49. Appeasement
“I’m going to kill him.”
Calysia had agreed with her Little Vassal to wake up at 2 PM and go together to construct the teleportation magic circle to return to the Dragon Realm, to her warm little bedroom in the palace, filled with treasures, where the two of them could continue their relationship under the covers, sharing their innermost thoughts.
Now, she should still be in a sweet dream.
She dreamed that Reina had laid an egg for her, one dragon egg was hatching, and another was still in Reina’s belly.
But not long after, Calysia was “awakened” by a surge of magic power.
What was even more unacceptable was that the magic power had brushed past Reina.
After realizing that the magic power came from Gold Scale, Calysia was furious. She couldn’t tolerate anyone harboring ill intentions towards her vassal.
So, dragging her not-fully-rested body, she happened to encounter her Little Vassal, who had just finished cooking.
Just as she was about to rush out of the villa, Reina grabbed her wrist.
“Master, let’s eat first. Gold Scale poses no threat to me.”
“Is that so? [Gold Scale] is questioning my authority, the importance of my decisions. Moreover, he wanted to harm you… I’m going to execute him right now.”
Reina was greatly surprised.
In her memory, Calysia had never been this angry.
Whether before or now, she had always maintained a gentle, elegant, and somewhat lazy demeanor, as if everything was under control—which was indeed the case. Calysia possessed the strongest individual combat ability in the world, so her emotions were usually subdued. She was typically unambitious and even a little naive.
But now, she was actually losing control of her anger.
In reality, Reina didn’t want to stop Calysia from killing Gold Scale.
But she had a better way to utilize him.
It was worth noting that if Gold Scale died, and the news spread throughout the world, the covetous beastmen and their king would definitely set their sights on the dragon race’s treasures.
This was also the reason why Reina wanted to recruit Gold Scale in the first place.
For the sake of her plan, Reina gritted her teeth and decided to try and stop Calysia:
“Compared to these trivial matters, the food I made will get cold. It won’t be as delicious then.”
To Reina’s surprise, Calysia actually stopped and didn’t leave, but she was clearly still angry… Calysia actually listened to her.
Seeing this, Reina clasped her hands behind her back and smiled sweetly:
“The beef and lamb in this village are quite fresh and taste very good. Master will definitely like them~”
“Oh…”
Hearing the word “Master,” Calysia’s anger finally began to subside. She looked at the large plate of roasted whole lamb on the table and couldn’t help but anticipate its taste.
Good, the plan worked.
Calysia really was a dummy. A few words of “Master” and a bit of coaxing, and she obediently listened~
Reina pondered.
From now on, she might be able to use this method to manipulate the Dragon King into becoming her subordinate—this thought was quickly dismissed by Reina.
Then, Reina began to debone and carve the roasted lamb, neatly placing the crispy, protein-rich pieces of lamb onto Calysia’s plate.
“Master’s body is still weak. Leave the matter of Gold Scale to me,” Reina said with a smile, seeing that Calysia had calmed down.
“Is he a pawn?”
“Yes, he still has great value, especially regarding the orcs.”
Compared to Crimson Scale, who focused on territory, Gold Scale, a dragon who valued individual strength above all else, wasn’t that difficult to deal with. This was also why Reina disapproved of the Dragon King’s lone wolf style.
Calysia thought for a moment and replied:
“I was a bit impulsive.”
“But as long as Reina tells me he has no more use, or if he poses a threat to you again… I will not hesitate to kill him.”
“Master Calysia, don’t think about work while you’re eating, or I’ll be angry.”
If Reina got angry, she wouldn’t warm her bed. So, Calysia adjusted her mood and obediently ate her meal. She really liked the feeling of Reina’s warm, fragrant scent filling the bed.
Calysia carefully picked up a piece of roasted meat and put it in her mouth, chewing cautiously at first, subconsciously wary of the bones, but after a few seconds, she ate boldly without any hesitation.
Because Reina wouldn’t leave a single bone for Calysia; she would replenish each piece of meat Calysia ate immediately. Calysia reached out her hand. As expected, a cup of freshly brewed fruit tea with ice cubes was placed in her hand. She took a sip, the refreshing coolness dissipating the last of her anger.
Calysia spent the entire afternoon elegantly enjoying her delicious lunch.
For a moment, Reina felt that Calysia was quite cute.
Calysia knew nothing about the letter, nor did she care about Ann and the Dragon Knights. All she cared about was Reina’s safety.
After finishing her meal, Calysia was completely awake. She sat on the sofa, sipping the milk tea Reina had prepared, and picked up a storybook she liked to enjoy after lunch.
Reina, after cleaning the dining room, sat on the sofa, intending to explain her plan:
“Master Calysia, I have a way to infiltrate the human world, and I’m currently trying to implement it.”
If she didn’t say it today, Calysia would eventually find out about Reina’s plan, so it was better to tell her in advance to avoid any future trouble.
“Mm~”
Calysia nodded and gave Reina a gentle look.
“Aren’t you interested?”
Calysia smiled sweetly:
“I trust Little Vassal’s judgment. Besides, you’ve already called me Master, how can I not trust you~?”
Reina didn’t dare look into Calysia’s eyes.
Lately, Calysia seemed to have been calling her “Little Vassal.” She hadn’t been able to accept this name at first, but as time went on, she had actually gotten used to it.
…Could this be the legendary “love grows over time”?
Unfortunately, she had no feelings for Calysia, only a desire to scold this dummy.
But considering that Calysia hadn’t discovered her ambitions, didn’t know about the existence of the [Place of Prayer], didn’t know about the false identity scheme, and had been obedient just now,
And more importantly, she had even offered to kill a [Demon Moon] to protect her,
In conclusion, she wasn’t going to make things difficult for Calysia today.
Just doing her duty as a maid was enough.
It was self-consolation for deceiving Calysia.
“Reina, the purple Divine Sea Pearl suits you better now~”
Reina just nodded. She noticed that Calysia’s voice was gradually becoming lazy, as if she was about to fall asleep. So, she quickly made a cup of coffee and handed it to Calysia.
“It feels so good to have Little Vassal as my personal maid~”
Reina tilted her head slightly and smiled, lifting her skirt and performing a maid’s curtsy, her face shy, warm, and sweet.
“This is my duty, Master.”
Calysia was momentarily entranced.
She decided to imprint this scene in her mind, never to forget it.
As expected, Reina was just like the [Divine Sea Pearl].
With enough effort, she could be tamed.
“Unfortunately, she had no feelings for Calysia, only a desire to scold this dummy.” Reina lied as easily as she breathed lol
She didn’t lied, she just in denial of her feelings
