163. The Cure
“Oh…?”
Reina was originally a little hopeful, until Mura got a little closer.
“I just wanted to sit here a little longer. The President won’t mind, will she?”
If it were the Reina from half a month ago, she probably wouldn’t have “fallen for it.” Now she completely understood.
This was completely treating her as a dependent, just like Agnes before.
For a moment, she regretted saving Mura.
She needed a loyal dark elf subordinate, to maintain contact, transmit information, control the dark elves, and, like other races, to act as a spy. Not a little girl who was always thinking about staying by her side!
But being too cold right now would make the master-servant relationship look bad.
So, Reina made a little compromise.
“You can, I don’t mind. We’ll discuss the elves’ matters later, and also, the reconstruction of the [God’s Tree].”
Reina began to explain the upcoming work.
Mura became incredibly serious at this point, and then quickly stood up, her face full of determination. For a moment, Reina felt that having this subordinate wasn’t so bad. This way, she would definitely be much more relaxed.
But Mura didn’t seem to have any intention of leaving just yet. She remembered something and sat down again.
…Please, my eyes will be useless soon, and then I’ll have to have someone come and get me.
Reina shook her head helplessly, regretting calling her master back.
This way, she could probably share some of the burden, and she could carefree lie in bed and sing to the dragon egg… Of course, Reina knew that dragon eggs couldn’t talk, but every time she saw that cute little thing, she couldn’t help but see it as a “living being.”
However, there were still some things she had to do herself to feel at ease.
Especially the Shadow of God.
Now it seemed that the so-called “Shadow of God” was just a product of Light’s obsession. She wanted to prove to everyone that she was right… like acting spoiled.
Therefore,
Reina couldn’t possibly kill Light, but unfortunately, her current strength didn’t allow her to fight Light head-on, not to mention the Necrolord and Dragon Slayer… It could be said that the threat was quite large.
Especially Dragon Slayer.
A body immune to magic, leaving no room for attack.
And her own highest combat power, including Agnes, couldn’t guarantee a complete victory… And besides, ideally, Reina didn’t want her child to participate in such cruel work.
“Lady Dragon Queen.”
Suddenly, a tired voice pulled Reina out of the hall of her thoughts.
It was Sophia.
She was wearing a red top today, paired with a white lace skirt. Her long silver hair was adorned with two bat-shaped hair clips, which made her look somewhat cute.
But her face was pale, and she was physically weak.
Reina suddenly remembered the matter Agnes had entrusted to her.
—To heal Sophia.
This person had been cursed by Peter and hadn’t been discovered for several months.
But theoretically, as long as a close person could share a bed with her, even if it was just physical contact, they should be able to discover it.
Could it be that everyone around Sophia was Peter’s spy?
No…
This person probably hadn’t had physical contact with anyone at all, a “germaphobe” in the truest sense of the word.
Of course, for now, these were just guesses.
“Miss Blood Queen.”
Reina nodded and forced a smile.
Since being protected by the dragon race, the blood race had basically become a vassal state.
Fortunately, the blood race itself had no objections.
Most people just wanted to live a good life, and now, although the blood race was not as good as in its heyday, at least it was better than before… Sophia was also a bona fide “honest person.” According to observations, she was more focused on improving the lives of the blood race commoners than on becoming independent.
She had almost succeeded.
But Reina didn’t dislike honest people.
Compared to those who liked to have ulterior motives, this kind of person was easier to control.
Sophia seemed to have noticed the situation between Reina and Mura and deliberately sat a little further away, about two meters from Reina. In contrast, Mura… was about to stick to her!
“Little sister Reina, good evening…”
Sophia smiled as usual.
Like a patient whose soul had been drained, she didn’t look as energetic as before.
Reina suddenly felt a little guilty.
If Sophia hadn’t come herself, Reina might have even forgotten about this matter.
To avoid any problems, Reina could only stand up.
“Let’s go to the infirmary.”
“Thank you for your trouble…”
To ensure that Norville itself was a reliable defensive building, there were ample food, water, and various medical equipment provided by the Four Realms. There were even many safe houses built with Cone Alloy, although they weren’t very useful against enemies of the dragon’s level.
The infirmary was much smaller than the dragon race’s sanatorium. After all, it was just a small room in a building the size of the Dragon King’s Palace… occupying an area of 1000 square meters, with 10 single rooms providing care, and there were four such care facilities in the entire Norville Castle.
Sophia was taken to one of the rooms, and after taking off her shoes, she lay quietly on the hospital bed. Reina found a stool and sat by the bed.
During this time, Mura followed behind, and it was unknown what her intentions were.
Lying in bed, Sophia was restless, sometimes pursing her lips, sometimes frowning slightly.
“Little sister Reina, I’m very sorry about Peter. I didn’t know he would toy with my trust like this. He was clearly one of the most senior blood race members.”
“Who doesn’t have a little ambition?” Reina said half-jokingly.
She extended her hand. She didn’t need to touch her body to sense what was wrong. If magic of various attributes was presented with different effects using magic power, then light magic, which was independent of ordinary magic, directly used the most basic magic particles.
So, as long as Reina wanted to, she could see what was wrong with Sophia’s body and solve it without using the [Eye of Light].
Reina frowned slightly.
This wasn’t a powerful curse. It could even be broken in an afternoon. It wasn’t hidden, and it even left curse marks on the body.
Compared to her own “Dragon Mark” curse, this kind of thing was child’s play.
But if it took effect, it could even easily kill a high-ranking demon.
Because the curse attacked the soul.
“The time, was it probably the Battle of Eisentapha a few months ago…”
Reina said.
“Yes, at that time, Peter and I did have a chance to be in contact. It was probably during the evacuation that I was hit by the prepared curse…”
“Little sister Reina, how is the situation…?”
“…”
Reina didn’t know how to answer.
First, Sophia could remain conscious all thanks to Agnes’s light magic, which had restricted the spread of the curse. But this curse had already become a wildfire, difficult to extinguish. Even if it was temporarily controlled, she couldn’t escape the fate of being burned to ashes.
Peter was completely aiming to kill Sophia.
“There is a cure.”
Reina wagged her tail:
“With my magic, I can transform your soul.”
