Chapter 53: Demon King Bai Ze
Mingyan looked at Feng Shiyi, silent for a moment, then said, “You can’t follow me forever. I have many things to do. It’s dangerous for you to be by my side.”
Feng Shiyi pouted, on the verge of tears, extremely reluctant, but in the end, she didn’t say anything.
Huang Feiyan, who was watching from the side, couldn’t bear it. Mingyan’s heart was indeed very hard sometimes; he could even refuse Feng Shiyi.
Feng Shiyi was a woman who was very good at making people’s hearts soften. She didn’t need to speak; just a subtle change in her expression could make one’s heart soften. Even she, a woman, felt this way. As a man, he could actually refuse.
Jade Peony said softly, “I know Young Master Ming has many doubts about Miss Feng Shiyi. After you meet my master, I believe she will answer them for you.”
Mingyan nodded and didn’t look back at Feng Shiyi. He was afraid he would soften.
Taking Feng Shiyi with him meant he would be subject to all kinds of restrictions, which was extremely inconvenient. He really had many things to do now, so he couldn’t take her.
Compared to Feng Shiyi, improving his own strength, saving his sister, gaining the approval of the Demon Clan, and obtaining the crystal on the sacred mountain were the most important things for him.
He had to be ruthless. Besides, he and Feng Shiyi had no ties yet. He had to make a clean break and couldn’t hesitate any longer.
Feng Shiyi clutched the corner of his robe tightly, following behind him with a wronged expression, tears streaming down her face. She was extremely aggrieved.
Huang Feiyan could only turn a blind eye. After all, he had already made up his mind, and she couldn’t change it.
The four of them walked in silence, accompanied by Feng Shiyi’s sobs, until they reached a towering tree.
The trunk was extremely thick, probably four or five zhang wide.
It wasn’t until he took a step forward that the tree appeared before him. Before, there had been no tree here. A law had hidden it.
Jade Peony placed her hand on the tree, and a faint cherry-red spiritual energy was released and absorbed by the tree.
Soon, the tree flashed slightly, and a door appeared. She pushed it open and made a gesture of invitation, motioning for him to enter.
He took Feng Shiyi and walked into the tree trunk. He felt a dizzying sensation, and when he came back to his senses, he was already on a snow-capped mountain.
Feng Shiyi held onto the corner of his robe tightly and did not let go. Soon, Huang Feiyan and Jade Peony also appeared out of thin air.
“This is the foot of the sacred mountain, Li Jing,” Jade Peony explained, walking to the front. “Don’t be fooled by the fact that it didn’t seem far from where we were. That’s just because the sacred mountain is too huge, so you can’t accurately judge the distance between the two places. If we wanted to walk here with our cultivation, it would take at least two or three days.”
Is it that far? Mingyan was a little surprised. It had seemed to be just at the foot of the mountain before.
Jade Peony led the three of them forward. There was a small path leading up the snowy mountain. “This is the outer area of Li Jing Mountain. My master lives here, with only a few maids by her side.”
The scenery at the outer edge of the sacred mountain was beautiful, just a little cold. Feng Shiyi couldn’t help but move closer to Mingyan.
Jade Peony didn’t say much, leading the three of them up the path until a simple palace appeared before them. It was located near the snow-capped mountain, with a stream flowing down from the mountain beside it. It was probably the melted snow from the mountain, flowing down and who knows where along the foot of the mountain.
Mingyan felt someone watching him in the dark. He raised an eyebrow, knowing it was likely Bai Ze observing him. He looked at the palace and felt a powerful aura.
Jade Peony stopped, turned to look at Huang Feiyan and Feng Shiyi, then her gaze shifted to Mingyan. “My master wants to see Mingyan alone. Celestial Huang, and Miss Feng, please follow me.”
Feng Shiyi looked at Mingyan’s back. Seeing he had no intention of turning around, she could only whimper and let go of his hand. Huang Feiyan asked him for his thoughts via a mental message. After getting his reply, she nodded to Jade Peony and followed her along another path to the side.
Only Mingyan was left. He didn’t hesitate and walked towards the palace.
He walked quickly to the outside of the palace and saw several maids chatting. Seeing him, they were a little surprised, then a faint blush appeared on their faces, and they shyly hid.
These should also be demons. But they don’t seem to have seen a man before, getting shy so easily.
Mingyan looked away, walked to the main entrance, hesitated for a moment, then pushed the doors open with both hands.
Behind the door was a magnificently decorated palace, but there was no one in sight. He walked in and saw a few maids resting there. Seeing him, they hid like the maids outside.
He stood in the main hall and waited for a while. Suddenly, a woman’s voice came from deeper inside. It was a little muffled, but he could still hear it clearly.
“Come in.”
Is that the Demon King Bai Ze?
Mingyan walked further inside. Behind the main hall was another hall, and at the top of the hall, a woman was leaning lazily, a faint smile on her face. “You’ve finally come.”
She did not hide her figure or her features, just displayed them in front of him. She wore a simple and elegant white dress, with something sparkling on it, like the stars in the night sky, quite dazzling, very beautiful.
Her features were also extremely regular, appearing very elegant, with a strong sense of maturity. A single frown or smile could captivate one’s soul.
But who was Mingyan? He had seen the true face of his master, his sister, and even Great Empress Qingzi. He wouldn’t be so easily swayed.
“Junior pays his respects to Demon King Bai Ze,” he bowed his head and said softly.
“No need for formalities,” the Demon King’s smile was cool. “I have met your master once before. At that time, I lamented that your master is a heavenly goddess. If she were not born in this era, she might truly have been able to recreate the splendor of Great Empress Yue Ying. Her disciple is also a talented and powerful individual. I did not misjudge.”
Mingyan bowed his head and did not speak.
“I know you have many questions. For example, why Feng Shiyi is by your side… and what exactly is her identity…” The Demon King slowly rose, walked down the steps, and came to stand in front of him. “Before I answer your questions, I need to say a few things.”
“From the moment you were born, I knew of your existence. You were born in Sun Moon Village and were adopted by the village chief, Ming Zhong,” Demon King Bai Ze said. “If I told you that I watched you grow up, what would you think?”
Mingyan frowned and looked at Demon King Bai Ze, not knowing what she meant by that.
