Bai Yu was very familiar with that girl’s aura. She was one hundred percent certain that this was the person who had appeared to save Lu Liangting last night. What she couldn’t confirm was whether this girl was one of the game participants.
Those lunatics were capable of anything, just like Lu Liangting’s cousin, who had actively attacked him despite knowing everyone was hiding in the shadows.
For now, the most likely conclusion was that this girl was a game participant.
“You’re saying she’s the one who dealt with the Ghostly Monster on Li Nan?” Zhao Mingyue’s eyes widened after hearing Bai Yu’s brief summary.
Comparisons really were odious. That strange girl seemed to be around her age, yet she could single-handedly handle a Fierce Ghost.
Looking at herself, she couldn’t even handle one, let alone deal with it. She’d be thanking heaven and earth if a Fierce Ghost didn’t deal with her first.
She didn’t necessarily need to be able to take down a Fierce Ghost. She just wanted to be a little bit stronger.
Yeah, just a little bit stronger would be fine.
“Don’t envy her. Your situation is different from hers.”
“Right, my situation is different. It must be because the ghost on Li Nan’s back was just too weak.” Zhao Mingyue propped her chin in her hands, looking thoughtful.
That minor incident passed, and Zhao Mingyue didn’t take Chen Yun’s provocation to heart, nor did she envy how powerful Chen Yun was.
Compared to that, she was more curious about the girl standing at the classroom door, holding a red envelope, staring fixedly at Lu Liangting with a gaze that looked like she wanted to devour him.
Sending a love letter to a guy, with the general content being an invitation to come and “enjoy” her body—even among these lunatics who did anything without psychological burden, this was somewhat hard to accept.
Honestly speaking, she much preferred being the active party rather than the one getting bent over.
And the key point was, the person bending her over was someone she sought out herself. How messed up was that?
After listening to what Rabbit Mask had to say, the few people in the alley thought it over carefully and found it very necessary. If they couldn’t complete the task, they were dead anyway, so they might as well take the initiative. If the lowest-ranked trash like them wanted to beat those top-ranking monsters, they could only seize the initiative.
It was just that they had seriously misunderstood what Rabbit Mask meant by “initiative.”
The bell for the end of class rang right on time. Before the teacher had even left, the long, black-haired girl stood at the classroom door and shouted loudly inside.
“Lu Liangting, you son of a—cough… I have a love letter I want to give you. Come out and get it right now, or else I… or else… just get out here fast!”
The teacher, who had been trying to hold the class for a bit longer, was stunned. The chalk in her hand froze on the blackboard. The students in the class were also dumbfounded, their gazes almost simultaneously gathering on the girl at the door.
The girl’s appearance wasn’t bad; she was even the cute type. Apart from her slightly messy hair, there was nothing particularly strange about her, provided, of course, you ignored what she had just shouted.
Bai Yu couldn’t be sure if Chen Yun was a game participant, but she was certain that this idiot at the door definitely was.
Sometimes, certain game participants were just very easy to spot.
Words that they saw as perfectly normal looked, in the eyes of others, like the ramblings of a brain-dead person.
And the key was, she wasn’t the only one of her kind.
Just as the black-haired girl finished shouting, another girl appeared. Her hands were in her pockets, clearly holding something. When she spotted the black-haired girl, her brows furrowed slightly. Without a single word, they merely exchanged a glance, then with mutual understanding, their faces darkened and they walked together toward the corridor.
Within moments, the faint sounds of a fight could be heard.
At the lectern, the teacher put down the chalk. “We’ll discuss this problem next class. Lu Liangting, go outside and see what’s going on. But the teacher advises you, at your age right now, you should be focusing on your studies.”
Being stared at by the entire class, and with such strange looks at that, Lu Liangting could only helplessly stand up and walk outside.
He swore to God he didn’t know that girl.
Following Zhao Mingyue’s directions, Lu Liangting headed toward the rooftop.
By the time he arrived, those two girls had already vanished without a trace, disappearing in the short span of time it had taken him.
Before he could even take a step, he froze abruptly, suddenly feeling someone gently embrace him from behind. The body was very soft, and judging by the fragrance of hair lingering at the tip of his nose, it had to be a girl.
A strand of jet-black hair fell beside his face. Cherry lips pressed close to Lu Liangting’s ear, the warm breath teasing his earlobe.
“I’ve liked you for a long time. Let me become the one and only in your life.”
As it turned out, there were indeed players with higher skills.
Unfortunately, the price of getting involved with her was something Lu Liangting couldn’t afford.
The “one and only in your life” wasn’t just a romantic line. She meant it literally.
She would kill every woman who tried to get close to Lu Liangting. She would make it so he was the only person left in his world.

“Why does today feel so strange?”
That night, Zhao Mingyue was already sitting in the convenience store, still thinking about what had happened during the day.
Lu Liangting’s expression had been terrible ever since he came back from the rooftop. Someone spotted a lipstick mark on his neck, and another person casually glanced at the love letter he brought back. Inside, it was filled with a single repeated line.
“Become my lover.”
The words alone didn’t seem like much, but seeing half a sheet of A4 paper densely packed, line after line, with this sentence written in red pen—that was somewhat terrifying.
“No need to dwell on it.” Bai Yu’s response remained the same as always.
“Alright, I’ll stop thinking about it.” Zhao Mingyue acknowledged, pulling out her homework notebook.
The convenience store was located in an extremely remote spot. Sometimes, not a single customer would come all night. She had often wondered why the Boss had opened a convenience store here.
But tonight seemed a little different.
By the time Zhao Mingyue had finished her tasks, it was already ten o’clock at night. In another half an hour, she could clock out early.
Stretching lazily, she glanced back at the clock ticking away on the wall, feeling a bit bored.
Resting her cheek on one hand, she stared at the wind chime hanging motionless by the door.
That thing apparently could detect Ghostly Monsters. As far as she remembered, it had barely moved a few times. If anything, hanging it there just made the place feel creepier, like putting a Bagua Mirror in your house; you might not think anything of it at first, but once you saw the mirror, you couldn’t stop mentally implying things to yourself.
“Is it getting foggy?”
Her gaze fell through the window glass. Outside on the empty road, a thin, not very dense fog was drifting about.
And just as Zhao Mingyue was still feeling puzzled, the door to the convenience store was suddenly pushed open from outside.
The copper bell on the door frame chimed with a crisp ring, signaling a customer’s arrival.
But as the door closed and the customer officially stepped inside, the wind chime that normally remained utterly still—impervious even to drafts—suddenly began to sway slightly, emitting two clear, crisp notes.
“Any… anybody there?”
