Chapter 93 p2
Shen Shu was discharged two days later.
Before leaving, Xu Jinnan went to see Professor Qin, asking about her sensitivity and the pheromone blockers.
She had been wondering if Shen Shu knew about them. Knowing Shen Shu, she would have asked if she did.
“I gave you a suppressant during your last episode, but the blood test showed that the pheromone blockers were less effective this time, likely because your Alpha pheromones were fully released for the first time, the surge in hormones too intense,” Professor Qin explained.
In simpler terms, her body had adapted to the blockers, but the sudden, intense release of pheromones during her rut had overwhelmed them.
“What can I do?”
“Can you still smell Miss Shen’s pheromones?”
Xu Jinnan nodded. She had been able to smell them in the fitting room, her senses heightened, as if a barrier had been broken.
“Your case is unusual. I’m worried your body is developing a resistance to the blockers. They might become less effective over time,” he said.
Xu Jinnan was silent, her heart sinking.
“Don’t worry too much, Miss Xu. It’s just a possibility. They’re still effective for now. I’ll adjust the dosage and contact some specialists abroad to see if we can find a permanent solution. But no marking for now. Miss Shen’s scent gland hasn’t fully healed yet,” he added.
Xu Jinnan could only trust his judgment when it came to her sensitivity.
–
While the suppressants prevented her from losing control during a rut, the underlying desire, the constant awareness of Shen Shu’s presence, still lingered.
Especially after their recent intimacy.
And Shen Shu felt the same way.
With her filming schedule, she often didn’t return home until late, their time together limited, each moment precious.
Mindful of Professor Qin’s warning, Xu Jinnan was careful, her touch hesitant, afraid of losing control, avoiding Shen Shu’s scent gland, her kisses light and fleeting.
But even those brief touches were enough to make Shen Shu’s breath hitch, her body tremble, and if Xu Jinnan went any further, Shen Shu’s voice would be hoarse from crying the next day.
She didn’t cry loudly, just soft, whimpering sounds, her arms tightening around Xu Jinnan, her body seeking comfort amidst the pleasure.
Xu Jinnan sometimes thought she was a little twisted, her heart racing at the taste of Shen Shu’s tears, the salty wetness against her lips a strange, intoxicating sensation.
And Shen Shu would encourage her, her fingers digging into Xu Jinnan’s skin, her voice a husky whisper, urging her to be bolder, to not hold back.
But they couldn’t always be together.
With Into the Dream‘s successful premiere, filming for Full Dress was nearing its end.
After a few days of filming on location, Shen Shu was back at Xu Jinnan’s office building today.
Xu Jinnan’s schedule was packed, a meeting in the North District at 11 a.m., followed by the contract signing for the shopping mall at 1 p.m. She had squeezed in a two-hour break to see Shen Shu.
As she stepped into the elevator, she sent Shen Shu a message.
[Shu Shu, I’ll be up soon.]
It was the film crew’s lunch break.
Shen Shu placed the healthy meal Xu Jinnan had ordered for her on the wicker coffee table and replied: [Okay.] She knew the code to Xu Jinnan’s office, and all the other access codes as well.
She sat down in the massage chair, her legs crossed, her fingers tapping on her phone. The windows were one-way, so she could relax without worrying about being seen.
Xu Jinnan, seeing her one-word reply, smiled, finding Shen Shu’s recent terseness endearing.
As Viola followed her out of the elevator, Xu Jinnan turned to her. “Don’t disturb me for anything, no matter what,” she said.
Viola nodded. “Certainly.”
Xu Jinnan strode towards her office.
Viola, taking a work call, followed a few steps behind, then, after hanging up, bumped into Tong Jia, who was coming out of the pantry.
“Have you eaten yet, Teacher Tong?” Viola asked, stopping.
Tong Jia shook her head, glancing at Xu Jinnan’s retreating figure. “Not yet. Hey, have you noticed CEO Xu has been in a particularly good mood lately?”
Viola, remembering Xu Jinnan’s smile in the elevator, nodded. “She has.”
“Our Shen Shu is also in a good mood,” Tong Jia said, a knowing smile on her face. “That fitting room must have been… eventful.” She immediately regretted her words, her tendency towards suggestive comments resurfacing.
She glanced at Viola, who, her eyes crinkling at the corners, simply said, “You’re so funny.”
Tong Jia, flustered by her unexpected reaction, her face warming slightly, stammered, “I’ll… I’ll go get some lunch then,” and turned to leave.
“I haven’t eaten either. Mind if I join you?” Viola asked.
–
Xu Jinnan entered her office, not having seen Shen Shu in the hallway, and her message was still unread.
She was about to call Shen Shu when she heard a knock at the door.
She looked up to see Shen Shu leaning against the doorframe, wearing a fitted turtleneck sweater and loose-fitting trousers, her figure elegant and relaxed. She looked beautiful.
Xu Jinnan walked over and kissed her softly, her lips brushing against Shen Shu’s.
She loved Shen Shu’s lips, their soft fullness a constant temptation.
As they entered the office, Xu Jinnan kicked the door closed, and Shen Shu felt herself being turned around, her back pressed against the door, Xu Jinnan’s lips finding hers, the kiss gentle yet demanding, her body responding instinctively, the familiar warmth spreading through her.
Xu Jinnan’s kisses were always slow and deliberate, building slowly, and Shen Shu often found herself aroused even before they went any further.
Of course, Xu Jinnan rarely stopped there.
After a moment, Xu Jinnan pulled away, her breathing slightly ragged. “Dinner first?” she murmured.
Shen Shu’s arms tightened around her waist. “No,” she whispered.
“Not hungry?” Xu Jinnan asked, trying to pull away.
Shen Shu let her go, her hand resting on Xu Jinnan’s arm. “I am…” she said, her gaze fixed on Xu Jinnan’s face.
Xu Jinnan: “…Shu Shu, you’re really…”
“What?”
“Such a tease.”
Shen Shu’s fingernails lightly grazed the skin of Xu Jinnan’s neck, a playful yet slightly punishing gesture.
Xu Jinnan winced, then, as she kissed Shen Shu again, her movements were bolder, more assertive, a hint of her Alpha nature surfacing, knowing Shen Shu enjoyed this side of her.
They moved from the doorway to the massage chair, the large windows, despite being one-way, still offering a view of the buildings across the street…
Neither of them was usually this unrestrained, but together, they seemed to shed their inhibitions, their passion a shared secret, their bodies entwined, their breaths mingling.
As if seeking that look in each other’s eyes, the one that said they had lost control.
In those moments, Xu Jinnan would think, If this is the price I have to pay for her, for this connection, I’ll gladly pay it.
Lost in the moment, Shen Shu had encouraged her, her fingers digging into Xu Jinnan’s skin, urging her to bite her, to mark her, even a temporary mark.
But Xu Jinnan hadn’t.
Even temporary marks could affect an Omega’s scent gland.
–
After their moment of passion, they both returned to work.
Xu Jinnan’s schedule was packed, but her good mood made the long hours and endless meetings bearable.
Into the Dream was airing weekly, and with only two episodes released so far, Shen Shu’s schedule was already booked for the next six months.
Tong Jia, worried she might be getting overwhelmed, had limited her engagements to daytime hours, ensuring she had time to rest.
Lately, Shen Shu had been coming home earlier than Xu Jinnan.
And whenever she did, she would always check on her plants first – the pothos, the succulents, and the rosebush, then, after messaging Xu Jinnan to ask when she would be home, she would take a shower.
Now, freshly showered, her hair wrapped in a pink towel, she walked towards the bedroom, the cool autumn air, amplified by the night’s dampness after the rain, sending a shiver down her spine.
She picked up her phone; Xu Jinnan hadn’t replied yet. Then, she saw a message from Cai Ying.
Cai Ying’s father, pleased with the results of her first business trip abroad, had arranged two more, and Cai Ying herself seemed to enjoy them, finding practical experience more valuable than theoretical knowledge.
Cai Ying: [Shu Shu, I miss you! I just finished working and I’m about to go to bed. Crying emoji]
Judging by the time difference, it must be 3 or 4 a.m. in Cai Ying’s time zone. Shen Shu frowned slightly. [It’s so late! Go to sleep!]
Cai Ying: [Okay, okay. I just missed you and wanted to say good night.]
Cai Ying: [Good night~]
Shen Shu was typing “Good night” when another message from Cai Ying popped up. [Oh, right, I forgot to ask, did you read the gift I sent you?]
Shen Shu stared at the message, then replied after a moment: […Yes.]
The book Cai Ying had given her, The Domineering CEO’s Captivity Diary, was, as the title suggested, not exactly… appropriate for all audiences.
It was quite explicit…
Cai Ying: [!! Well?!]
Shen Shu: [Well, what? Where did you even learn about these things…?]
Cai Ying: [Come on, we’re both adults! These things don’t require… formal education! Did you try any of them?]
Cai Ying: [I need your honest feedback!]
Shen Shu: […]
She had rarely discussed such things with Cai Ying before getting married, but since then, and especially after meeting Tong Jia, Cai Ying had become more… open about such topics.
Shen Shu’s fingers hovered over the keyboard. She had read a couple of pages, and a few… scenes had come to mind. Could she actually try any of them?
Tie Xu Jinnan to a chair? Or handcuff her to the bed?
The thought, combined with the image of Xu Jinnan in those… compromising positions, made her blush.
–
Xu Jinnan arrived home a little after 10 p.m., the apartment quiet, only the living room lights on.
She put down her bag, changed her shoes, and glanced at Shen Shu’s closed bedroom door.
Usually, Shen Shu would leave the door open when she was waiting for her. This was strange.
As she opened the door, Shen Shu, startled, quickly closed the book she had been reading.
Xu Jinnan paused, her gaze lingering on the book, then moving upwards to Shen Shu’s flushed face, her eyebrows raising slightly. “What are you reading? Why so secretive?” she asked, a playful smile on her lips.
