Lin Xu’s senses were sharp, especially for Shu Qingyou. She suddenly looked up. Shu Qingyou whipped her head away and grabbed a book at random.
“Baby, what book are you reading so intently? Come here—I’ll show you something better.”
Lin Xu abandoned the computer, flashed an innocent smile, and beckoned.
The command brooked no argument. Shu Qingyou hesitated a second.
After a few steps, Lin Xu leaned forward, hooked her slender waist, and yanked her into her lap.
Shu Qingyou stumbled, nearly crushing Lin Xu’s injured arm. Instinctively concerned, she said, “Be careful, or it’ll bleed again. I won’t bandage it.”
“Then let me bleed to death.” Lin Xu shamelessly nuzzled her chin. “Yesterday wasn’t enough fun. Let’s continue today.”
After one night, Shu Qingyou’s waist ached, back hurt, legs cramped. More?
She’d lost count of the rounds.
Shu Qingyou never imagined she’d one day want to flee to the ends of the earth from Lin Xu’s vigor.
She quickly changed the subject. “Weren’t you going to show me something good?”
“You still remember.” Lin Xu drawled, unbuttoning her shirt to reveal lacy underwear.
“Feels like… I’ve seen it somewhere?”
Shu Qingyou pondered intently, unconsciously licking her lips.
Seeing her riveted stare, Lin Xu swelled with pride at her figure.
This omega’s hungry for sure.
“You definitely have. Think harder?”
Shu Qingyou floundered, unsure what to do next.
Who knew this was the “good” thing…
Lin Xu grinned wickedly. “Baby, knew you’d like it. I bought a whole set online before.”
She fumbled by feel, then raised a shiny silver pen right under Shu Qingyou’s eyelids. “Look at me!”
Shu Qingyou looked puzzled. “I don’t understand…”
“It’s just… sigh, you’re so forgetful.”
Lin Xu was full of mischievous ideas. Shu Qingyou’s head throbbed as she said, “Stop beating around the bush.”
Lin Xu blushed shyly. “You promised me before… this…?”
Shu Qingyou: ……
How ridiculous. It scared her so much that she ended up laughing instead.
“Fine, but I want to discuss something with you. I’m afraid you might not agree.”
Lin Xu’s tone suddenly rose sharply. Were they wives discussing important matters now?
Without thinking, she agreed enthusiastically. “I agree, I agree! Baby, you’re really treating me like family.”
She excitedly kissed Shu Qingyou, and the kiss quickly spiraled out of control. Shu Qingyou’s lips ended up swollen from the friction, and Lin Xu reluctantly gave them one last nibble.
Under the intense assault, Shu Qingyou went limp against Lin Xu’s shoulder, panting softly. It took her a while to recover.
“I’m thinking about the apartment we used to live in. This place is a bit small, and it’s not convenient for your daily work and life.”
Lin Xu, single-minded and still riding high on her emotions, hesitated deeply. “Really? You want to go back there? But the me from back then…”
“I’m afraid it’ll bring back painful memories.”
Shu Qingyou leaned dependently on Lin Xu’s shoulder, rubbing against the skin near her neck, the sound of their shirts rustling softly.
She coquettishly released a hint of pheromones. “It’s okay. We also have to think about Rongrong. She’s about to start kindergarten, don’t you think?”
A young, vigorous Alpha couldn’t possibly resist such temptation. A surprise gift package delivered right to her doorstep—Lin Xu was overjoyed. “Yes, yes, yes! Baby, you say east and I won’t go west. When do we move?”
“You decide.”
“There’s no time like the present. Let’s pack up and move in tonight!”
It was too fast. Shu Qingyou tacitly agreed with a heavy silence; any objections would fall on deaf ears. Lin Xu handled the packing single-handedly with practiced ease, as if she’d done it countless times.
Watching Lin Xu neatly organize the luggage, Shu Qingyou offered symbolic praise. “You’re pretty good at sorting things out. I used to do it all for you.”
Lin Xu brushed it off with a casual wave, kneeling on the ground. She dutifully wrapped her underwear in a plain cloth before placing it in the suitcase, keeping it from touching the other clothes.
“Because my wife and mom are gone, I have to learn to be independent.”
Why did that sound so off? Shu Qingyou analyzed the connection between herself and Lin Xu’s mother—aside from both being women, she found no other common ground.
“How dependent were you before?”
Lin Xu listed them one by one. Servants handled all the household chores, while she just enjoyed the perks. She only developed independence after moving out.
“After that, unless it was a special situation, I wouldn’t let anyone enter my private space—not even servants. I had to do everything myself. But when I couldn’t manage, my mother would help. Then, as you know, she was gone.”
At this point, Lin Xu choked up, her head hanging low, eyes hot and misty. She wiped away her tears with the back of her hand.
Shu Qingyou’s heart softened. Ever since becoming a mother, she couldn’t bear to see children without moms—it was like spotting a stray weed by the roadside. She squatted down and patted Lin Xu’s back.
Her soft palm rested on Lin Xu’s back. Lin Xu sniffled a few times, wanting to bury herself in Shu Qingyou’s chest and sob, but decided against it to avoid ruining the good mood of moving day.
“So, will you be my mommy, baby?”
Shu Qingyou was speechless. “You can’t have me be both your mommy and call me baby.”
It made sense—the two roles together carried a heavy sense of taboo. But a desire stirred in her heart. She wiped away the remaining tears and had a sudden idea.
“We can play like that in bed, like cosplay.”
Shu Qingyou froze in place. Say what you will—her good intentions were always squandered like this.
But with the tear tracks still on Lin Xu’s face reminding her of this little Alpha’s fragility, Shu Qingyou sighed softly. “Whatever you say.”
Lin Xu made moving house into a massive production. Ten luxury vans soon pulled up to the door, creating a spectacle more grandiose than a demolition crew.
From one end of the village to the other, households and even the chickens, ducks, dogs, and geese were stunned. The livestock scattered in a frenzy of feathers and fur.
Accompanied by the black-clad men’s shouts of “Young Miss” echoing through the sky, Shu Rong was so startled that she whimpered, squeezing her eyes shut and clinging tightly to her mother.
In mere minutes, all the important items in the house were ransacked clean.
Even Shu Qingyou’s tough heart couldn’t withstand Lin Xu’s high-profile fanfare, announcing to the world that she’d hooked a golden wife.
The group arrived with a rumble to help with the move, then departed just as ostentatiously back to the upscale residential area. Shu Qingyou remained speechless throughout.
At eight in the evening, under the thick night sky, the neon lights of the city’s high-rises flashed by like a slideshow outside the car window.
The multicolored glow spilled onto half of Shu Qingyou’s impassive face, lending it an unexpected softness.
Lin Xu spent the whole ride admiring her smooth jawline and elegant nose bridge—a high-visual assault. She smugly thought Shu Qingyou was just being reserved, too shy to meet her eyes.
A few more spectacles like this, and she’d get used to it.
The crescent moon hid behind inky clouds. Back home, another wave of commotion ensued.
Half an hour later, the dust settled. Lin Xu held the child while Shu Qingyou crossed her arms and asked, “Did you do this on purpose? Had to make it known to everyone.”
Lin Xu didn’t get it, scratching her head. “Don’t you like it? Dominant CEO, loving fiercely.”
Shu Qingyou’s head pounded from her antics; her eyelid twitched several times. One day, they might both end up on Wanping South Road.
She needed water to calm down. In the familiar kitchen, she filled a glass of water to steady her nerves. “What kind of AO CEO novels do you read all day?”
Lin Xu wagged her index finger. “Wrong. There’s also OO CEO, AA CEO, AB CEO, and so on… no fixed pairings. Gu Huaiyuan recommended them to me.”
Shu Qingyou snorted coldly. “You two really are besties.”
“Not quite, more like fair-weather friends.” Lin Xu was quite pleased with herself. “I have plenty of drinking buddies. I’m just a bit closer to her. Don’t worry, I love you the most. You’re the only one in my heart.”
So shameless. At first, Shu Qingyou had been swayed by her sweet talk, but Lin Xu’s words and actions didn’t match, creating a jarring disconnect.
“I get it. The way you express love is all copied from the internet, not sincere.”
Lin Xu stopped grinning. She shooed Shu Rong away to play with her pets alone.
Then, she switched to a fawning expression, pouncing into Shu Qingyou’s chest and anxiously explaining, “Shu-jie, baby, you misunderstood me. I’m afraid I’m no good with words, so I learned lines from novels and went astray.”
“When we first got together, I did so many wrong things and bullied you terribly. Now I’m making up for it, aren’t I?”
Shu Qingyou blocked her with an arm. “Talk properly. Stop groping around—you’re worse than an animal in heat every day.”
Back in familiar territory, Lin Xu felt completely at ease. She nodded and busied herself activating the smart home devices, starting several robot vacuums at once.
After washing up and preparing to sleep with her daughter, just before lights out, Lin Xu scampered into her room with a pillow.
Shu Qingyou was on guard. “What are you doing?”
Without a word, Lin Xu lifted the corner of the blanket and slipped right in, her eyes sparkling like stars. “Our family of three sleeping together.”
Lin Xu was unusually well-behaved for once, so Shu Qingyou agreed and coaxed Shu Rong to sleep first.
She thought she’d dodged a bullet, but Lin Xu suddenly rolled over, pinning her down. At 175 cm and around 120 jin, Lin Xu nearly crushed Shu Qingyou into spitting blood.
With the child nearby, Shu Qingyou had a bad premonition. She lowered her voice. “Rongrong just fell asleep. Don’t wake her.”
Lin Xu glanced at their soundly sleeping daughter, then turned back and planted a kiss on Shu Qingyou’s lips. “You smell so good. We’ll be quiet then.”
Shu Qingyou: “???”
She panicked, clamping her lips shut and shoving Lin Xu’s advances away, her chest heaving. “Wait, wait, you bastard, no, not here.”
So fragile. Lin Xu teased her. “Just kidding, silly. But don’t forget, you promised me… with the pen…”
Under Lin Xu’s pressure, Shu Qingyou had no choice but to relent, on the condition that the child didn’t see.
She really wasn’t as shameless as Lin Xu.
Just endure a little longer. Shu Qingyou planned that once someone bought the house, she’d sell it quick. Who knew how outrageous Lin Xu might get if this dragged on.
