Chapter 14
Ye Qingyu’s test results came back quickly. The doctor said it was nothing serious, most likely a temporary faint caused by shock.
Only then did everyone relax, and they began the process of transferring the human to a VIP ward to rest.
When the staff member saw the large group approaching again, boisterous and in a flurry, her pupils constricted, and she couldn’t help but lean back.
After the admission procedures were completed normally, a colleague next to her watched Pei Rong’s departing figure and whispered gossip:
“Is that gorgeous woman the BDSM lady you were talking about?”
“Yep.”
…
“So, what exactly happened?”
In the VIP ward, Pei Rong sat by the hospital bed, slowly crossing her arms. Her peach blossom eyes seemed a little deep. “How did she get scared?”
The black panther, such a large beast, was now huddled in a corner. Her jade-green eyes flickered as she lowered her head to lick her paw, concealing her embarrassment, just like a large feline that had accidentally caused trouble while playing.
The small, beige, fluffy bird flew to the hospital window, pretending not to know anyone, and hopped around randomly.
“Jiu-jiu.”
She chirped in a strained voice, as if, although she happened to have the same fur color as Nian Qiu, she was actually just an ordinary, unremarkable little bird that couldn’t transform and was just innocently passing by.
Looking at these two, Pei Rong nonchalantly raised an eyebrow, her red lips curling slightly.
“Close the door, release the pelican.”
Shui Zhu, standing by the ward door, reached out a hand and locked it.
In the next second, Gu Yue transformed into a pelican. Her large, righteous pink beak opened, clamped onto the little bird still hopping on the windowsill, and flung it toward the corner.
The punished little bird chirped and struggled, tumbling and landing right on top of the black panther’s head.
“I’ll confess, I’ll confess,” she said, shaking her messy feathers.
After hearing the detailed account of the crime scene, Pei Rong’s brow twitched. “I held you by the wings and warned you repeatedly that Ye Qingyu is terrified of birds. Do not transform into your original form in front of her.”
Nian Qiu muttered guiltily, “I didn’t know she would be that scared. I just wanted to tease her a little.”
She hadn’t even realized she was the one who had scared Ye Qingyu into fainting until she heard what the doctor said.
…
Just as the small animal court was passing judgment, Ye Qingyu’s eyelashes fluttered.
Her consciousness hazy, her eyes slowly opened a crack. Light gradually filtered in—
She vaguely saw, right by her bed, a pelican with its large pink beak open, clamping a small, beige, fluffy bird…
Amidst the noisy chirping, a single beige feather floated down from the air and landed gently on the tip of her nose.
Ye Qingyu’s heart stopped.
I really… don’t want to faint again…
This was the thought in her mind before she lost consciousness for the third time.
…
The doctor came to the ward to check on her, looking a little puzzled. “Fainting from shock usually only lasts three to five minutes, half an hour at most. It’s strange that she still hasn’t woken up, and she’s starting to run a fever.”
The patient’s vital signs were clearly all normal. There was no infection, nor any heart or brain issues.
Pei Rong’s heart trembled at the words. She reached a hand under the covers and touched the human’s warm fingers.
Her fingertips moved inward, affectionately stroking between her fingers.
She could stop caring whether Ye Qingyu’s hands would be useful in the future or not, as long as she could wake up safe and sound.
“She will wake up, right?” she asked the doctor.
“It shouldn’t be a problem.”
The doctor seemed to want to say more, but in the end, she only gave a veiled reminder. “Based on the test results, her coma and fever don’t seem to be pathological. We are considering psychological reasons more—for example, long-term exposure to highly impactful… treatment. I hope the family will consider this for the patient’s health.”
She had overheard some gossip in the break room just now. It was said that the patient in this ward had ended up in the hospital due to BDSM activities.
Although this was the patient’s private matter, for a young person to be so reckless as to end up in a hospital bed… As a doctor, she couldn’t help but offer a small reminder, lest it lead to a greater disaster in the future.
When these words reached Pei Rong’s ears, their meaning became: don’t let Ye Qingyu come into contact with birds.
Therefore, she nodded seriously. “Understood. Thank you, doctor.”
The doctor sighed, hoping they would truly take it as a warning.
It was noon, and Ye Qingyu was still on an IV drip.
Pei Rong looked at the hungry, drooping, fluffy creatures and said, “You all go back and eat. It’s enough for me to stay and accompany her. Little Luo will bring some food over later.”
No one wanted to leave, especially the bird and the panther, who considered themselves the main culprits.
Pei Rong ruffled the dispirited fluffball. “If all of us faint from hunger here, who will take care of Ye Qingyu then?”
Only then did everyone slowly leave.
The ward door clicked shut.
Pei Rong got up and carefully locked the door from the inside.
In the next second, she transformed into her original form.
Pei the Red Panda leaped lightly and nestled herself beside the human.
Her paw pad gently caressed Ye Qingyu’s face, then touched her closed eyes.
If seeing a scary little bird makes her faint, will seeing her most beloved red panda make her wake up?
Pei the Red Panda’s large ears twitched as she watched her human with great worry.
…
Ye Qingyu had a bizarre, fragmented dream.
She couldn’t see any clear images, only chaotic silhouettes. It vaguely seemed as if a vicious bird was trying to snatch some treasure from her.
“Don’t…”
Her younger self held the treasure tightly in her arms, turning her back to shield it, willingly taking the large bird’s fierce pecks on her own back.
Pain spread through her flesh and bones. She was pecked until she stumbled, yet she refused to let go.
But the size and number of the large birds were far more than her small self could handle alone.
Gradually, she became covered in wounds, her strength fading, until she could no longer hold the treasure in her arms steady.
What happened in the end?
In the end, it seemed she fell to the ground in a disheveled heap, her arms empty, with only the sound of chaotic footsteps in the distance.
“No—” she cried out in her dream.
…
The human suddenly gasped heavily, her breathing becoming rapid. Tears seeped from the corners of her closed eyes, and her lips trembled, faintly murmuring, “Don’t…”
Pei the Red Panda froze.
She saw the human’s hands move restlessly, as if searching for something.
Pei the Red Panda tilted her head and tentatively placed her furry paw into Ye Qingyu’s feverishly warm palm.
As if she had found what she was looking for, Ye Qingyu immediately gripped it tightly.
Still in a feverish sleep, she suddenly found strength from somewhere, and using her grip on the paw, she pulled the entire red panda into her arms.
Like a lost treasure finally recovered, she hugged it tightly, silent tears rolling down her face, gradually soaking the red panda’s reddish-brown fur.
Pei the Red Panda could feel the intense emotion in the human’s grip, and she could also feel her fur getting wet.
Ye Qingyu is crying and using me as a tissue. I’m going to have to spend half the day licking my fur later.
Pei the Red Panda thought this with a sulky anger, but her body was very cooperative, letting Ye Qingyu hug her tightly.
Feeling the human’s body tremble slightly, her heart softened again. Forget it. I’ll grant this to the human. Who told her to have such a pitiful nightmare?
Could it be that she dreamed of being pecked by a bird?
She raised a paw, about to soothingly pet her human, but then she felt a hot pressure on the back of her head—
Ye Qingyu pressed her fluffy head down, pulling her into the crook of her neck, hugging her even tighter.
Pei the Red Panda didn’t have time to react. Her paw, following the force, pressed against the human’s fragile neck, its sharp tip scratching out a red mark.
She quickly retracted her paw to avoid injuring the human further.
“Ngh… don’t leave me…” Amidst the chaotic struggle, she heard the human whimper indistinctly again.
Pei the Red Panda froze, feeling her whole heart tremble.
Who on earth is Ye Qingyu dreaming about?
Could it be that she had another master?
Then what does it mean for her to be hugging me, Pei the Red Panda, now!
Pei the Red Panda’s fur stood on end. She unhappily nipped the human’s chin, then wriggled free from the embrace.
She changed back into her human form and stood by the bed. Looking down, she saw that the IV needle in Ye Qingyu’s arm had come out at some point, and blood was trickling from the back of her pale hand.
Her breath hitched. She pressed the call button on the wall.
…
The doctor looked at Pei Rong with a somewhat reproachful gaze.
The moment she entered the room, she saw that the patient on the bed had red-rimmed eyes and tear-streaked lashes. The needle was out of her hand, there was a red mark on her neck, and even a faint bite mark on her chin—the very picture of someone who had been abused.
This beautiful woman with the peach blossom eyes is far too immature.
Her girlfriend is still lying unconscious in a hospital bed. How can her S-side erupt anytime, anywhere?
