Chapter 6: Coaxing. Waiting for you in bed.
The moment the words were out, both of them froze.
Xu Xun froze the instant the words left her mouth.
She moved her lips, carefully watching the oblivious Cheng Yang, and stammered, “I… I didn’t mean it like that.”
Cheng Yang met Xu Xun’s somewhat flustered gaze and asked with a smile, “Don’t you know better than anyone whether I have other Omegas?”
Xu Xun stared blankly at Cheng Yang, her forehead feeling a little warm.
At that moment, the Alpha’s soothing kiss landed.
She heard Cheng Yang say, “You’ve been too tired these days, having to take care of me and handle work, leaving early and coming back late every day.”
Cheng Yang smiled. “It just so happens that I have some rare free time. Now that you’ve won an international award and made a name for yourself on the world stage, all those endorsement deals are rushing in. You’re going to be very busy from now on.”
Xu Xun’s soft, slender fingers rested on the back of Cheng Yang’s hand. She looked up at the Alpha’s sparkling eyes and said self-deprecatingly, “If I had known it would be this busy, I wouldn’t have shot that movie in the first place.”
“You can’t say that.”
Cheng Yang closed her eyes. Although she didn’t fully understand her own situation yet, she knew very well that the entertainment industry was fast-paced and ever-changing, with countless actors coming and going like a school of fish.
If Xu Xun didn’t seize this opportunity, she might just become a “nobody” in the future.
Cheng Yang said tentatively, “A-Xun, listen to me, go on that travel variety show.”
Xu Xun was utterly confused. She didn’t understand why Cheng Yang was so insistent on pushing her away. “Yangyang, why are you too…”
Cheng Yang said earnestly, “I’ve looked up that variety show. This season has many famous actors, and even a director who has won numerous major awards. We both know how valuable this is.”
Xu Xun moved her lips.
Faced with such a temptation, she ultimately shook her head stubbornly. “I’m not going. I want to stay with you. I’m not going anywhere.”
Cheng Yang joked, “It’s just going out for a variety show. It’s not like I’m going to suddenly disappear. What are you afraid of?”
Xu Xun shook her head.
Cheng Yang saw the worry in her heart. “I know you’re worried about me, but you’re only twenty-six. You have a bright future ahead of you. You need to think about your future.”
Xu Xun still remained silent.
Cheng Yang smiled and leaned in to kiss the corner of her lips, saying softly, “I’m even a year younger than you, big sister. Won’t you listen to me?”
Xu Xun’s heart trembled, and the “big sister” from Cheng Yang sent a tingling sensation through her entire body.
Meeting the Alpha’s ardent and direct gaze, Xu Xun nodded blankly. “I promise you.”
The corners of Cheng Yang’s lips curled up. She wrapped her arms around Xu Xun’s neck, their foreheads touching, and said with a smile, “That’s a good girl.”
Xu Xun lowered her eyelids. She couldn’t help but ask, “I know you’re doing this for my own good, but after so many years of acting, I have everything. The only thing I can’t let go of is you.”
Cheng Yang couldn’t help but laugh. She always felt that every word Xu Xun said to her was strange.
This wasn’t some life-or-death parting, just filming a variety show for a few months. It really didn’t warrant such a big reaction.
But on second thought, Cheng Yang realized she had almost died on her way back to the country. Anyone would be traumatized by that.
Therefore, Xu Xun was constantly hovering around her, even willing to pay a sky-high breach of contract fee.
Seeing that Xu Xun had listened to her and agreed to continue filming the variety show, Cheng Yang reminded her, “A-Xun, you should apologize to your manager.”
Xu Xun nodded. “Okay, this time it was my fault…”
Before she could finish, a sharp voice came from outside the door. “Xu Xun! Get out here!”
Cheng Yang was taken aback and asked in a low voice, “Who is that?”
Xu Xun explained, “It’s my manager. Why did she come here directly…”
Cheng Yang pinched Xu Xun’s chin, her eyes curving into crescents. She kissed Xu Xun on the lips and said, “See? I told you this variety show is crucial. Go and coax your manager.”
Those words sounded awkward no matter how you heard them.
Xu Xun didn’t want to go out. She said with a gloomy face, “Don’t talk nonsense. She’s an Omega, and you’re the only one in my heart.”
Cheng Yang pushed Xu Xun out the door, smiling. “Alright, alright. To get jealous over something like this… I can’t be seen in public looking like this, so I’ll go wash up and wait for you in bed.”
Before leaving, Cheng Yang hooked her arm around Xu Xun’s neck again, pressed the back of her head, and gave her a kiss that lasted several seconds.
After the bedroom door closed, Xu Xun subconsciously raised her hand to touch her lips, a dazed, uncontrollable smile spreading across her face.
This smile was caught by Xiao Qing, who was standing at the top of the stairs.
She thought there was something wrong with her eyes at first, but she quickly noticed something was amiss.
Xu Xun was in a relationship!
XU! XUN! WAS! IN! A! RELATIONSHIP!
!!!
This problem was far more terrifying than breaching a contract for a variety show.
Xiao Qing stood there in disbelief. When Xu Xun came down, she was still in a daze.
Xu Xun also noticed that something was off with Xiao Qing. “What’s wrong with you? Why is your face so pale?”
Xiao Qing angrily threw her handbag onto the sofa. She looked at Xu Xun, whose face was flushed and who had a suspicious red mark on her neck, and asked with disappointment, “Are you in a relationship?”
Xu Xun sat on the sofa and said without any evasion, “Yes.”
“Say that again!”
Xiao Qing was furious, her voice turning shrill.
Xu Xun glanced up at her. Her reaction was entirely expected. “Sit down first. Don’t disturb her.”
Xiao Qing’s gaze swept over the closed bedroom door. She lowered her voice, suppressing her uncontrollable anger. “What did you tell me back then? No dating and no marriage before thirty!”
Xu Xun took a sip of plain water and raised an eyebrow. “You actually believed that?”
“Of course I didn’t!”
Xiao Qing’s brow furrowed tightly. “You’re insane! Insane! Getting a room is one thing, but you actually dared to bring someone home! What if you get photographed? Have you thought about the consequences?”
Xu Xun nodded. “I know.”
Xiao Qing was exasperated. “Since you know, you should avoid the risks! Send that person away right now! Don’t be so close in the future!”
Xu Xun leaned back comfortably on the sofa and said with a smile, “Sister Xiao, let’s not talk about this today. Let’s talk about the variety show.”
“Still talking about the variety show? This problem of yours is much bigger than a breach of contract!”
Xiao Qing had never encountered such a difficult situation. She belatedly realized something and said with a smile that didn’t reach her eyes, “So that’s why you suddenly sent a message saying you wanted to breach the contract. It’s because you’re in a relationship.”
Xu Xun didn’t speak, which confirmed Xiao Qing’s suspicion.
Xiao Qing’s brow furrowed into a deep crease. “I’ve seen your performance all these years. I always thought you were a very clear-headed person. But I don’t understand, what kind of celestial beauty is this person you’re hiding that has you so completely captivated and head over heels!”
Xu Xun said, “Sister Xiao, I’ll take responsibility for whatever problems arise from this matter. You don’t need to worry about it.”
Xiao Qing was utterly helpless. “But I’m your manager. How can I just sit back and do nothing?”
Xu Xun lowered her eyes and explained, “There’s no solution to this for now. I won’t break up with her. We’ll officially announce our marriage in a while. I’ve already chosen the venue.”
“…”
Xiao Qing laughed out of anger. “What did you say? Say that again!”
Xu Xun stared straight at her and said, word for word, “I’m going to marry her.”

Cheng Yang was drinking tea on the huge second-floor terrace.
It was called a terrace, but it was more like a small garden, with pots filled with all kinds of peach trees.
It was May now, and the trees were laden with unripe peaches.
Cheng Yang looked up and saw a pale pink peach hanging above her head, looking like it had ripened early.
No wonder she could smell a faint peach fragrance when she looked up. Cheng Yang had thought her pheromones were leaking and had quickly checked her body in a panic.
This peach was pink and round. Cheng Yang reached up and plucked it. It had a layer of fuzz on it, which felt quite nice.
Cheng Yang thought that Xu Xun must really like peaches, otherwise she wouldn’t have planted so many in her home.
But then Cheng Yang had another thought. Her own pheromones were peach-scented. Could it be that Xu Xun planted them because she liked her?
Cheng Yang cupped her chin in both hands and stared intently at the ripe peach on the plate, muttering to herself, “Looks like I’m a love-struck fool.”
She didn’t know how long Xu Xun and her manager had been talking outside. Cheng Yang sat under the peach tree, bored, and decided to take out her phone to read the news.
When she opened Weibo, the trending topics were all about her. There were even rumors that the reason Cheng Yang hadn’t shown her face was because she had already passed away.
Cheng Yang didn’t understand why these people were cursing her for no reason.
She had just posted on Weibo a few days ago to say she was safe, and it had even trended. But now, a new wave of clout-chasing had begun.
Cheng Yang carefully searched her mind for information about her identity. The encyclopedia had quite a detailed introduction about her.
She was first and foremost an actress, and then the only daughter of the chairman of the Cheng Group, single and unmarried.
But there were rumors that she had gotten engaged in March of this year, and the other party’s identity was still unknown.
Cheng Yang had initially wondered why, after such a major event as her car accident and amnesia, her parents had never looked for her, apart from Xu Xun.
Later, upon checking, Cheng Yang discovered that her only mother had passed away from an illness in December of last year.
Cheng Yang had mixed feelings. The group was now managed by her aunt, but the other party had never contacted her. Could the car accident that had almost killed her be related to her aunt?
Cheng Yang returned to the bedroom, opened her computer, and tried to search for some clues. But she couldn’t remember anything now. Staring at the blank web address, her fingertips kept tapping on the keyboard, trying to find something through muscle memory.
Unfortunately, Cheng Yang found nothing.
Her phone’s contact list was also blank. Cheng Yang lay lazily on the bed.
Every time she tried to think about things related to herself, Cheng Yang’s head would start to hurt, as if an invisible force was preventing her from remembering.
It seemed that her past life hadn’t been that pleasant.
Since it wasn’t happy, then I won’t think about it.
Humans are creatures that seek advantages and avoid harm, and Cheng Yang was no exception.
She liked Xu Xun, and she liked the days she spent with Xu Xun, where she could laugh happily every day.
Cheng Yang had watched her previous on-screen videos. On the big screen, she was glamorous, offering a bright, standard smile to everyone.
The person who knows you best in the world is yourself.
Cheng Yang could see from the eyes of this “Cheng Yang” with a flourishing career and a glamorous public image that she was not happy.
Cheng Yang closed the computer, deleted all her browsing history, took off her outer clothes, and went into the bathroom.
·
Downstairs, Xu Xun and Xiao Qing talked for a long time.
She put down her teacup, looked at the gradually darkening sky outside, and said, “Let’s stop here for today. I won’t be so willful anymore. I apologize for what I’ve done.”
Xiao Qing patted Xu Xun’s shoulder and sighed. “You’re still young. In this world, feelings are the least important thing. Money and status are everything. You’ll understand when you get to my age.”
Xu Xun nodded.
Xiao Qing looked at Xu Xun, who had finally stopped being so love-struck after her long persuasion, and asked curiously, “By the way, what’s your lover’s name? Is she an actress or a civilian?”
The corners of Xu Xun’s lips curved. “Her name is Cheng Yang.”
Xiao Qing thought for a moment and said casually, “Cheng Yang, why does that name sound so familiar…”
The two of them looked at each other, and Xiao Qing immediately realized that something was wrong.
She searched her mind for information about this “Cheng Yang” for a while and finally found something amiss.
Xiao Qing’s voice was trembling when she spoke. She asked tentatively, “Which Cheng and which Yang?”
Xu Xun stood up and smiled. “What do you think?”
The water glass in her hand fell to the floor with a clatter, shattering into pieces.
Xiao Qing’s vision went black.
Hmm
