a bowl of egg custard with Xu Xun very novel. Her heart felt warm and fuzzy, especially watching the way Xu Xun ate in small bites.
“Wifey, is one bowl of egg custard enough to fill you up? I’ll go pan-fry a steak for you.”
Cheng Yang placed the two empty bowls on the tray and stood up with it.
Xu Xun grabbed her wrist from behind. “Yangyang, don’t go. I’m full.”
“Wifey, you’re weak. Dr. Jian said you need to eat more meat.”
Cheng Yang lowered her head and kissed Xu Xun’s wrist, saying with a smile, “I’ve become a master at pan-frying steak these past few days. I guarantee it won’t be burnt.”
Xu Xun was still a little worried. “You’re clearly the injured one, and your body hasn’t recovered yet. Let’s just have the chef do it.”
Cheng Yang’s eyes showed a hint of disappointment. “But wifey, I heard that cooking is muscle memory. Even with amnesia, you can still make delicious dishes.”
“But I can’t cook anything. Doesn’t that mean I haven’t made you anything delicious since we got together?”
Xu Xun moved her lips. “It’s fine as long as I’m here. You don’t need to cook.”
“How can that be?”
Cheng Yang started blaming herself again. “How can I just eat ready-made food every day? I get it now. I used to be a freeloader. From now on, I’m going to learn to cook and make you all sorts of different dishes every day.”
Xu Xun opened her mouth, but Cheng Yang lowered her head and slowly kissed her.
Cheng Yang gave her Omega a soothing kiss for a while, then took a few steps back and slowly moved away.
“Wifey, don’t worry. I know my own body very well. You wait in bed. I’ll go downstairs and pan-fry a steak for you.”
A complex emotion flickered in Xu Xun’s eyes, then she looked up. “Then I want it medium-well.”
“No, it has to be well-done.”
Xu Xun couldn’t help but laugh. “Okay, I’ll listen to you.”
·
After going downstairs, Cheng Yang started bustling about in the kitchen.
In truth, she didn’t have much of an appetite; she simply wanted to make something delicious for Xu Xun.
Cheng Yang knew she wasn’t much of a cook and felt that pan-frying a steak was relatively simple compared to Chinese cuisine.
She chose a tender piece of filet mignon and didn’t marinate it beforehand.
After searing it for about two minutes on each side in a hot iron skillet to cook it through, Cheng Yang cut the steak into bite-sized pieces and sprinkled black pepper for seasoning.
Done.
The bedroom door was left ajar.
Xu Xun could smell the aroma of the steak from her room.
She put down her phone, threw back the covers, stood up, and slowly walked to the dining table in the living room.
Cheng Yang had already plated the steak.
The steak looked good; it wasn’t burnt this time.
Juicy little cherry tomatoes and tender green asparagus formed a “color palette,” and the steak had a golden-brown sear, making it look very appetizing.
Xu Xun tried her best to forget the “charcoal steak” Cheng Yang had made a few days ago.
Cheng Yang sat across from Xu Xun and, noticing the constant smile on the other’s lips, couldn’t help but ask, “Why are you smiling so much?”
Xu Xun pressed her lips together. “You’ve improved so quickly. A few days ago, it was still…”
Cheng Yang rested her chin on one hand, took out her phone, and snapped several pictures of the steak she had just made. Then she stretched out her arm, found a good angle, and took a photo of Cheng Yang holding a knife and fork, with herself making a peace sign.
Xu Xun looked at the camera, a gentle smile blooming on her lips.
She ate the tender and juicy steak. Although it was well-done, the steak melted in her mouth.
“Delicious.”
Hearing Xu Xun’s generous praise, Cheng Yang was so happy she cupped her cheeks in her hands, her eyes bright as she stared intently at the Omega eating obediently before her.
Ever since the car accident, Cheng Yang’s attention span had deteriorated. Sometimes, she would start to zone out for no reason.
Cheng Yang’s gaze froze.
Her eyes had been on Xu Xun, but after a while, they drifted away.
Until her lips touched something soft and warm.
Cheng Yang looked down and saw that Xu Xun had placed a piece of tender beef by her mouth.
Her heart suddenly softened. Cheng Yang’s nose tingled, and she opened her mouth to take the piece of beef, chewing it slowly.
Neither of them spoke.
The candles Cheng Yang had lit on the table burned brightly, illuminating their radiant faces.
After dinner, Cheng Yang put the plates aside for the auntie to clean up when she came to work the next day.
But Xu Xun came up behind her and took the plates from her hands. “I’m full and have nothing to do. I’ll wash them.”
Cheng Yang smiled. “Alright.”
The two of them had a clear division of labor. Xu Xun washed the plates and dishes, and Cheng Yang took them, dried them with a towel, and placed them in the sterilizer cabinet nearby.
After all this was done, Xu Xun stretched lazily.
Cheng Yang stared straight at her face, making Xu Xun feel a little warm.
“Why are you staring at me? Is there something on my face?”
“You’re beautiful.”
Cheng Yang was telling the truth.
Xu Xun smiled and pressed her lips together. “Then tell me, what part of me is beautiful?”
Cheng Yang continued to tell the truth. “Your eyes are beautiful, sparkling like stars. Your nose is beautiful too, straight and perky. Your mouth is beautiful too, red and soft…”
After saying this, Cheng Yang’s eyes lit up. “Beautiful and very kissable. Kissing you is sweet and tender, like eating jelly.”
Xu Xun’s face grew warm. She asked nonchalantly, “Then do you like kissing me?”
Cheng Yang answered without hesitation, “Of course.”
Xu Xun sighed. “But we’ve both had a bit of an issue, so I’m afraid there won’t be many opportunities to kiss for a while. And I have that variety show coming up…”
Cheng Yang frowned. “I’m your family. I’ll go with you.”
Xu Xun looked up, her bright eyes fixed on Cheng Yang. “Really? You’ll stay with me the whole time?”
Cheng Yang nodded solemnly. “Would I lie to you? From now on, you’ll work outside to support me, and I’ll stay home and research recipes, making all sorts of delicious food for you.”
Xu Xun pressed on, “And what else?”
Cheng Yang thought for a moment. “I’ll also warm the bed for you and serve you every day.”
“How will you serve me?”
Cheng Yang’s eyes grew even brighter. “Of course, I’ll help you through your heats. Omegas are special; they have a heat every month. I just don’t know when yours is…”
The smile on Xu Xun’s lips bloomed even more brightly. “It’s coming soon.”
Cheng Yang rubbed her temples. “I’m sorry, wifey. I even forgot when your heat is.”
Xu Xun shook her head. “It’s alright. It’s at the end of the month, still more than half a month away.”
Cheng Yang immediately grew nervous. She licked her lips, which were now glistening, and even stammered a little when she spoke.
“Th-then that’s really not far off.”
Xu Xun noticed Cheng Yang’s odd behavior and asked with a smile, “Why are you so nervous?”
Cheng Yang continued to stammer, “N-no, I’m not. I was just… just thinking, we… we…”
As she spoke, Cheng Yang covered her face tightly with her hands, the tips of her ears turning red.
Xu Xun looked up and kissed the innocent and adorable Alpha on the forehead, patiently guiding her. “What’s there to be shy about? Since you’ve forgotten how to do it, I’ll teach you when the time comes.”
The moment she finished speaking, Cheng Yang’s face turned even redder. “Wifey, don’t say anymore…”
Xu Xun observed Cheng Yang’s blushing, shy demeanor, taking in all of the Alpha’s movements and small expressions.
Her Alpha is very cute.
She is her Alpha.
She can only belong to her.
Why can’t Omegas directly mark Alphas?
The gland on the back of her neck was hot and painful. Xu Xun only regretted not having finished it all in one go earlier.
It wouldn’t matter even if the pain left her unable to get out of bed, as long as she achieved her goal.
But…
Xu Xun cupped Cheng Yang’s pale pink cheeks and curved her lips. “Yangyang, let’s take a bath and go to sleep.”
Cheng Yang nodded and was led upstairs by Xu Xun.
She had already taken a bath, but she was still looking forward to being with Xu Xun, the two of them hugging and soaking in the bathtub.
But Jian Fan had warned that Xu Xun’s nape couldn’t get wet and that she could only take a bath after it had healed.
And she still had an injury on her head, which was even more of a taboo.
Cheng Yang’s steps were a bit unsteady.
She pressed her lips together, her breathing a little ragged. Afraid that Xu Xun would hear her abnormal breathing, she had to close her mouth and take small breaths through her nose.
Her pounding heart betrayed her current state.
Cheng Yang was led into the bathroom by Xu Xun. Afraid that she would lose control and let her feelings run wild, she had to say in a small voice, “Wifey, maybe I should…”
Before she could finish, Xu Xun unbuttoned her top right in front of her, revealing her snow-white, rounded shoulders.
Cheng Yang’s breath caught, and she subconsciously wanted to turn her head away.
Xu Xun’s soft arms wrapped around her neck, pressing her body into her embrace.
Their soft bodies pressed against each other. Cheng Yang’s scalp tingled, and she felt like she was about to explode.
She swallowed, and a ringing sound roared in her ears.
She heard the Omega’s ambiguous, husky voice.
Patiently guiding.
“Yangyang, help me take off my clothes.”
Hmm
