Chapter 27
In the early hours of the morning, Jing’an was already enveloped by the night. The streets were sparsely populated, with only a few cars occasionally passing by.
But at the airport, a small group of people still stood guard at the arrivals exit. Some carried cameras, others held photo materials, all whispering and discussing amongst themselves.
About ten minutes later, a woman with a beautiful figure walked briskly out of the exit. Although sunglasses and a mask hid her features, they couldn’t conceal her ethereal presence.
The crowd began to stir, and the woman was instantly surrounded. Although the number wasn’t large, it was still a bit difficult to handle all at once.
“Excuse me, please make way. Everyone, please make way. Thank you for your cooperation.”
Shi Qin glanced over. Thankfully, Mo Li was by her side, helping to clear a path. She had just attended a fashion event last night and flown back from another city. She hadn’t expected that even at nearly two in the morning, there would still be fans waiting for her.
She took off her mask and glasses and smiled at the fans who had come to pick her up. Her exquisite, doll-like face made some fans gasp softly.
“Ah!!”
“Big Sis, look at me, look at me!”
Along the way, Shi Qin patiently signed autographs for her fans as usual. She even chatted for a few sentences with some fans she recognized. It wasn’t until they reached the outside of the airport that Shi Qin turned around and smiled at everyone again.
“Alright, it’s very late now. Everyone should go home and rest quickly. See you next time.”
“Bye-bye, Big Sis!”
“Goodbye, goodbye~”
Amidst the cheers of her fans, Shi Qin waved goodbye, turned around, and got into the car. The moment the door closed, she let out a weary sigh.
Her gaze fell on Mo Li, who was sitting beside her with a sleepy expression. She couldn’t help but tease, “Xiao Mo, are you very tired?”
Mo Li nodded woodenly, saying listlessly, “A little. I had coffee before getting on the plane, so it’s okay.”
“Do you have any regrets about following me? If you hadn’t come with me, maybe Chen Ming would have arranged for you to work with some newcomers. The schedule would have been more relaxed in comparison.”
When Shi Qin had chosen to terminate her contract, seeing Mo Li still taking care of her so diligently, her heart had softened, and she had told her in advance, as a proper farewell.
But after hearing this, the young girl had a resentful look on her face, pulling on her arm and whining, begging to be taken with her.
After all, not every artist was so easy to talk to. She didn’t want to be assigned to “serve” some young masters or misses.
Not famous, but still proud and arrogant.
Since her debut, Mo Li had been in charge of her schedule. Occasionally, when she was busy, some miscellaneous tasks would fall to Mo Li. The two were of similar age and got along well. If she were to switch to following someone else now, she would feel a bit unaccustomed.
Moreover, seeing her pouting and looking so pitiful, Shi Qin couldn’t bring herself to refuse.
“How could I regret it?!” At this mention, Mo Li perked up considerably, her body straightening. “And your schedule is getting fuller now. You even have fans picking you up this late. It means your popularity has grown, and more people like you.”
“I’m so happy, I don’t have time for regrets.”
Mo Li said to herself, getting more and more excited, “Maybe in the future, you’ll become an A-list star, or even an international superstar. Then my status will have to rise too. I’ve been with you since you just debuted, you know.”
The way she said it, with a hint of pride in her tone, made even Shi Qin laugh.
“You have the sweetest mouth.”
Why can’t a certain someone be a little more enlightened?
.
When she lay down in her apartment, Shi Qin picked up her phone and saw that it was almost four in the morning. Fortunately, her schedule for the next day was in the afternoon.
Having just finished washing up, most of her sleepiness had dissipated. She lay in bed, idly scrolling through her Moments.
Most of the posts were from artists’ private daily lives. Someone was even selling “gossip,” 50 yuan for a piece. The funny thing was that there were many familiar artists commenting below.
Indeed, regardless of status, the essence of humanity is the love of gossip.
Halfway through, she actually came across a post from a certain Zhou person, who was rarely active.
It was a share of an academic report on biology. Shi Qin clicked into her Moments, and they were all similar shares, not a single one about her daily life.
Looking at it this way, she didn’t seem like a young person in her twenties, but more like a middle-aged person who loved to follow the news.
Shi Qin remembered the kiss a while ago, when Zhou Jinsi had turned the tables on her.
She was like a beast released from a cage after a long time. Shi Qin had never thought that Zhou Jinsi had such an extroverted side. She had almost lost her breath, about to suffocate…
When Shi Qin came back to her senses, she felt inexplicably dry-mouthed. She picked up the water glass by her bed and drained the remaining half to feel better.
Far away, Zhou Jinsi, still in her dreams, had no idea she was being secretly criticized.
Just as she was about to turn off the light and lie down, Jiang Nuo suddenly sent her a string of messages.
Several documents, and a series of voice messages.
Jiang Nuo: Qinqin, these are the scripts I’ve screened for you. Although these roles are not the first or second lead, the quality of the scripts is top-notch.
Jiang Nuo: Some of the dramas you’ve filmed before, to put it bluntly, aside from the buzz from the ship with Yin Chenxuan, very few have caught the public’s eye. What we need to do now is to change your public image step by step.
Jiang Nuo: By the way, I also sent you a variety show. The format is quite novel. You can take a look at it too.
Shi Qin: Got it~
Shi Qin: Sleep early, Auntie.
Shi Qin decided to save the scripts for a closer look tomorrow. She was rather interested in that variety show.
This variety show was currently recruiting artists for its first season. The name was “Best Partner,” and it was roughly a wilderness survival variety show.
The format was novel in that, unlike current shows with all-artist guests, this one paired artists with non-celebrities to spend a week together in the wild.
Although they were called non-celebrities, the ones chosen by the production team were mostly newcomers preparing to debut. Moreover, it was stated that it would be a male-female partnership, which was basically a dating show in disguise.
Shi Qin also heard from Jiang Nuo’s voice message that this variety show was also produced by a new director. It didn’t have much buzz, and the budget was limited, so the number of popular artists they could choose from was even smaller. Someone like Shi Qin, who wasn’t a top-tier star but had a lot of discussion around her, was naturally on their priority list. So, when they sent the invitation, their attitude was extremely sincere.
After reading the show’s introduction and format, Shi Qin wasn’t too interested in the show itself. It was the pairing with a non-celebrity that caught her attention.
A week of wilderness survival… sounds quite interesting.
A bold idea surfaced in her mind. A faint smile appeared on Shi Qin’s lips.
Her fingers tapped, sending a message to Jiang Nuo.
Shi Qin: Auntie~
Shi Qin: I want to learn more about that variety show. Help me contact the production team.
She’s brewing something
