Chapter 90
Where did she smell good?
Li An had no answer. She couldn’t very well say that the other person smelled like a butter cookie and it was making her hungry.
She could only force herself not to retreat. Her azure eyes, wet with water, looked even more innocent. Water dripped from her pink hair, a silent response.
Anoska didn’t press the issue. She raised a hand and pressed down on Li An’s knee, rubbing it as she asked, “Did you hurt yourself when you fell?”
Actually, she hadn’t. The other person had pulled her back in time, before she even hit the bottom of the pool. And, perhaps due to her succubus constitution, Li An hadn’t even choked on water, nor did she feel any other discomfort.
At this thought, Li An quickly let out a few fake coughs, the area around her eyes turning redder as she feigned great discomfort.
It was a bit of a delayed reaction, but thankfully, Anoska didn’t expose her.
She seemed to smile, the expression fleeting, and then it turned into a hint of concern as she played along. “Is it that bad?”
She immediately added, “I’m sorry.”
Before Li An could answer, she continued, “I’ll be more careful next time.”
Li An didn’t know how to respond. She was only pretending, and now Anoska’s attitude was so sincere that she could only nod dumbly.
One, she wanted to get this over with quickly.
Two, she really didn’t know how to respond. According to their current identities, Anoska was the master and she was the servant. How could a master apologize to a servant? Not to mention, Anoska was still rubbing her knee.
Li An couldn’t help but shrink back.
But she was currently straddling Anoska, the insides of her thighs pressed tightly against the other’s legs. To retreat would inevitably cause friction, and she could feel the slightly warm skin, belatedly remembering that Anoska was currently naked.
Li An froze again, her entire body growing even stiffer. She tried her best to keep her gaze upward, looking at the oil painting of the Holy Spirit’s descent on the ceiling.
A person with a dirty mind sees everything in a dirty light.
She couldn’t help but mutter to herself, wondering what genius had thought of painting something like this above a bath. Was it meant to be arousing or a warning?
The hand on her knee continued its ministrations, accompanied by Anoska’s words.
“What’s your name?”
Li An was taken aback and quickly reined in her wandering thoughts. “Li An,” she replied hastily.
“Lian?” Anoska tilted her head, her silver hair cascading down like satin.
“No, it’s Li An,” she corrected, but a flicker of doubt crossed her mind. She had a feeling that the other person was deliberately pretending to have misheard. After all, her speech wasn’t fast, and they were so close.
“Li An,” the other person repeated, mimicking Li An’s serious expression, like a diligent student. This made Li An completely dismiss her earlier suspicion.
“That’s a very special name,” Anoska praised, even repeating it once more. “Li An.”
“Li An.”
This felt a little strange. After all, Li An was no longer a kindergartener, nor did she think her name was anything special. She wouldn’t be thrilled by a casual compliment.
She felt a little uncomfortable, because of Anoska’s strange seriousness, and because Anoska’s hand was still gently rubbing her knee.
Her legs unconsciously squeezed together, pressing even closer to the other person, eliminating the last remaining gap between them.
“My name is Anoska,” the other person said, taking the initiative.
“Anoska.”
Perhaps it was the other person’s previous actions that made Li An subconsciously repeat it. As soon as the words left her mouth, she realized and quickly added, “I know, Your Excellency the Saintess.”
Anoska smiled. Because of her eye color, she always looked a little too distant when her expression was blank, making people want to avoid her gaze. But when her emotions fluctuated, her golden eyes would shimmer, like gems filled with molten gold, beautiful to an extreme.
Li An was stunned for a moment. She didn’t notice the reflection in the water, where her unconcealable triangular ears flashed for a moment before quickly disappearing.
Anoska didn’t point it out, pretending not to have seen. She only said, “You can call me by my name.”
That was absolutely not an option.
Li An was instantly jolted and quickly cried out, “Your Excellency the Saintess.”
The other person corrected her, “It’s Anoska.”
Li An quickly shook her head, repeating, “Your Excellency the Saintess.”
She had disobeyed twice in a row. Although they were close, her body was unconsciously retreating. Even her thighs, pressed together, were tense and rigid, deliberately creating distance while silently resisting.
Anoska lowered her eyes and then looked up, smiling at Li An. “You mispronounced it just now.”
Before Li An could ask, she said, “It’s Anoska, not Asnoka.”
Did I mispronounce it?
Li An’s mind was a blank. She had no memory of it and didn’t think Anoska would lie about something like this. She immediately apologized, “I’m sorry, Your Excellency the Saintess.”
To show her sincerity, she even repeated it seriously, “Anoska.”
The hand on her knee moved up a little, then was pressed down with restraint.
“No, it’s Anoska,” the other person said with a helpless smile, as if looking at a child learning to speak.
“Come, repeat after me.”
She said very seriously, word by word, “A-no-ska.”
Li An was a little confused. She stared at the overly holy and beautiful face in front of her, which didn’t look like it could lie. She then recalled the person’s fair judgment in the afternoon and couldn’t bring herself to doubt her.
Could it be that I just transmigrated and am not yet familiar with the language here?
But don’t these quick transmigration systems automatically input the language system into the brain?
Could it be that I’m just new to it and not yet proficient?
Li An pursed her lips and obediently repeated, “Anoska.”
“A little off,” the other person corrected again. “It’s Anoska.”
She even said with great patience, “Slower, there’s no need to rush.”
Seeing this, the last bit of doubt in Li An’s heart completely disappeared, replaced by full trust. She immediately mimicked the other’s tone and repeated it word by word.
“Mm, much better than before. A little slower,” she demonstrated again.
“Anoska,” Li An repeated. Water droplets were still falling from her wet hair, landing among the floating rose petals.
“Very good. That’s right this time.”
As a sign of praise, Anoska even patted Li An’s head. A moment later, her hand fell back down to the other’s thigh.
“Let’s practice one more time, shall we?” Anoska was like a serious and responsible teacher.
Li An had no reason to refuse. Mispronouncing someone’s name was already embarrassing. Fortunately, the other person didn’t mind and was patiently correcting her. She immediately repeated it once more, “Anoska.”
“Good girl,” Anoska praised immediately, adding, “Very good.”
For some reason, Li An was reminded of a master training a puppy to shake hands, repeating it over and over, praising it each time.
How strange…
Li An tilted her head slightly and leaned back.
But the other person raised a hand first, wrapping it around Li An’s waist and pulling her forward.
The distance that had been quietly created was pulled back, even closer than before. The atmosphere became tense again.
Li An’s breath hitched, then suddenly quickened.
“Your Excellency… Your Excellency the Saintess,” she said with a trembling voice, at a loss. She wanted to retreat but was held firmly in place.
“Don’t move,” Anoska said, her eyes darkening slightly.
The pool was steaming, but Li An felt cold, not even as warm as her own body temperature. The places where they were touching were constantly heating up, and a fine sweat that shouldn’t have been there appeared.
This is killing me.
The hand on her lower back was like an iron wall, not moving an inch.
Even though there was still fabric between them, she could still feel the other’s prominent knuckles and calloused fingertips, filling the dimple of her left waist and pressing inward.
And this was the same hand that, half an hour ago, had held the scales of good and evil, presiding over a so-called just judgment.
Li An’s gaze shifted, and she happened to see the intricate and beautiful camellia tiles on the floor. Her thoughts wandered for a moment before being brought back by the tightening fingers.
“What are you looking at?”
A pair of eyes as brilliant as molten gold at sunset now reflected the image of a succubus.
Two beings from different factions, who should have been complete enemies, were now so intimately connected.
Li An felt an inexplicable sense of absurdity.
She said with a trembling voice, “Anoska.”
In her helpless state, the previous repeated training had become an instinct, and she had called out a name she wouldn’t have dared to before.
But Anoska didn’t let go. She only said, “You are my person now.”
She paused for a moment, then added, “Attendant.”
Li An nodded, half-understanding.
“Li An,” her eyes never wavered, silently watching the other person.
“From now on, you are my person.”
She repeated it once more, as if for emphasis, or like some kind of vow.
Li An’s thin lips moved, and she only dared to add in a mumble, “Attendant.”
This time, Anoska didn’t repeat herself. She only said, “Get clean.”
“Huh?” Li An said, still dazed, her small canine tooth biting her lip, making it particularly noticeable.
Anoska smiled. A floating petal bumped into her, sticking to her fair skin, refusing to leave.
She said in a coaxing tone, “Little dirty dog, hurry up and wash off the outside smell. You’re my person now.”
Attendant.
Li An silently added in her heart, and then it dawned on her. Was that what Anoska meant?
The hand on her lower back tugged at her robe, wanting to take it off.
Li An was like a startled bird. She clutched her collar in fright and looked at the other person in a panic.
Anoska didn’t get angry. She just gave her a silent look, and then the hand on her lower back loosened, as if giving permission.
Li An immediately scrambled up and hid on the other side. The movement caused her hair to sway, revealing an ear as red as blood.
On the other side, the sound of splashing water started again. Li An quickly glanced over and saw the other person get up and turn her head away. She didn’t dare to look anymore.
But the person on the other side had no such qualms. She gave her a long look before turning around, leaving only two sentences behind, “Wash up, little dog.”
“Someone will come to get you later.”
The sound of footsteps grew more and more distant, accompanied by the rustling of clothes, and then it was completely quiet.
Li An leaned against the wall of the pool, her stiff back pressed against the hard stone. Her chest heaved as she inhaled and exhaled, trying to calm down, but the previous scene kept flashing before her eyes.
What on earth was Anoska saying?!
What was she implying?!
Her heart was pounding like a drum, making her ears ring.
After an unknown amount of time, Li An finally calmed down a little. She looked down and saw her reflection in the water. Her ears and tail had emerged and were swaying gently with the ripples.
Li An took a deep breath. The smell of butter cookies hadn’t dissipated; it was even stronger than before.
It smells so good.
But…
So scary.
Li An closed her eyes, her breathing growing heavier.
A moment later, the sound of splashing water finally started.
Outside the door, the person who had been waiting moved. Her eyelids drooped, hiding the obscure emotions within.
At the same time, a gust of wind blew, lifting her loose robe. Thorns that had appeared out of nowhere wrapped around her waist and up, piercing her skin and drawing thick beads of blood.
But Anoska’s expression didn’t change, as if she was already used to such punishment. She continued to walk forward, completely unaffected.
Bright red blood dripped onto the floor, blooming like enchanting, seductive flowers.
The olive trees in the courtyard were still a deep green, and the sound of a harp drifted from the distance, carrying with it a low, chanting voice.
