Panda Cub, So Cute and Fierce 5

Chapter 5: Bad Student

======================

“Okay,” He Jingsu said, a little confused. But seeing her get up and walk out, she quickly hopped off the table and followed, asking cheerfully, “What do you want to eat later?”

Bei Queting, walking half a step ahead, slowed her pace upon hearing her normal tone. “Let’s see if the cafeteria still has any bamboo shoots. If they do, we’ll have that.”

The panda cub beside her was an expert when it came to eating bamboo shoots.

“Mhm, mhm!” He Jingsu nodded eagerly and followed her to the cafeteria. Since they were late, there weren’t many people left. The two of them walked up to the service window and looked at the dishes inside. After making a full circle, He Jingsu’s eyebrows drooped slightly.

“Beibei, there are no bamboo shoots left.”

Her voice was full of disappointment, and it made Bei Queting’s heart clench. She led He Jingsu to get other dishes, comforting her softly, “We won’t eat them today then. How about we wait until tomorrow when we go home and eat the ones Aunt He makes?”

“Okay,” she replied, still looking a little down.

Bei Queting chuckled to herself. Making a panda cub miss a meal of bamboo shoots felt like a terrible crime.

After they finished eating and went back, Bei Queting walked He Jingsu to her dorm room door before heading upstairs to her own.

When He Jingsu entered her room, she saw Qiu Si on a video call on her phone.

“Daidai, come here quick, Jiu Jiu misses you!” Qiu Si waved He Jingsu over.

He Jingsu leaned in next to Qiu Si and saw Jing Jiu on the screen. She earnestly called out, “Little-little Aunt.”

“Big sister, is high school fun?” Eleven-year-old Jing Jiu asked, her innocent eyes looking at her two older sisters on the screen. She was starting to look forward to high school life; she wanted to go to the same school as her sisters!

Jing Jiu was Qiu Si’s biological sister. Qiu Si was born to Qiu Shuhuai, hence the surname Qiu, while Jing Jiu was born to Jing Shiyue, hence the surname Jing. Although they had different surnames, it didn’t affect their relationship in the slightest.

“It’s not fun. You get put in different classes!” He Jingsu said seriously, clearly still hung up about being separated from Bei Queting.

“Huh?” Jing Jiu blinked.

“Daidai, don’t discourage your little sister!” Qiu Si quickly reminded her.

“Oh!” He Jingsu realized her mistake and quickly tried to fix it. “High school is very fun! There are more activities than in middle school!”

“Oh.” Jing Jiu blinked again, her young face filled with suspicion toward her two sisters.

Qiu Si cleared her throat and pushed He Jingsu away.

He Jingsu pouted as she was pushed away and went into the bathroom to shower first. They still had evening self-study later.

When she came out of the shower, she heard Qiu Si say, “Little Ting came by just now. She saw you weren’t ready and told me to tell you that she’s heading to the academic building first. She plans to discuss the event for next week with the student council members before self-study starts.”

He Jingsu, who had been drying her hair, lost the mood to continue. She simply waved her hand, using her spiritual energy to dry her hair instantly, and said, “Oh,” without another word.

She began to wonder if she should join the student council. That way, she could probably spend more time with Beibei, right?

However, that idea was later shot down by Bei Queting. She rubbed He Jingsu’s soft little face and said with a low laugh, “Even without joining the student council, you’re already the one who spends the most time with me.”

He Jingsu’s personality really wasn’t suited for the student council. After all, it wouldn’t look good for a council member to be personally involved in fights. Given her track record, the president wouldn’t feel comfortable letting her join.

He Jingsu lowered her head, looking sullen. She just wanted to spend more time with Beibei!

“Besides, when I’m in meetings with the student council, aren’t you already there waiting for me?” Bei Queting comforted her. Just like last year, when she had just joined the student council and had frequent meetings, He Jingsu would sit nearby with her sketchbook, drawing while she waited.

“But I couldn’t talk to you then,” He Jingsu mumbled.

Bei Queting chuckled and squeezed her cheeks a little harder, looking into her innocent eyes. “Even if you joined, we wouldn’t be able to chat freely during meetings,” she said helplessly.

“Oh.” He Jingsu was reluctant but was eventually persuaded by Bei Queting.

After evening self-study, once the lights were out and the dorm supervisor had done her rounds, He Jingsu teleported directly onto Bei Queting’s bed. Seeing that Bei Queting wasn’t in bed yet, she pulled back the covers, slipped inside, and waited for her.

When Bei Queting climbed up the ladder to her bed, she saw the little panda head already resting on her pillow, two small black ears standing out against the soft white pillowcase.

She paused, a small smile on her face. After climbing into bed and drawing the curtain, she casually set up a barrier to block any sound from reaching Xia Mu. “You got here fast,” she said to He Jingsu.

It hadn’t even been ten minutes since lights out.

He Jingsu innocently climbed off her pillow and onto Bei Queting’s lap, waiting to be held.

Bei Queting held her as she lay down in the covers. A moment later, she too transformed into her true form, rolling like a little dumpling into He Jingsu’s arms, letting her hold her as she slept.

Cradling the little fluffy bird in her arms, He Jingsu cherished her, protecting her with both paws. The tuft of fur on her head twitched, full of energy, with no sign of sleepiness at all.

“Can’t sleep?” Bei Queting asked softly.

“Mhm, mhm!” He Jingsu nodded her panda head. She was either wide awake or dead asleep, always at one extreme or the other.

Seeing that she really wasn’t sleepy, Bei Queting lifted her head from her arms. “Want to go out and play for a bit?”

This was probably one of the perks of being a demon. When you wanted to go out, a single teleport was all it took.

He Jingsu’s eyes lit up, and she nodded eagerly!

Bei Queting teleported them out of the school to a secluded spot. She was now perched on He Jingsu’s head as He Jingsu spread her small wings and flew.

They had arrived at a small bamboo forest on the outskirts of the city. According to Aunt He, this was where she had met Aunt Jing.

He Jingsu flew with Bei Queting over the bamboo forest. Unfortunately, it was September, so there were no fresh, tender spring or winter bamboo shoots. He Jingsu gave up on the idea of digging for a snack.

If they weren’t tender, they weren’t tasty!

Bei Queting nestled on He Jingsu’s head, her gaze fixed on the high moon, the cool night breeze, and the swaying bamboo. All of it felt so different because He Jingsu was with her. Every bit of scenery brought a sense of comfort to her heart. She couldn’t help but squint and let out a sleepy yawn.

He Jingsu flew above the bamboo forest, her two small wings, disproportionate to her body, flapping vigorously. She looked like a beginner who had to flap desperately just to stay airborne, which was rather comical.

Because of this, Jing Dan still didn’t dare let her fly her around, afraid that her own weight would be too much for her to lift. Even if she did get off the ground, she worried that the little wings would give out mid-flight, and the two of them would fall to their deaths, which would be quite tragic.

They would probably be the first demons to die from falling out of the sky.

How embarrassing for demonkind!

He Ying, who was also baffled by He Jingsu’s flying, couldn’t find a solution. Even her own mother, Madam He Yuan, always had a complicated expression whenever she saw He Jingsu fly.

To this day, the only one brave enough to let He Jingsu fly her around was Bei Queting, a little fluffy bird who could fly on her own.

“Beibei, the moon isn’t round today!” He Jingsu said, looking up at the crescent moon. But its soft glow cast a hazy beauty over everything she could see.

“It’s not the middle of the month yet,” Bei Queting said softly. She gazed quietly at the moon. It wasn’t glaring like the sun; it was gentle, something you could look at directly. But for many years, she hadn’t dared to look at the moon.

“We’ll have a holiday when it’s the middle of the month!” He Jingsu said happily. The middle of the month was around the time of the human Mid-Autumn Festival. They would have a break then, and she could take Bei Queting out to play!

“Mhm,” Bei Queting hummed in response.

“Beibei, are you sleepy?” He Jingsu asked, as if sensing something.

“A little,” Bei Queting said, lowering her head to nuzzle the panda’s head. The tuft of fur brushed against her face, a light, ticklish sensation. Bei Queting buried her head deeper into the panda’s fur with a sense of longing.

“Then let’s go back to sleep!” As He Jingsu flew, she vanished from mid-air. When she reappeared, the two little ones were already back in Bei Queting’s bed. He Jingsu placed the little fluffy bird in her arms, held her, and whispered, “Good night.”

“Good night, Daidai,” Bei Queting murmured.

The scenery just now had been too beautiful, so beautiful that it brought her a sense of peace, yet at the same time, a touch of sadness. She always felt that being so sentimental was not a good thing, but in that moment, she couldn’t help but feel sad.

The two little ones fell asleep just like that. Down below in the bamboo forest they had just flown over, Jing Dan looked up, a little puzzled. “I feel like something was flying up there just now.”

That aura, that frequency of flapping wings… why did it seem so much like her own little cub?

He Ying held the panda cub in her arms, a small shovel in her hand for digging up the few tender bamboo shoots in the ground. “There was something flying up there,” she said with a low laugh.

“It was a little flying panda with a fluffy bird on its head.”

Hearing this, Jing Dan, who had been mostly focused on He Ying’s digging, was now certain it had been their cub. The tuft of fur on her head twitched, and she huffed, “Dock her one bottle of milk! How dare she sneak out of school at night!”

That was not the behavior of a good student!

“Are you docking her milk because you want to drink it yourself?”

“Mhm, mhm!” The panda cub in her arms nodded eagerly.

He Ying chuckled and held a peeled, tender bamboo shoot to her lips.

Daidai, sleeping soundly with the little fluffy bird in her arms, had no idea that her mommy had just confiscated a bottle of her milk. She just comfortably rolled over, holding the little bird, and let out a tiny snore.

He Jingsu watched the people fawning over the little fluffy bird and felt an instinctual displeasure.

The little fluffy bird was clearly hers. What right did they have to covet her little bird?

She could treat the little bird better than any of them!

As a Northern Long-tailed Tit, Bei Queting was supposed to huddle with other tits for warmth, but she was ostracized. She learned to be cautious from a young age. After being driven out of her flock’s territory, she met a very cute girl.

The girl’s true form was a panda cub with a pair of wings. She was incredibly good to her, letting her run wild.

And she meant that literally—running wild on top of her head.

As Bei Queting nestled on the panda’s head, she thought, I want to be with He Jingsu forever.

Coincidentally, that was exactly what He Jingsu was thinking, too.

A naturally dazed, doting panda with a strong desire to pamper her wife (Gong/Top) x A little fluffy bird who is soft on the outside, strong on the inside, and incredibly possessive (Shou/Bottom).

A sweet, heartwarming story about the daily lives of childhood sweethearts.
