Chapter 55: The Two Little Dogs
Jiang Jiajia brought the food back to the room. The dog-noses of Li Hanyan and Xiao Nian in the next room both caught the scent. While Ke Yan wasn’t paying attention, they slipped into the next room.
When Ke Yan came back, the people in the room were gone. No! She had just gone out to wash her face, how did these two disappear? She was so scared she quickly ran to the next room to find Xiao Xu.
The moment she opened the door, she smelled the aroma of fried chicken. Then she saw Liu Chuxia sitting on the sofa, eating. Then she turned her head and saw Li Hanyan and Xiao Nian both kneeling obediently at Liu Chuxia’s feet, looking at the food in her hand. They really did look like two little dogs.
Ke Yan didn’t even know what to say. “This… sister! You’re awake! Why are you two here? Come back with me quickly. Don’t disturb sister while she’s eating.”
Ke Yan was so anxious she wanted to pull the two of them, but Liu Chuxia looked at her with a smile and said, “It’s fine. Just let them eat with me like this. They’re quite cute, haha.” With that, she stroked Li Hanyan’s head and fed her a piece of braised pork.
Xiao Nian was watching from the side, swallowing her saliva, her craving unbearable.
Liu Chuxia gave her a piece of fried chicken and looked at Jiang Jiajia with a smile.
“Then, then sister, I’ll help you…”
“You don’t need to do anything. Sit down. You have some too.”
Xiao Xu came out of the bedroom and, seeing Ke Yan’s helpless expression, walked over and pulled her to sit on the sofa.
“Why are you so nervous now that sister is awake? It’s not like sister is one of those stuffy-headed people,” Xiao Xu said, looking at her with amusement.
Jiang Jiajia sat on the side and sighed, then stood up. “A Nian, can you come to me?”
Xiao Nian heard her wife calling her, but looking at the delicious food in front of her, she couldn’t move. Just as she was hesitating, Li Hanyan pushed her.
“This is my wife’s food. Why should you eat it? I’ve already given you a piece of fried chicken. Have you no shame?”
Xiao Nian also pushed her back in anger. “This was bought by my wife. Why can’t I eat it!”
Then the two of them started wrestling again. Liu Chuxia quickly got up and dodged, standing on the side with a smile and watching them, not forgetting to put food in her mouth. She watched with great relish and even took out her phone to record.
Jiang Jiajia facepalmed and sighed. “Chuxia, you should go and eat inside. Xiao Xu, Ke Yan, quick, come and help. If they scratch each other again, I’m afraid there will be another scene.”
Liu Chuxia put down her lunchbox with a grin, walked over to them, and said, “Let me. Children are actually very easy to coax, and also very easy to trick, haha.”
Then she walked to the side of the two of them and said, “Children who like to fight and scold others don’t get candy to eat, and no food to eat either.”
The moment Li Hanyan and Xiao Nian heard this, they immediately stopped fighting. They stood up obediently and looked at Liu Chuxia nervously, afraid that they wouldn’t get any candy or food.
“Very good, very obedient. Now go and sit on the sofa obediently. I’ll give you your food. After you finish eating, there will be sweet soup to drink, but you have to be good.”
Li Hanyan and Xiao Nian nodded vigorously, then both sat obediently on the sofa, looking at Liu Chuxia and waiting for her to give them their food.
Liu Chuxia opened an untouched box of shredded pork with garlic sauce and gave them each half, also taking some for herself. Then she gave them a few pieces of fried chicken. Finally, two identical portions of food were placed in front of them.
But the two of them didn’t dare to start eating. They just looked at Liu Chuxia with puppy-dog eyes. Only after seeing her nod did they dare to start eating.
Jiang Jiajia, Xiao Xu, and Ke Yan were stunned. Before, they had to separate these two when they ate, otherwise they would definitely fight. How could they be so obediently eating from their own bowls now?
“Chuxia, why aren’t they fighting? There’s never been a time when they were so peaceful,” Jiang Jiajia said in surprise, looking at Liu Chuxia.
“It’s simple. It’s fair. Their food and fried chicken are all the same, and they even look about the same, so it’s impossible for them to argue. Another reason is that I said there would be sweet soup to drink after they finish eating. They’re all thinking about finishing quickly. How would they have any energy to fight and argue?” Liu Chuxia explained with a chuckle, looking at the two of them who were burying their heads in their food.
“Awesome. You’re the awesome one. I’ve been tormented by these two for the past few days,” Jiang Jiajia said, leaning on her listlessly.
“Then why don’t you go and rest for a while now? I can watch them.”
Jiang Jiajia shook her head and moved away from her. “A Nian will cry if she can’t see me. I’ll just lay a mat here in the living room and lie down for a while.”
“Mhm, that works too,” Liu Chuxia said, nodding and eating her food.
After Liu Chuxia finished eating, she mischievously pinched Li Hanyan’s nose as she was sleeping soundly. She let go when she saw her frown, repeating this over and over, having a great time.
“Sister, time to take your medicine. This is the last dose,” Xiao Xu said, walking over with a bowl of green medicinal soup.
“Okay, just leave it there.” Liu Chuxia was currently teasing Li Hanyan, laughing uncontrollably.
“Sister, stop playing. If Hanyan wakes up, she’ll probably cry for about ten minutes,” Ke Yan advised.
Liu Chuxia nodded. After all, children’s morning tempers were indeed a bit heavier. She smiled and let Li Hanyan go.
Then she took the green medicinal soup and took a sip. It was neither bitter nor sweet, tasteless, but it had a strong medicinal aroma, a very strange feeling.
“Sister, shall I tell you about what happened these past few days now?” Xiao Xu asked, sitting next to Liu Chuxia and watching her drink the medicinal soup.
“Hmm? Okay.” After finishing the medicinal soup, Liu Chuxia placed the bowl on the table, wiped her mouth, and then sat up straight to look at Xiao Xu.
Xiao Xu and Ke Yan then told her what had happened these past few days.
“Did Hanyan really say that? And are your injuries serious?” Liu Chuxia frowned, looking at the person sleeping peacefully on the side.
Xiao Xu nodded. “Sister Hanyan even wanted Yanbao to sign a contract with her, to have her give you three drops of ghost blood every month.” At this point, Xiao Xu was a little angry again, but she still answered her second question, “It’s fine now. Dr. Han has already come to see us.”
Liu Chuxia nodded.
Then she looked at Xiao Xu and asked, “Ghost blood? Xiaoyan’s? Is that harmful to Xiaoyan?”
Xiao Xu nodded frantically. “Of course it is. Not to mention a drop of blood, even a tiny bit of blood can make Yanbao wish she were dead. A drop of blood can take half her life!”
Liu Chuxia frowned at Xiao Xu. She hadn’t expected Li Hanyan to be so ruthless to her own people. “What Hanyan did was indeed wrong. It’s a good thing you protected Xiaoyan.”
Xiao Xu shook her head. “It was Sister Jiajia and Sister Xiao Nian who helped me stop her. Otherwise, if it were just me, I’m afraid I really wouldn’t have been able to protect her.” The thought that if she hadn’t protected Ke Yan, she might have really had to sign that contract, made Xiao Xu feel extremely sad.
Seeing Xiao Xu’s on-the-verge-of-tears expression, Liu Chuxia patted her head with heartache and comforted her, “It’s fine now. You were quite brave to dare to say those things in front of Hanyan. I remember you were very afraid of her at the beginning, haha. It seems having a wife really changes you, doesn’t it?”
Xiao Xu shyly hid in Ke Yan’s embrace. She didn’t know how to answer.
Seeing her like this, Liu Chuxia mischievously grabbed her clothes and pulled her towards her, saying with a laugh, “Hey? Why are you so shy? Come on, let’s continue talking about how you bravely saved Xiaoyan.”
Ke Yan felt the little brat in her arms burrowing hard into her embrace and looked at Liu Chuxia with a smile. “Sister, don’t tease her anymore. Xiao Xu is thin-skinned and shy.”
Liu Chuxia nodded with a smile and let go of her hand. “So you can’t take a compliment, huh? Haha, alright, get up. I want to go to the training room to practice my sword. You two can practice with me.”
