Chapter 21: Lifesaver
This thrilling scene was a true test of a normal person’s heart, because Yier Meng had managed to stop a rampaging warhorse with a mere gesture.
A short while passed. The knight-girl knew the horse had stopped, yet she hadn’t heard a single scream from any of the three people. This made her squeeze her eyes open just a crack.
“You’re… you’re all okay… Thank goodness…” a shaken voice called down from atop the horse.
It was only then that Yier Meng looked up from the horse to the rider. The disheveled girl had very cute, long pink hair, and her slightly open pink eyes revealed a heart-wrenching panic. If one looked closely, one could even see a few glistening teardrops on her long, trembling eyelashes, sparkling in the sunlight.
“Um, thank you all. I… I can’t seem to get off the horse. Could you help me, please… student?”
At such a close distance, Yier Meng’s first impression of the girl was that she was incredibly cute. That exquisite doll-like face, paired with the rare pink hair color, was cute to the point of being explosive.
“Oh, that’s no problem.”
Yier Meng would naturally not refuse a request from a beautiful girl of this caliber. She stepped forward slightly, intending to support the girl on the horse and half-carry, half-embrace her down.
However, just as Yier Meng touched the girl’s fair, soft hand and saw her delicate little face flush red with shame and nervousness, she couldn’t help but freeze for a moment.
And in that brief moment of distraction, her hand was frozen solid.
“Pervert!” came the blunt, impolite tone.
It turned out the ice dragon princess couldn’t stand the sight of Yier Meng’s lecherous expression and had used her ice magic. However, the only hand she froze was Yier Meng’s.
“I… I’ll help you.”
Giving her teacher an apologetic smile, Elise stepped in to smooth things over. This made Yier Meng sigh internally; even if they were both still angry, when a dragon and an elf were together, the dragon’s temper was clearly much worse than the elf’s.
“Student Wendymia, please take my hand first.”
Her soft, flame-red hair swayed gently. Not forgetting to use dispel magic to remove the ice from her teacher’s hand, Elise also remembered to help the girl down. Her gentle attitude, and the occasional scent of her hair that wafted past Yier Meng’s nose on the breeze, made Yier Meng’s heart feel a little ticklish.
“Mm, thank you, student Elise.”
The pink-haired girl nodded. Even her exquisite school uniform seemed to have taken on a faint pink hue from her shyness. She took the equally soft hand that Elise offered, rose to her feet with her support, steadied her somewhat wobbly center of gravity, and dismounted from the horse.
“Um, thank you too… student.”
Having safely gotten off the horse, Wendymia didn’t forget to thank Yier Meng, who was standing right beside her. In her heart, Yier Meng was absolutely her lifesaver. Amidst her panic, she had heard the soft, white-haired girl gently utter the word “stop” from between her pink, parting lips.
Although she didn’t know why student Eirya had attacked this other student, from a distance, it looked like some sort of dispute had occurred between them. Then, student Eirya had probably gotten angry because Yier Meng was ignoring her.
“Um, student Wendymia, I’ve been meaning to tell you, you’ve got it wrong. She’s our teacher,” Elise interjected at that moment.
After all, the incident was over now, and she felt it was improper for Wendymia to continue addressing their teacher incorrectly. But of course, one who acts in ignorance is not at fault, so Elise wanted to correct her if she could.
