Chapter 72: Are You Sober?

In the Capital City, Jiang Chenbi sat in a private room of the teahouse, her expression indifferent as she poured herself a cup of tea.

After three cups, there was finally some movement outside the door.

Ying Lan pursed her lips, her face somewhat unsightly as she walked in from outside. Jiang Chenbi glanced at her and knew immediately that they hadn’t caught He Yin.

Ying Lan silently walked to Jiang Chenbi’s side and knelt down, lowering her head. “This subordinate failed in her duty. Please punish me, Palace Lord.”

Jiang Chenbi looked down at her, the corners of her lips suddenly curving into a smile. She said with a grin, “Little Ying Lan, if He Yin were that easy to catch, I wouldn’t have sent you after her.”

Ying Lan looked up at her, somewhat puzzled. “Then why did Palace Lord still send me to chase He Yin?”

Jiang Chenbi narrowed her eyes slightly and hooked her lips. “Just to give her some trouble.”

Ying Lan nodded as if she understood but didn’t quite, though she didn’t grasp Jiang Chenbi’s intentions. The Palace Lord’s orders were like a heavenly decree; she just needed to carry them out.

Jiang Chenbi glanced at her and said indifferently, “Get up. Why are you kneeling? Did you bring the person I wanted?”

Ying Lan rose from the ground, her expression somewhat unnatural. “I brought her.”

With that, she blew the bone whistle at her neck. A woman with a graceful, alluring figure walked in from the doorway, every movement exuding charm.

Liu Yao swayed her hips as she walked to Jiang Chenbi’s side, lowering her head and covering her mouth with a light laugh. “Liu Yao pays her respects to the Palace Lord.”

Jiang Chenbi’s deep gaze fell on her, scrutinizing her closely before hooking her lips. “You’ve improved quite a bit. Let me see how skilled you’ve become.”

Liu Yao nodded slightly. When she lifted her eyes again, they were filled with seductive allure and a hint of grievance. She stepped forward to pour Jiang Chenbi a cup of tea, saying softly, “Palace Lord, this servant pours tea for you.”

Jiang Chenbi reached out and took the cup, bringing it to her lips. Suddenly, she changed the direction of her wrist and splashed the tea directly onto Liu Yao’s face. Looking at her, she said displeased, “This tea is too hot. Didn’t your master teach you how to serve properly?”

Liu Yao’s face was splashed with tea, her makeup smudged. She lowered her lashes, looking pitiable.

She took out a handkerchief to wipe the makeup from her face, revealing a fair and tender little face. Kneeling gently on the ground, Liu Yao reached out and touched the tip of Jiang Chenbi’s shoe.

Tears welled in her eyes as she said softly, “My former master didn’t favor this servant. These manners were all self-taught. I’ve offended you, Palace Lord.”

Jiang Chenbi looked down at her coldly and let out a cold laugh. “It seems your master didn’t teach you not to touch your master’s body lightly either.”

Jiang Chenbi moved her shoe tip away and lifted Liu Yao’s chin, her pitch-black pupils staring into the emotions in Liu Yao’s eyes.

Vulnerability flickered in Liu Yao’s eyes, as if wounded by Jiang Chenbi’s words. The tears pooled in her sockets finally fell, one after another like strung pearls, yet she stubbornly looked at Jiang Chenbi.

Jiang Chenbi frowned and pinched Liu Yao’s chin. Seeing this, Liu Yao shifted her knees, inching forward until she reached Jiang Chenbi’s legs. Liu Yao tugged at the corners of her lips with a genuine smile. “This servant is willing to serve the Palace Lord.”

With that, she tentatively rested her head on Jiang Chenbi’s lap. Jiang Chenbi looked down but did not refuse her action.

After a moment, Jiang Chenbi furrowed her brows slightly, about to comment, “You’ve improved a lot from before, but—”

“Ahem—”

Jiang Chenbi’s unfinished words were interrupted by Ying Lan’s sudden cough. Jiang Chenbi frowned and looked toward Ying Lan, only to see her pale-faced and tense, gesturing for her to look toward the door.

Jiang Chenbi raised her eyes and saw that figure leaning against the doorframe. She froze.

She didn’t know when Cui Wangshu had arrived or how long she had been standing there, motionless, staring at her with no expression on her face. But anyone could sense the suppressed emotions radiating from her.

Those black eyes stared fixedly at Jiang Chenbi. Even in broad daylight, there was no light in her pupils—just a chilling, eerie gaze.

Liu Yao also sensed the off atmosphere and moved away from Jiang Chenbi’s lap, putting some distance between them.

Cui Wangshu’s eyes narrowed slightly. She straightened up and walked toward Jiang Chenbi step by step, the atmosphere in the private room turning deathly quiet.

She stopped in front of Jiang Chenbi, her pupils shifting slightly downward to stare at Liu Yao on the ground. Liu Yao felt a chill in her heart from that single glance but didn’t dare rise without Jiang Chenbi’s command.

Jiang Chenbi held her breath, steadying her voice to feign calm. “Everyone out.”

Liu Yao didn’t dare delay. Though she didn’t know the relationship between this woman and the Palace Lord, the tangible killing intent directed at her was real. She immediately stood, bowed, and fled in disarray.

Though Ying Lan was also afraid of Cui Wangshu, she worried about Jiang Chenbi. Jiang Chenbi rubbed her forehead, her voice somewhat strained. “You go out too.”

Ying Lan bit her lip and retreated.

With everyone gone, only Jiang Chenbi and Cui Wangshu remained in the room. Jiang Chenbi didn’t dare meet her gaze, lowering her eyes as she pondered how Cui Wangshu had gotten here and what she had seen…

If she had seen everything…

Jiang Chenbi closed her eyes, instinctively wanting to escape that sticky gaze. Steel herself, she met Cui Wangshu’s eyes and was startled.

The emotions in Cui Wangshu’s black eyes were deep and complex, suppressing jealous flames. She spoke as calmly as she could. “Care to explain?”

Jiang Chenbi stood and took a step toward her. Cui Wangshu stood still, her gaze fixed on her movements.

Her throat bobbed as Jiang Chenbi licked her dry lips and explained, “I was just checking her training results.”

As soon as she said it, Jiang Chenbi felt it would anger the person before her, but it was the truth—she really had only been inspecting Liu Yao’s training.

Sure enough—

Cui Wangshu let out a scoff, looking at Jiang Chenbi’s beautiful face. She ground her back teeth, raised her hand, and let her fingertip trace over Jiang Chenbi’s brows and eyes, trailing downward to her lips.

Meeting her gaze, Jiang Chenbi felt a pang of guilt and hurriedly explained, “Really, I’m not lying to you. Everyone on missions has to go through training, and acting is just one part of it…”

Cui Wangshu’s gaze darkened, catching the guilt in her eyes. The jealousy she’d suppressed surged to the forefront.

“Why…” Cui Wangshu stared at Jiang Chenbi and murmured.

Was it because she hadn’t done well enough, or because she couldn’t satisfy Jiang Chenbi somewhere, that she had to seek others?

Hadn’t they just gotten married, promising to love only each other for life, unchanging through lifetimes?

Why were there always so many women of all kinds around her, kneeling at her feet, begging for her mercy, her affection?

Was it because she loved Jiang Chenbi too much, indulged her too much, that she thought she was someone with a good temper?

Maybe she should lock Jiang Chenbi up so she’d behave…

Jiang Chenbi saw the near-obsessive emotion in Cui Wangshu’s eyes and knew her inner demons had flared; she was fully immersed in her feelings. Instinctively, she took a step back.

Cui Wangshu’s hand missed, still in the previous position. She silently raised her eyes to look at Jiang Chenbi.

Realizing what she’d done, Jiang Chenbi regretted it. Just as she opened her mouth to explain, the world spun, and she was hoisted onto Cui Wangshu’s shoulder.

Cui Wangshu threw Jiang Chenbi onto the bed and pressed down on her.

The woman’s kisses were chaotic, purely for venting. Jiang Chenbi felt pain from the bites, anger surging in her heart. She hadn’t done anything wrong, and Cui Wangshu wouldn’t even listen to her explanation.

This aggressive manner… who had taught her that?

Jiang Chenbi’s feet pushed against the bed as she retreated, dodging Cui Wangshu’s descending kisses. Disappointment flashed in her eyes as she slapped her across the face, asking coldly, “Are you sober now?”

Jiang Chenbi straightened her disheveled clothes and sat up, refusing to look at her.

Cui Wangshu turned her face to the side, her expression hidden behind her messy hair, motionless.

The atmosphere hit rock bottom.

Cui Wangshu’s lashes trembled lightly. Her vacant gaze gradually focused, her fingers by her side curling slightly. Her voice was hoarse and suppressed as she spoke. “I’m sober.”

She suddenly turned her head, staring fixedly at Jiang Chenbi, a wicked curve at her lips. “You want gentleness, don’t you?”

With that, she reached up to draw the curtains on both sides. Her hand moved to her sash, tugging it lightly. The sash fell to the bed. She reached out and pulled the fleeing Jiang Chenbi back into her arms.

She bit the woman’s earlobe. Jiang Chenbi’s body went soft, unable to hold back a soft hum.

Cui Wangshu knew every sensitive spot on her body. If she wanted, Jiang Chenbi’s desire ignited in an instant.

Jiang Chenbi hadn’t forgotten where they were—right outside were Ying Lan and Liu Yao. She bit her lower lip hard, swallowing all sounds.

Cui Wangshu held her from behind, her palm sliding upward to lightly grip her neck, pressing her back. Their bodies pressed tightly together, Jiang Chenbi’s head resting on her shoulder.

She fed it into her mouth. Tears overflowed from the corners of Jiang Chenbi’s eyes, her voice uncontrollable. Cui Wangshu chuckled lowly in her ear, wickedly biting her collarbone. Jiang Chenbi spasmed, stiffening in her arms.

Her actions were indeed gentle, but merciless, as if determined for those outside to hear the sounds from the room and know the nature of their relationship.

Jiang Chenbi couldn’t recover, struggling to push away, but was held even tighter. Cui Wangshu pressed a spot, and Jiang Chenbi didn’t dare move.

“I’ve said it before—you can bite me, hit me if you can’t take it, but you can’t push me away. Have you forgotten?” The woman’s gentle voice now sounded chillingly cold in Jiang Chenbi’s ears.

Like a drowning person finally taking a big breath, Jiang Chenbi shuddered and pushed her away slightly. She lowered her head and bit Cui Wangshu’s collarbone, blood trickling between her teeth.

Cui Wangshu let out a muffled grunt, excitement flickering in her pitch-black eyes. She slowed down, waiting for Jiang Chenbi to calm before laying her flat on the bed, staring intently at her gradually clearing gaze.

Seeing her look at her, she deliberately licked the glistening fluid from her fingertip in front of her.

Jiang Chenbi gasped, her ear tips turning red from the wicked action. Cui Wangshu took her fingertip into her mouth and swallowed every trace.

She leaned down, hoisting Jiang Chenbi’s leg over her shoulder, leaned in to kiss her, dyeing the taste onto her tongue. Jiang Chenbi turned her head to struggle, but her cheeks were gripped tightly, unable to move.

Outside the door, Ying Lan pursed her lips, her expression unnatural as she averted her gaze. She closed her eyes in despair, the sounds of her revered Palace Lord filling her ears.

Though she’d always known the Palace Lord was probably… she had clung to a sliver of hope. Today, Cui Wangshu’s cruelty in making her hear it was like a death sentence.

Her Palace Lord was truly the one on the bottom…

Liu Yao glanced at Ying Lan’s red ear tips and couldn’t help but chuckle inwardly. Little kid.

She’d been shocked at first by the sounds from inside but quickly pieced it together, recalling Cui Wangshu’s aloof, ethereal face. She couldn’t help but click her tongue.

As expected of the Palace Lord.

Even someone like a celestial fairy would show such jealous expressions, falling from grace into desire.
