17. Reaching a Consensus
At this moment, the Demon Moons, the Colossi, and the Blood Race Princes all entered, standing guard around the ancient castle like sentinels.
In front of this crowd, she openly protected the Saintess, and yet no one voiced any objections. Reina felt quite proud of herself.
However, it was also understandable—since the Battle of Eisentapha, the orcs had been wary of her. If she guessed correctly, some had even started studying her fighting style, intending to annihilate her in the next battle and crush the dragon race’s morale. But unfortunately for them, they would probably never get the chance.
Just then, the Saintess, feeling nervous, actually approached the Dragon King and Reina.
She seemed to have noticed something, glanced at Reina’s tail and wings, and asked with confusion:
“Dragon Queen, have we met before?”
“An illusion,” Reina gave her a cold look.
The Saintess lowered her head.
“…Alright… Goddess of Light, you’re not willing to come with me…”
A tear rolled down the Saintess’s cheek, as if she had suffered a great setback. Reina suddenly shouted, broadcasting her voice:
“Whose child is lost? Golden hair, golden eyes, come to the castle to claim her immediately!”
She hadn’t even brought a few of her trusted priests with her, coming to Phantom Island alone. Should she be called a fool, or incredibly brave?
But soon, Reina felt that something was wrong.
Above the castle, a giant golden bell suddenly appeared and tolled, emitting a powerful light attribute magic that filled the dazzling night sky. This power was gentle, completely different from the spells used in battle, and it didn’t cause the demons any discomfort.
Reina turned around and found that outside the castle, the sound of heavy armor was approaching on the steps. Reina was very familiar with this sound—it was the Holy Knight Legion!
Logically, the Saintess shouldn’t have been able to mobilize the Holy Knights.
How on earth did she get these guys to come here?
The Holy Knights, numbering over 2000, formed a powerful procession on the steps. At this moment, the Beast King Colossus let out a huge grunt:
“It’s humans, so many humans, so dazzling…”
“Hahahahaha—!”
The Beast King Kritz slapped his thigh and laughed like a drunkard:
“So this is humanity, what a respectable opponent! Look, my dear brother Kribi!”
“I won the bet!”
The one known as Kribi, the Beast King’s brother, [Court Statue], shook his head.
About three minutes later, the two leaders of the Holy Knights entered the castle.
One was a middle-aged man with black hair, Cardinal Edinburgh. He was slightly overweight, the marks of time etched on his face. The other was Cardinal Lis, her tall figure draped in a gorgeous golden robe, her thighs covered by white tights that revealed her graceful curves, her solemn and beautiful face almost devoid of emotion, her high hat making her appear somewhat strict amidst her holiness.
The three of them said in unison:
“May the Light be with us.”
Just then, the Saintess behind Reina had disappeared. She had, at some point, moved to the center of the castle, her somewhat fearful and petite face gone, replaced by maturity and authority:
“I hereby declare, Kings of the Four Realms, that humanity has the right to participate in this meeting.”
“This world originally belonged to humanity.”
“According to the will of the Goddess of Light, I will, sooner or later, take this world from your hands.”
Reina was startled: Has this little girl been deceiving me from the very beginning?
She had pretended to be weak and fragile, yet she dared to speak so arrogantly in front of the Four Kings of the Realms.
Who gave her the courage?
It definitely wasn’t me…
“Hahahahaha—!”
The Beast King slapped his thigh again. He was the first to step forward and extend his hand to the Saintess:
“I, the Beast King, accept your challenge!”
The Saintess looked slightly embarrassed, completely ignoring the Beast King.
Sophia held her forehead:
“What a farce.”
Calysia covered her mouth and chuckled: “This human girl is so cute~”
Compared to the Saintess’s courage, Reina was more concerned about the Cardinals.
These two were plotting to overthrow the Saintess yesterday, and today they were helping her?
But it also made sense.
It concerned the future of humanity, so they would naturally lend a hand.
No matter how insidious and cunning these two were, they still adhered to their own set of righteousness. Even with conflicts of interest, being able to sit on the Cardinal’s seat meant they were not to be trifled with.
And the Saintess had mentioned a speech to Reina before. It seemed to have had quite an effect.
Following the Holy Knights were the priests of the Saintess’s faction. They formed the main backup force, and it was mostly thanks to them that they were able to travel through mountains and rivers and arrive at the scene in just a few days. Reina once again silently thanked Calysia for learning “Greater Teleportation Magic.”
Of course, after Reina learned about the dragons’ unique abilities, she gradually discovered that the so-called Greater Teleportation Magic might not be as practical as simply flying.
Just then, Calysia stepped forward and said to the Saintess:
“I admire humanity, but the Goddess of Light is also my treasure. Please don’t take her away.”
Reina’s mind went blank, then quickly filled with anger.
Calysia is still thinking about that woman!!
But she quickly realized that this statement was directed at the orcs.
But Reina still couldn’t stand it. Even if it had nothing to do with her, she couldn’t accept Calysia’s teasing. In a corner no one could see, she used her tail to pinch Calysia’s thigh tightly and lightly bit her arm, making a fierce expression.
If she really betrayed her, even if there was just a hint of it, Reina would definitely make Calysia regret it!
Calysia feigned pain, patted Reina’s head, and only then did Reina’s soft “purr” subside slightly.
At this moment, the Saintess’s pupils dilated. She glanced at Reina and then at Calysia, as if understanding something, and nodded—did this Agnes actually agree to it?
“Good girl~”
Seeing Agnes’s obedience, Calysia smiled gently.
Only Reina was left gritting her teeth.
—These two have definitely reached some strange consensus!
Suddenly, a purple light descended from the still-operating stone discs above.
The purple light landed in the center of the meeting hall, gradually forming a purple phantom, and then condensed into a humanoid form—or rather, a dark elf.
The Dark Elf Queen.
“Tris, you’re late,” [Court Statue] Kribi said.
The woman named Tris nodded apologetically.
—It was this woman who had called for the meeting of the Four Kings of the Realms not long ago.
Even though everyone was still in a tense standoff, hearing that this king, who was well-versed in forbidden magic, had so urgently summoned everyone to a meeting, the Four Kings of the Realms all came.
Everyone knew that she must have prophesied something.
“The future, what exactly happened?” Sophia asked.
The Dark Elf Queen touched her heaving chest and took a deep breath:
“I… saw the future…”
“The world is in danger.”
“Everyone… will perish.”
