It didn’t take long for Qin Jiashu to realize that something was going on between the two of them.
Ji Yan made no effort to hide the freshly tied butterfly knot on her hand. In fact, she seemed to be flaunting it, brandishing the bandage right in front of Qin Jiashu’s face.
There was no need to ask who was responsible for such clumsy, childishly cute handiwork.
Had Ji Yan not been afraid of scaring off the shy, easily rattled Xu Yinian, she would have made sure Qin Jiashu witnessed the “special treatment” while it was actually being performed.
So what if you interrupted us? she seemed to say.
Thousand Cranes had stayed behind after finishing the opening credits. Initially, she had lingered to see if the newcomer would perform poorly, hoping she might still have a chance to snatch the role back.
However, after that awkward “senior encouragement” blunder with Xu Yinian, her heart had softened for some reason.
She remained in the recording booth, feeling out of place. Even though her current target, Jian Yan, and her former “White Moonlight” Senior Sister were both in the room, her attention kept drifting toward Xu Yinian.
Earlier, when Qin Jiashu had possessively squeezed herself between her and Xu Yinian, Thousand Cranes had felt something was off. Now, hearing those pointed words, a ridiculous suspicion took root in her mind.
Was it possible that the person Qin Jiashu was “chasing” wasn’t Jian Yan, but this little newcomer instead?
Wait… isn’t Qin Jiashu a total bottom?
Thousand Cranes wasn’t the only one wondering. Qin Jiashu’s jealous remarks had been picked up by the audio equipment and transmitted directly into the ears of the staff outside.
Everyone loved gossip and shipping couples, and the employees at Monologue were all young people well-versed in the “fandom circle.” Sensing fresh tea, they began to stir, exchanging knowing glances.
Qin Jiashu was using an alias today. With Lin San’s personal guarantee, she hadn’t even needed an audition; the staff only knew her by her pseudonym, “Qin Yishu.”
From the moment she appeared, her striking looks, mature “big sister” voice, and the confident poise of a seasoned veteran had drawn as much attention as Ji Yan. Everyone suspected she was a high-level pro using a secret identity, and they were dying of curiosity.
Now, seeing Qin Jiashu flirting and acting jealous over Xu Yinian—and calling her “Junior Sister”—everything clicked.
So, they were acquaintances. Perhaps this big shot had lowered herself to play a minor supporting role just to help guide her junior?
Or, to think of something even more exciting: maybe she knew Xu Yinian was recording a scene with Jian Yan and came here specifically to keep watch and guard her territory?
The staff didn’t just understand the situation; they were actively shipping it. They began winking frantically at Lin San.
Lin San pretended not to see them, thinking to herself, Is this even a big deal? Ji Yan hasn’t even started yet!
If they actually started fighting over Xu Yinian, the resulting scenes would leave the staff truly shell-shocked. If the fires of this Shura Field actually reached a boiling point, would they even get any recording done?
Seizing a gap in the conversation before any of the three could speak, Lin San quickly interjected, “Get ready…”
Her voice was like a lifeline to Xu Yinian, who looked visibly relieved to be spared the heat of the moment.
She quickly pulled her script closer, but her breath hitched again when she caught sight of the note Ji Yan had written to her. Her breathing fell completely out of rhythm.
Before Lin San could finish the countdown, Qin Jiashu spoke up with a perfectly logical excuse that was impossible to refuse.
“Director Lin, I’d like to change seats before we start. My lines don’t appear until the third segment of this scene. I’ll sit next to Xu Yinian for now. Since I brought her here, it’s only right that I guide her. It’ll be more convenient. I’ll move back to the mic when it’s time for my dialogue.”
Qin Jiashu was, quite clearly, provoked by the “NTR” moment of the bandage being tied right under her nose.
And that was while she had been closely monitoring their every move. If she had been suspicious before, it was undeniable now.
The staff outside were practically vibrating with excitement. Before Lin San could rack her brain for a reason to say no, several voices burst out in an enthusiastic, suppressed agreement.
“Sure! That works!”
The commotion easily drowned out Xu Yinian’s weak protest of, “No… it’s fine…”
Lin San nearly coughed up blood. These people just want to see the world burn, don’t they?
Qin Jiashu moved her chair and sat directly beside Xu Yinian. Her gaze immediately drifted toward the script on the table.
In a panic, Xu Yinian slammed her hand down to cover the written exchange between her and Ji Yan.
“Junior Sister, I’ve heard that Teacher Jian hates it when people make mistakes or when she has to give advice,” Qin Jiashu said, her tone as sweet and intimate as ever. “So, no matter what criticisms the Senior gives you later, don’t take them to heart. Your Senior Sister will take care of you.”
Qin Jiashu didn’t push to see the secret note. Instead, she fell back into her role as the doting mentor.
Her words were a blatant attempt to smear Ji Yan, dripping with passive-aggressive “Green Tea” energy while calling her “Teacher Jian” and “Senior.” She was subtly painting Ji Yan as a villain to make Xu Yinian fear her.
A vein throbbed in Ji Yan’s forehead. She let out a cold laugh, her voice sharp and dangerous.
“Is this Miss Qin’s first time voice acting? You seem so knowledgeable. Why don’t you tell me exactly whose mouth you heard those rumors from?”
When she turned back to Xu Yinian, the “mad dog” persona vanished instantly. She stared into Xu Yinian’s averted eyes for a long moment before murmuring softly, “Xu Yinian, don’t believe her.”
The truth was, every recording engineer and editor present knew that “Briefly Put” was notoriously solitary and strict.
While no one dared say anything to Ji Yan’s face, they secretly agreed with Qin Jiashu’s “Green Tea” assessment of her personality.
They had never seen her lower herself to plead or coax someone like this. They looked at each other in shock, as if they had seen a ghost.
