Chapter 69
The room was quiet.
Shi Qin looked into Zhou Jinsi’s eyes, which were as affectionate as water, like a vast ocean. She felt as if she were about to drown under this gaze.
She closed her eyes, using the small tip of her nose to touch the other’s face, her expression very focused, as if she were searching for some treasure.
She murmured in a low voice, “I’ll remember. If you lie, you’re a little dog, hmm?”
Zhou Jinsi let her nuzzle against her cheek, enjoying it immensely as she half-closed her eyes, her hand stroking wantonly over the thin fabric of Shi Qin’s back.
“I won’t lie to you. But I’m also your little dog…”
Shi Qin suddenly stopped moving. Her ears could almost hear the frantic beating in her own chest, like a restless drumbeat, each one more intense than the last.
She bit her lip, hiding her inner joy, and sized up Zhou Jinsi’s face with a bewitching gaze, which suddenly stopped at her tightly pressed lips.
Her fingers lightly rested on her soft lips, slowly rubbing them, a seductive voice sounding in Zhou Jinsi’s ear:
“Come on, call me ‘Big Sis’ and let me hear it.”
Zhou Jinsi: “Big Sis…”
A soft, shallow whisper, falling like a leaf onto the lake of Shi Qin’s heart. Just that one touch, yet it was like an explosion, instantly stirring up turbulent waves.
No more words were needed. The two of them kissed passionately, their tongues stirring up a sweet nectar that flowed into their hearts.
The hands that had been wrapped around her loosened, traveling down to find Zhou Jinsi’s palm, their fingers intertwining…
After a bout of intimacy, the two of them went to shower separately. Because Shi Qin was tired today, Zhou Jinsi was unwilling to torment her further.
After their showers, they obediently lay in bed, holding each other, ready to sleep.
It was rare for the two of them to have a good night’s sleep. Shi Qin lay in Zhou Jinsi’s arms, tracing her high-bridged nose in the dark, and suddenly felt all her sleepiness dissipate.
“Xiao Si… I’m not sleepy yet. What should I do?”
Hearing this, Zhou Jinsi suddenly laughed out loud.
“Not sleepy?”
Her hand restlessly reached for Shi Qin’s earlobe, her fingertips lightly teasing the curve of her ear, causing Shi Qin to let out a soft, unbearable moan of tingling numbness.
“Tsk, stop messing around…” Shi Qin pushed her away, embarrassed and annoyed.
But inwardly, she thought, I shouldn’t have let this person ‘study’ so much. Now, all her sensitive spots were known to her.
We’re both beginners. How can this person improve so quickly?
To this, Zhou Jinsi replied with great pride:
“When has my learning ability ever been poor? Back in school, wasn’t my ranking always above yours?”
Shi Qin: “…”
Tossing and turning, Shi Qin really couldn’t fall asleep. Zhou Jinsi then turned on the projector in her room and found a classic romance film to watch.
This movie, Shi Qin had seen it several times, but it had been a long time, and she didn’t quite remember some of the plot details.
But she didn’t find it boring. On the contrary, at this moment, nestled in Zhou Jinsi’s warm embrace, she felt that such a time was very precious, and even watching the movie gradually became mesmerizing.
As the movie neared its end, a wave of sleepiness washed over Shi Qin. Unknowingly, her eyelids gradually grew heavy.
The ending of the story was a tragedy. The female lead was about to pass away from cancer soon, but the male lead still firmly chose to marry her.
Shi Qin’s eyes were almost closed. In a daze, she saw the scene of the main characters walking down the aisle hand in hand. She asked the person beside her, her consciousness unclear:
“Will we have a day like this too?”
Zhou Jinsi looked down at her. Her dazed little face made her feel it was very cute. Her hand on her waist held her a little tighter.
“I can’t promise you too much right now, but as long as you want it, I will do my best to give you the best.”
Her voice was very light, and she deliberately lowered it a little, as if it had a special magic. Listening to her whisper, Shi Qin felt a heavy wave of sleepiness wash over her, not even having the strength to open her eyes.
“Mmm… you… why are you so good to me?”
Zhou Jinsi thought she was asleep and was about to turn off the projector, but the person in her arms spoke again.
“Because… you’ve already given me the best gift.”
“Mhm?” Shi Qin let out a questioning sound like a little kitten. “What… gift?”
Zhou Jinsi: “You.”
“You are the best gift I’ve ever received.”
A smile played on Zhou Jinsi’s lips as she lightly placed a kiss on Shi Qin’s forehead.
.
After Jing’an entered autumn, it seemed to have entered a rainy season.
Several consecutive days of rain caused the temperature to drop sharply. The streets were still wet with puddles, uneven and bumpy. Most pedestrians had switched to thin sweaters. Some were walking briskly, others were strolling and chatting.
Jiang Nuo seemed to be looking out the window with great interest. This kind of time, watching the various states of people and leisurely sipping tea, was very comfortable.
“We haven’t seen each other in a long time, have we?”
A weathered male voice suddenly broke the tranquility. Jiang Nuo’s brow furrowed slightly as she turned her gaze back.
She looked at the man before her. The brim of his black hat covered his bottomless eyes, leaving a shadow.
Jiang Nuo put down her teacup and said nonchalantly, “Director Lu, are you afraid of being seen? You even have to dress like this to come out for tea.”
Lu Xing’s expression froze for a moment, then he gave an awkward laugh. “No, it’s just a habit.”
“So, what did you suddenly ask me out for today? There shouldn’t be any private matters for us to discuss, right?”
Jiang Nuo’s cold words made Lu Xing choke. He took a sip of tea. After a long moment, he finally looked up at the person before him.
“Then I won’t beat around the bush.”
“You’re… Shi Qin’s manager now?”
Jiang Nuo’s brow furrowed even tighter. “Yes, she’s an artist at our company. What are you trying to say?”
A smile appeared on Lu Xing’s lips, but paired with his sharp eyes, it seemed a little frightening.
His fingers rubbed the smooth surface of the cup. Looking at the clear tea swaying inside, he said in a deep voice, “Ye Qingnan’s child back then… was left in your care, right?”
Jiang Nuo’s eyes sharpened, staring at him. “You have no right to mention her.”
“And I don’t understand what you’re saying.”
Back then, when Jiang Nuo didn’t know about that matter, she would often visit Ye Qingnan’s set. After a while, some of their overly intimate actions were noticed by Lu Xing.
To protect Jiang Nuo, Ye Qingnan had refused to admit their relationship under Lu Xing’s interrogation. And Lu Xing had deliberately given the recording to Jiang Nuo, which was what had caused the real rupture in their relationship.
Lu Xing sighed, as if with emotion. “Those things happened so many years ago. I did do something wrong to Qingnan and the child back then, but now I want to compensate. You have to give me a chance, right?”
“I know it hasn’t been easy for you to take care of the child for so many years. Wouldn’t it be better to have one more person to share the burden with you?”
“She has already lost her mother. Are you going to let her not even acknowledge her father?”
Jiang Nuo stared at the teacup before her. She suppressed the urge to splash the hot tea on him, practically gritting her teeth as she spoke.
“What right do you have?”
“If it weren’t for you back then, would Qingnan have died?”
Jiang Nuo glared at him fiercely. If killing wasn’t a crime, she really wanted to cut this beast into a thousand pieces.
Lu Xing did not avoid her gaze. The two of them were silent for a moment. Lu Xing then silently took out a folded piece of paper from his pocket and gave it to her.
Jiang Nuo opened the paper. Inside was a hospital’s paternity test report.
The report stated that Lu Xing and Shi Qin had a real parent-child relationship.
“This test is not forged. The hospital can check the records. Shi Qin is my child.”
“I just wanted to let you know today. And this piece of paper, I will also give her a copy.”
Jiang Nuo calmly placed the paper on the table, a cold smile on her lips. “Do you think she will acknowledge you if she knows what happened back then?”
“And…” Jiang Nuo’s grip on the teacup tightened, her eyes instantly becoming sharp. “Aren’t you afraid that your wife will find out you have an illegitimate daughter?”
“If you had even a shred of conscience, you should have stopped it back then. But you didn’t.”
“Lu Xing, what kind of man are you?”
After Jiang Nuo finished speaking, she turned her head to look out the window again, no longer paying attention to the man’s increasingly dark face.
Lu Xing’s face was gloomy, his eyes as deep as a dead abyss.
“If she wants to stay in this industry, the help I can give her is not insignificant. If she’s smart, she’ll know how to choose.”
Lu Xing drank the tea in his cup in one gulp, then slammed it on the table.
“This one’s on me. I have something to do. We’ll talk again when we have time.”
With that, Lu Xing lowered the brim of his hat, stood up, and walked straight out.
Jiang Nuo turned her gaze back, watching his departing figure, and silently took out her phone to make a call.
“Qinqin, just as you thought, he already knows your identity…”
.
The next day, on the set of “Delicate Flower.”
Shi Qin’s scenes had already been half-filmed. At this moment, she had just finished a take. She was resting in the RV, looking at her lines for the next scene.
Just as she was focused, Mo Li walked over with an anxious expression.
Seeing her look, Shi Qin was confused. “What’s wrong?”
Mo Li took her arm and said worriedly, “Director Lu is calling you over.”
“Oh…” Shi Qin’s face showed no change, just slowly putting down her script.
“No… it’s not your scene now. Why is he calling you over? I just saw him in his dressing room, and he was alone.”
Shi Qin said nonchalantly, “Maybe it’s to discuss the plot, or something else. What’s there to be afraid of?”
She smiled and patted Mo Li’s little cheek. “It’s broad daylight, and we’re in a society with laws. What can he do?”
Mo Li had seen a lot online these past few days about Lu Xing harassing actresses. At this moment, she still stammered, “But…”
“Aiya, if you’re really worried about me, just stand guard outside the door. The moment I call, you rush in. Okay?”
No matter how much of a beast Lu Xing is, he can’t do anything to his own daughter, right?
With a laugh, and a few more jokes with Mo Li, Shi Qin finally went to Lu Xing’s dressing room.
It was currently the crew’s lunch break. Most of the staff were resting, and there was no one around the dressing room.
When Shi Qin entered, it was indeed just Lu Xing inside.
Lu Xing was sitting on a chair, deep in thought. It wasn’t until he saw her that he came back to his senses.
He changed from his usual sternness on set and smiled warmly. “Xiao Shi, you’re here.”
Shi Qin sat down opposite him and asked, “What is it, Director? Is there something you need?”
Lu Xing looked into her eyes. They were really carved from the same mold as Ye Qingnan’s.
This is his child. This is his, Lu Xing’s, child.
Lu Xing’s possessiveness was so strong it was almost perverted. Whatever belonged to him had to be held firmly, whether it was an object or a person.
He was silent for another long moment before he said seriously to Shi Qin, “Xiao Shi, I asked you here mainly for a private matter.”
“What is it?”
Lu Xing sighed softly. “I told you before that I don’t have a daughter. But actually, you might not know, I do have a daughter. It’s just that for so many years, for some reason, I haven’t been able to be by her side to take care of her.”
“In the past few years, I’ve also been trying to find her, but no matter what I did, there was no news of her.”
Shi Qin’s face was impassive. She suppressed the urge to vomit and curled her lips coldly. “What are you telling me this for, Director Lu?”
Lu Xing looked at her deeply, sighed again, and then silently took out a piece of paper from a file on the side and handed it to her.
“I’m very sorry. I hid it from you and used a certain method to get a test done without permission.”
“But that was also because I was too anxious. Can you understand me?”
“That day when we were filming the pool scene, you had a birthmark on your lower back, exactly the same as my daughter’s. Do you know how excited I was at that time?”
Lu Xing said, seemingly moved, “I know you might hate me, resent me, for what happened back then. It’s fine. But you can’t change our relationship. This is a fact.”
“I know it’s also very difficult for you to accept me all at once. After all, for so many years, I wasn’t by your side. But it’s not too late now. Can’t you just give me a chance?”
“There are many ways I can compensate you. As long as you’re willing, I can be your biggest connection in this industry. Whatever you want, I can help you get.”
By the end, Lu Xing seemed to have moved himself. The wrinkled corners of his eyes even welled up with tears.
“Qinqin, think about it carefully, okay?”
His face was flushed with emotion, and even the corners of his mouth were trembling slightly. He looked at Shi Qin, as if he were also looking at the Ye Qingnan of the past.
But this was not a plea, but rather a possessive mentality at play.
He stared at Shi Qin’s face, desperately hoping to see a trace of emotion on it.
