Chapter 84: Taking a Disciple
“You’re quite capable then,” Liu Chuxia said.
“If you’re not capable, you can’t survive in there,” Lu Jueyu said after finishing her meal, wiping her mouth with a piece of paper and taking a sip of herbal tea.
“Captain Lu, you’re done eating? Then we won’t keep you company,” Liu Chuxia said with a smile, drinking her tea.
Lu Jueyu touched her head and said with an embarrassed smile, “Um, I have a favor to ask. I want to join your Liu family to learn some skills. I wonder if that’s possible?”
“If you’re willing to give up your position as captain, you can,” Li Hanyan said, handing Liu Chuxia a wet wipe.
“I mean, if one of you takes me as a disciple, I won’t have to give up my position as captain, right?” Lu Jueyu said with some guilt.
“Speak. What do you want?” Li Hanyan looked at her with a smile.
“Well… it’s just that, doesn’t your Liu family have someone named Xie Yuya? I want… I want to pursue her,” Lu Jueyu said, scratching her head with some embarrassment.
The group squinted at her. Liu Chuxia spoke first, “How do you know her?”
“Well, I wanted to go up the mountain before, but she persuaded me not to. Because if I was gone, these soldiers under me would be temporarily without a leader, and she was afraid of an internal conflict. I thought it made sense, so I didn’t go.”
“And you fell for her just like that?” Jiang Jiajia asked.
“Not really. It was just the first time someone had cared about me. It felt pretty good. So… I thought of pursuing her. Then someone would care about me in the future. And… and every time I see her, my heart races, and I blush. Maybe I really have fallen for her,” Lu Jueyu’s face was flushed, comparable to a monkey’s butt.
“Oh~” the group looked at her teasingly.
This made Lu Jueyu extremely shy, but she still looked up and asked, “Um, which one of you is willing to take me as a disciple?”
“None of us can,” Li Hanyan said with a smile, looking at her.
“Then… then who can?”
“Come to our courtyard at ten tonight. I’ll introduce you to a master.”
“Really?”
“Really.”
“Alright then. Thank you, Master Hanyan,” Lu Jueyu said with a smile, walking over, her eyes filled with gratitude.
“No need to thank me. I’ll be troubling you a lot in the future. That’s all. We’ll be going now,” Li Hanyan said, taking Liu Chuxia’s hand and standing up. Seeing Lu Jueyu nod, she went out.
When the group returned to the house, Li Hanyan told them that she would have Xiao Xu take Lu Jueyu as a disciple later.
“Isn’t that too risky?” Jiang Jiajia asked with some worry.
“It’s fine. She won’t find out that Xiao Xu is a ghost. Even if she does, she’ll keep it a secret for Xie Yuya’s sake. Since she’s agreed, there’s no turning back. Don’t worry, I’ve got everything,” Li Hanyan said seriously, looking at them.
“Alright. Since you’ve decided, you can arrange it. Anyway, she wants to join the Liu family. Then Xiao Nian and I will go back to our room.”
“Mhm, get some good rest. It’s been hard on you to come with us for nothing today.”
“What are you talking about? We didn’t come for nothing. Remember to tell us about that Lin Ying later. We’re quite interested,” Jiang Jiajia said teasingly.
Li Hanyan didn’t agree but glanced at Liu Chuxia.
Liu Chuxia nodded. “I’ll tell you after I’ve sorted it out.”
“Alright, then we’ll go back to our room.”
“Mhm.”
Only Li Hanyan and Liu Chuxia were left in the living room. For a moment, neither of them spoke.
“A Xia, if not for me, would you have been with her?” Li Hanyan’s eyes instantly turned red as she spoke.
Liu Chuxia didn’t speak. Instead, she pulled her into the room, closed the door, and kissed her.
It wasn’t until she heard Li Hanyan’s ragged breathing that Liu Chuxia stopped.
She pulled back a little and said, “Li Hanyan, if you ask such a stupid question again, I’ll give you the cold shoulder.”
“Why is it a stupid question? Explain it to me,” Li Hanyan didn’t back down and retorted with red eyes.
“Are you a pig? She’s like a little sister to me. How could it be that kind of love? Even if she confessed to me, I would refuse. All you do all day is get jealous for no reason,” Liu Chuxia said, poking her in the chest, extremely angry.
Li Hanyan’s eyes were red, and she looked extremely wronged. Hearing what Liu Chuxia said, she was a little happy again.
“I was just afraid. Don’t be angry. It’s not good for your health.”
“You don’t trust me. How can I not be angry?”
“I was asking about before we were together, not now,” Li Hanyan said with a wronged expression.
“I don’t care. You just don’t trust me,” Liu Chuxia said, turning her head away, not wanting to talk to her.
“Don’t be angry, okay? I was wrong. I won’t ask again in the future, okay?” Li Hanyan hugged her from behind and coaxed her softly, nibbling on her earlobe.
“You said it yourself.”
“Mhm.”
Because they still had things to do later, the two of them only cuddled affectionately for a while. They let Xiao Xu and Ke Yan out and then told them about Lu Jueyu’s matter.
“Me? Take a disciple? Aren’t you making a mountain out of a molehill?” Xiao Xu said, unconvinced.
“You can think of an assessment to see if she’s qualified. If she’s not, just don’t take her,” Li Hanyan said, looking at her.
“Really? I can think of whatever I want?”
“It has to be reasonable.”
“Fine.”
Around 9:50 PM, Liu Chuxia and Li Hanyan sat in the courtyard with the two ghosts.
Not long after, Lu Jueyu knocked on the courtyard door. Ke Yan went to open the door and led the person in.
“Master Hanyan, Young Lord Chuxia,” Lu Jueyu said, nodding at them in greeting.
“Let’s skip the formalities. This is Xiao Xu. She will be your master from now on. But she wants to test you. She will give you time to prepare.” Then she pointed at Ke Yan and said, “This is your mistress. Remember to be filial in the future.”
Ke Yan was a little embarrassed. “There’s no need for filial piety. I can’t teach you anything. Just be filial to Xiao Xu.”
“What are you talking about? My disciple should be filial to you. But before you become my disciple, let me test you.”
With that, she suddenly attacked Lu Jueyu.
Lu Jueyu: Didn’t you say you’d give me time to prepare?
Lu Jueyu was not a captain for nothing. She reacted immediately and dodged to the side. But Xiao Xu wouldn’t let her off so easily and continued to attack.
The two of them sparred for about fifteen minutes. Xiao Xu was very satisfied with this disciple and stopped.
Lu Jueyu was already exhausted. This was much more tiring than her usual training. When she saw Xiao Xu stop, she knelt directly on the ground.
“Why am I so tired?” Lu Jueyu was now lying on the ground, sweating profusely.
Xiao Xu stood beside her, threw her a clean towel, and said with a smile, “I was testing your spiritual power. It’s indeed not bad to be able to last for fifteen minutes. Come on, get up. Perform the disciple ceremony.”
Lu Jueyu stood up with difficulty. “What should I do?”
“Kneel.”
Lu Jueyu knelt down obediently.
“Are you sure you want to enter this circle?”
“I’m sure.”
“Are you willing even if there’s no turning back? And you can’t tell anyone that you’ve taken me as your master. You can’t let anyone outside the Liu family know. Are you willing to do that too?”
“I am,” Lu Jueyu’s eyes were particularly firm.
“Alright. Drink this bowl of wine. From now on, you are my disciple. You have to be filial to your mistress in the future, you know? She is my life.”
Ke Yan glared at her.
“Of course.” Then she downed it in one go without hesitation.
