Chapter 125: Off Work
“Hello, can I help you?”
“I’m looking for someone.”
“Do you have a pass?”
“Yes. I’m looking for Xia Qiange from the law firm upstairs.”
Su Yu was dressed appropriately, his back straight. He smiled and took out a newly issued pass. The security guard glanced at it and did not refuse him as he had the first time. He quickly let him in and even pointed out the elevator floor for the law firm.
He took the elevator to almost the top floor. The metal door, which reflected his slender figure, slowly popped open. He walked out of the elevator, identified the direction a little, and then walked along the wall with his eyelashes lowered.
His heart was immersed in a sweet syrup and could not extricate itself. He couldn’t help but wonder, what was Qian Ge doing at this time? It was so fast. They were actually about to get married in the blink of an eye. It was all like a dream.
The patheticness of that night had completely broken the barrier between them. Su Yu had originally thought that their close relationship could actually become more and more intimate. He would always see her back when he turned his head in the small house. Their gazes would meet, and he could feel a love growing out of nowhere. They seemed to have found the happiness they had had when they had just gotten together.
Xia Qiange had become more proactive, and her work was gradually coming to an end. There was more time for the two of them to be alone.
And her explanation was that she was too insecure and was afraid that he would leave. This sentence really made him feel extremely heartbroken and self-blaming. He reflected on his own cowardice. He couldn’t satisfy anything else. If even his feelings were a debt, then he was so guilty that he had nowhere to hide.
He was both guilty and afraid. Just as she had said, he only had her.
Su Yu walked towards the deep part of the corridor in some strange gazes that were looking at him. He passed a corner, and the office that Qian Ge had told him about was on his left. He had just turned around when a stack of documents suddenly rushed into his vision, blocking the face behind it.
“Be careful.”
He supported the person with his hand and forced her to stop to avoid bumping into her. The person shook her head and tilted her head from behind the documents. It was a girl with a watermelon-head hairstyle, and she was wearing a pair of thick, round-framed glasses. She was a little familiar.
Before he could remember, the other party had spoken first. “Hey? Are you… Qian Ge’s boyfriend?”
The girl’s not-so-suppressed voice had attracted the gazes of the passersby. Xia Qiange’s boyfriend? Those gazes were mixed with a chaotic emotion, curiosity or surprise, envy or jealousy. They swept over his back, and they were sizing him up.
“Yes. Um… is Qian Ge here?”, Su Yu pursed his lips and smiled. He asked in a low voice.
“Yes, yes. She’s in the office, packing her things.”
The girl nodded repeatedly and made way with the documents in her arms. She raised her chin and roughly pointed in a direction for him. “The third office from the end is hers.”
“Okay, thank you.”
Su Yu quickened his pace and walked towards that office. This was the first time in his life that he had come to the place where Xia Qiange worked. He walked to the frosted glass door and did not knock immediately. He stood in front of the door in a daze and vaguely saw the slender figure busy inside.
That was Xia Qiange when she was working seriously at the company. So that’s how it was. The curve of the corners of his eyes deepened. He gently knocked on the glass door a few times, and after a “come in” that was without any warmth, he pushed open the door with his sweaty palm.
He had just pushed open the door a half-wide crack when he met the gaze that had made his heart flutter.
Xia Qiange and he looked at each other for a few seconds. The dark and inky eyes suddenly became bright, as if the starry sky were twinkling. She put down the things in her hand and ran towards him in her high heels, like a little rabbit that relied on its master.
She opened her arms and wrapped them around his neck. She looked at his handsome and elegant eyebrows and eyes, which were like a gurgling stream. They were still so refreshing. She buried her head in the hollow of his neck and rubbed against it intimately. Her soft and delicate voice was like a ball of cotton candy, sweet and soft. “You… why are you here? I thought you had to go to work.”
Su Yu gradually held her tighter, and his voice trembled for a moment and then suddenly calmed down. “It’s almost the New Year. The milk tea shop closed early. I’m on a long vacation now.”
“I see. Then I have good news for you too. I’m on my annual leave from now on. After I’ve finished with these documents, the rest of the time.”, she stood on her tiptoes, and her red lips and white teeth were intertwined. She lightly touched his lips. “It’s just the two of us…”
“Oh… yeah.”
Su Yu’s whole person was stiff. The airflow in the corridor was passing through the half-open door behind him and was brushing against the back of his neck. His heart was pounding, as if it were about to escape his limit of endurance.
He wanted to grab her hand, but she had dodged it. He had grabbed at nothing with a full of expectation.
“What’s wrong?”, he lowered his eyelashes and asked.
She showed a rare coquettishness, and with her not-so-aggressive features, it looked as if she were acting spoiled. “Nothing. You’re so stupid.”
Xia Qiange puffed out her light pink cheeks and was a little depressed. The wood in her arms was so hard that it pressed uncomfortably against her hand. Why did she always have to take the initiative? The greedy desire was endless. She also wanted to see him be as impatient as her and actively crave intimacy.
“Then let’s go home. I made soup before I came. It’s the one you taught me last time.”
“Oh, let’s go back.”
She reluctantly and slowly let go of him. She took the bag on the table and pulled him out. Forget it. She had still accepted the fact that she had to take the initiative. She loved him so much. What she asked for was just that he had to love her.
The crowd outside the corridor was visibly increasing. His Adam’s apple was rolling up and down. He was a little uncomfortable with those chaotic and strange gazes. His steps were slightly paused, and a slightly cold and soft hand was suddenly stuffed into his palm. He was stunned and quietly turned his head to look at Xia Qiange. But she was smiling and looking around, and her expression was natural as she showed everything to those people.
The crowded crowd parted to both sides. Su Yu suddenly raised his head. Between his long and neat messy hair, his eyes were filled with a love that was like a rippling spring water. He was no longer timid and shrinking. He pushed aside those gazes, and all that was left in his eyes was her gentle profile. He held her tightly and walked to the elevator, and he walked in without any hesitation.
They were holding each other’s hands and were facing the crowd. The elevator door slowly closed, and it had blocked the secular world. The narrow space was instantly so quiet that only the two of them were left.
Su Yu bit his lower lip and suddenly laughed goofily.
“What are you laughing at?”
Xia Qiange tilted her head and looked at him, her watery eyes reflecting the starlight.
“Nothing. I just can’t help but laugh.”
“You’re crazy…”, she rolled her eyes at Su Yu and shook his arm. “When do you want to prepare for the wedding?”
He answered without any hesitation, his tone with an unprecedented certainty. “How about… after the New Year.”
“I’ll listen to you. It’s just a wedding for the two of us…” Xia Qiange’s eyes were inexplicably hot. She lowered her forehead and rubbed against Su Yu’s arm, and the corners of her eyes were a little sore. “It’s so fast. We’re getting married.”
“Hey, I’m a little tired of calling you Ah Yu.”
She raised her head, her cheeks flushed, and she was suddenly as excited as a child.
“Huh? Then what should I call you?”, Su Yu was stunned for a few seconds and couldn’t react.
“What should I call you…”, she deliberately tilted her head and thought for a while, and then she suddenly stood on her tiptoes and blew a hot breath in his ear.
“Husband… do you like it?”
