Chapter 106: Milk Tea
The steel tracks, like a giant dragon, soared straight into the clouds, then plummeted down with immense force. The piercing screams in his ears were deafening. His thin body was pressed down by gravity, unable to lift his head, as if he and the car had turned into a meteorite of ten thousand tons, streaking across the sky and crashing towards the ground.
“Woohoo! Awesome!”
Lin Siyi was the first to unbuckle her seatbelt and jump down. Her face was flushed with excitement. She pulled Zhang Heng, whose face was a little pale, out of the car and clamored to go again.
“Su Yu… I’m dizzy.”
Su Yu let out a breath. He had just lowered his head to unbuckle his seatbelt when a weak whimper sounded in his ear. He looked sideways and saw the girl’s face was terrifyingly pale. She was squinting, her voice weak, as fragile as a reed that would break with a single snap.
The feeling of plunging from a high place in his mind suddenly dissipated, and he sobered up a lot. Forgetting to unbuckle his own seatbelt, he first unbuckled the one that was restraining Xia Qian Ge’s chest. He gently stroked her slender and soft waist and asked in a low voice if she wanted to throw up.
Xia Qian Ge pursed her lips and shook her head with a faint smile, but her whole body seemed to have lost its strength and fell into his arms.
Su Yu immediately supported Xia Qian Ge’s body and quickly unbuckled his seatbelt. The girl’s soft, dark hair brushed against his neck, a tickling sensation. He smelled the increasingly strong fragrance of gardenias at the tip of his nose and helped Xia Qian Ge out of the car. The girl’s body was as light as a floating leaf, her fragile appearance heartbreaking.
After she stood firm, Xia Qian Ge’s condition improved a lot. She shook her head to indicate that she was fine, broke free from Su Yu’s arms, and leaned on the railing to slowly adjust to her unbalanced body.
“Are you feeling better?” Su Yu asked cautiously, his tone a little unnatural because of the recent intimacy.
“Yeah, I’m probably not suited for such exciting rides.”
Xia Qian Ge smiled with a pale face and shook her head to indicate that she was fine. She said with some self-blame, “I might have to rest for a while. You guys can go ahead and play. I’m sorry for holding you all up.”
“What’s wrong? Qian Ge… are you not feeling well?”
Lin Siyi, who had been fooling around with Zhang Heng for a while, suddenly noticed that Su Yu and the others hadn’t followed. She turned back and saw Xia Qian Ge’s pale face and became flustered. “I’m sorry, Qian Ge. I shouldn’t have insisted on you playing.”
“It’s okay. I’ll be fine after a little rest.”
Lin Siyi stomped her foot anxiously, wanting to help Xia Qian Ge down to rest. “Then… I’ll stay and accompany you.”
“I’ll do it.” Su Yu stood in front of Lin Siyi. He was really afraid that she would cause an accident in her haste. He smiled. “You and Zhang Heng can go play. When Qian Ge is rested, we’ll go find you.”
“Are you sure?” Lin Siyi was still a little worried, biting her lip and reluctant to leave.
“Don’t worry, she’ll be fine with Su Yu.” Zhang Heng came over and took Lin Siyi’s hand to comfort her. He looked up and winked at Su Yu, then pulled Lin Siyi away. “Call me or Siyi if anything happens.”
“Okay, you guys have fun.” Su Yu nodded and then helped Xia Qian Ge down the stairs.
“Thank you.” Xia Qian Ge said thank you softly, her voice still weak. As she spoke, her body leaned against Su Yu’s chest, as if she were about to lose all her strength and cling to the boy’s body.
Her black hair fell down from her white earlobes, covering half her face. A spark of excitement shone in her dark pupils. The girl had completely lost the weak appearance of being unable to stand.
She could even hear the increasingly rapid thumping of the boy’s heart, as if it were overlapping with her own gradually accelerating heartbeat. The heart pounded, and the warm blood slowly began to warm her body. She tried her best to endure the uncontrollable physiological reaction, clenching her legs together and leaning against the boy in an extremely awkward way.
She felt as if she were really going to get sick. She tried her best to suppress the hot panting, but she felt more and more as if she were on the verge of a volcanic eruption, her flesh and blood about to be turned to ashes by the scorching lava, scattered in the wind.
Su Yu carefully placed Xia Qian Ge under the awning of the rest area. His hand passed through her smooth hair, tidying the messy strands. The girl leaned against the edge of the table, her eyes lowered, her breathing as faint as if it were about to be extinguished.
From his angle, the girl’s eyes were completely hidden by her long eyelashes. He could only see a trace of crimson at the corners of her eyes, a mark that seemed like a masterstroke on a painting, like a bouquet of velvet flowers blooming in the dark of night, exuding an ambiguous and intoxicating fragrance. The psychedelic scent made him feel as if he had lost consciousness, lost in the midnight darkness.
“Su Yu? You… what’s wrong?”
The girl’s call slowly brought Su Yu’s reason back. He lowered his gaze and met the girl’s upturned eyes. His face was reflected in her clear, black and white pupils.
In the girl’s pupils, Su Yu seemed to see a clean and pure spring gurgling out, creating a gentle ripple in his heart.
“S-Sorry, I was just spacing out…”
A faint blush appeared on Su Yu’s fair cheeks from shyness. He looked away uncomfortably, as if he had lost the courage to look at her directly. His palms were sweaty, and an indescribable heat welled up in his heart. His throat, which was bobbing up and down, became dry. If a cup of boiling water were placed in front of him, he felt he would drink it without hesitation.
“You…”
Xia Qian Ge tilted her head and followed Su Yu’s retreating gaze. Her clear, black and white eyes were clean and bright, looking at him innocently. Her voice was very light, with a hint of confusion, but to the boy, it was as sharp as a blade pressed against his chest.
“Why are you staring into my eyes?”
Su Yu’s mind seemed to explode, his thoughts short-circuiting. He had no idea how to answer such a simple question. He stammered for a long time but couldn’t come up with anything. He unconsciously licked his lips, which were covered in dry, chapped skin.
“Haha…”
Xia Qian Ge suddenly laughed, the sound as crisp and pleasant as a spring gurgling. She looked at the boy’s flustered appearance, her heart about to explode with excitement. She wanted to grab his wrist, to touch his smooth, delicate skin with a hint of teasing, and then whisper in his ear, “Do you… like me?”
Xia Qian Ge took out a tissue and wiped the sweat from Su Yu’s forehead, her touch as gentle as a caress. The smile on her lips was as bright as the first ray of spring sunshine. “I was just wondering if there was something on my face since you were staring at me. What are you so nervous about?”
“Oh, I thought you were mad at me for holding you. That really scared me.”
Su Yu let out a breath of relief, as if he had been pardoned. He smiled and made a rather clumsy excuse, trying to change the subject. “Should I go buy us something to drink? I’m a bit thirsty. What do you want?”
“Hmm… let me think.”
Xia Qian Ge’s pearly fingers rested on the corner of her crimson lips, her delicate eyebrows furrowed in thought. The fleeting charm tugged at the boy’s heartstrings, almost making his heart stop again.
She thought for a moment, then blinked her eyes playfully. “Milk tea. I’m suddenly craving something sweet.”
“Okay, I’ll go buy it right away. Wait for me for a bit.”
Su Yu swallowed and left the rest area as if fleeing, searching for a milk tea shop he didn’t know the location of.
Xia Qian Ge watched as the boy’s figure slowly disappeared, her pink tongue licking her lips, her eyes filled with an insatiable desire.
