The incessant murmuring sounded like ridicule to Loseweisse’s ears.
If she initially just disliked and felt disgust toward Qin Chu, now she harbored hatred and resentment.
On the other side, Natiya’s expression was equally strange – a mix of surprise, curiosity and a hint of jealousy.
Angelica herself was stunned at being chosen, her face flushed red as she grew flustered under the suspicious glances from all directions – a gaze she hadn’t endured in so long.
Qin Chu’s grasp on her delicate hand sent tingles coursing through her body, his warmth driving away the cold ache as if imparting a reassuring temperature.
The Touch of Lust took effect again, stirring intense urges within Angelica.
Slightly parted lips, misty eyes, her body’s peculiar reactions and sudden discomposure left her temporarily unable to respond.
Qin Chu merely smiled gently. “Fair, beautiful lady, will you marry me?”

Angelica’s throat bobbed as Qin Chu anticipated – though deceived once by Loseweisse, Angelica was no fool.
Recovering from her brief shock, Angelica quickly regained composure, astutely sensing this as an opportunity to escape Loseweisse’s clutches.
Even if this man only desired her body, any chance to break free from Loseweisse’s control, from the humiliation, bullying, beatings and torment – Angelica would gladly give her pure body to him tonight…
Her mental and physical states were already nearing breakdown. Like a drowning person, Angelica desperately grasped at this lifeline, willing to take the gamble!
Taking a deep breath, Angelica mustered all her courage, parting her rosy lips. “I…I will…”
“No, I do not consent…” A slightly shrill voice suddenly interjected.
It was Loseweisse.
That exquisite face still bore traces of distortion, her tender cheeks flushing red then pale, eyes bulging as if about to split at the corners.
Buried in their depths raged fury and hatred.
Finally standing, Qin Chu narrowed his gaze at Loseweisse, his lips curving slightly. “Oh? Why does the holy maiden not consent?”
“I proposed to Angelica, it has nothing to do with you, does it?”
Gulp…
Loseweisse swallowed hard, her fair face paling momentarily.
Just a knee-jerk reaction seeing Angelica about to accept, speaking out hastily without considering her words carefully. But the clever Loseweisse quickly suppressed her anger, her eyes brightening with the answer.
“Hero, please do not misunderstand.”
“At this banquet are many princesses, ladies and nuns. I won’t stop you from favoring any of them. But Angelica is absolutely forbidden.”
Cleverly, Loseweisse dragged all the other women except Angelica into the fray, clearly implying that if she disrupted the hero proposing to Angelica, they all had a chance.
Some ladies regained hope from her words, their eyes glimmering.
Though this man seemed ordinary compared to princes and noble sons, he was the hero – carrying endless allure. Any woman becoming the hero’s lover would see her status soar.
In an instant, countless glances toward Angelica filled with hostility.
Looks of disdain, enmity, even murderous intent made Angelica bite her lip as she trembled.
Loseweisse truly was formidable, rallying every woman present besides Angelica with just a few words.
Unsurprised, Qin Chu merely asked curiously, “Why not Angelica?”
“Because…this woman was once a holy maiden candidate at the Sacred Church. But during the selection process, she cast an evil curse on the other candidates.”
“She is a bad woman!”
Angelica paled as if struck by lightning, the color draining from her pretty face as her golden eyes became hollow and despairing!
Even if Qin Chu favored Angelica, surely he would reconsider upon learning how vile and unclean she was?
Which made Loseweisse the most likely choice.
Stepping forward, Loseweisse gently grasped Qin Chu’s hand, gazing up at him with bright, flickering eyes full of lingering affection. “There are many outstanding girls here. Though the oracle says the hero and I are destined lovers, as long as you are happy choosing another, Loseweisse will bless you.”
“But Angelica is unacceptable. She has served me for three years, yet her wicked nature remains unchanged. If she becomes your lover, I fear she may revert to her old ways.”
“If the hero suffers any harm, Loseweisse would be most distraught.”
No one could resist this ploy.
Even Lord Jie Luo, though initially rejecting her, Loseweisse could sense his fondness.
The insignificant Qin Chu would be powerless against it.
This clinched her victory.
