Chapter 3: Asking for a Kiss. There’s a mark she left on the back of her neck.

Cheng Yang bit her lower lip, looking up directly at Xu Xun’s flushed face, then shot a glance at Jian Fan, a look meant to drive off a rival.

Jian Fan squatted on the floor woodenly, hastily stuffing the dropped instruments back into the medical kit before turning to leave without a word.

The wonderful mood had been utterly ruined.

Cheng Yang quickly pecked Xu Xun on the lower lip, then sat primly at the table as if nothing had happened.

In truth, Jian Fan had only come over for a scheduled check-up and hadn’t expected their relationship to have progressed so rapidly.

Xu Xun followed her out the door, and the two exchanged a look of mutual understanding.

Jian Fan’s brow was tightly furrowed, a thousand words turning into a single sigh. “I’m here for the check-up. Is she any better?”

Xu Xun nodded. “Much better. She can walk without support, and she even made me breakfast.”

Cheng Yang’s voice was soft as she repeated Xu Xun’s words, “Mmm, kisses will make it stop hurting.”

A faint gasp sounded by her ear.

Cheng Yang looked up and met Xu Xun’s reddened eyes.

Xu Xun’s eyes were brimming with hot tears, which stunned Cheng Yang. “A-Xun, you… why are you crying?”

“I… I’m fine.” Xu Xun wiped away a tear and shook her head, her voice hoarse. “I’m just so happy to see you’re okay. Thinking back on it still frightens me.”

Cheng Yang reached out, originally intending to wipe the tears from the corner of Xu Xun’s eyes. But suddenly, an idea struck her. She stretched her neck forward and caught a teardrop from the corner of Xu Xun’s eye with her lips.

Xu Xun’s body stiffened abruptly.

She met Cheng Yang’s smiling eyes, and a complex emotion flickered through her own for a fleeting moment.
