39. Suspicion
To prevent her clone from being infused with magic power and becoming mentally submissive, thus completely corrupting her main body, Reina’s clone had no choice but to close her eyes, interlace her fingers, and begin to pray.
During prayer, Reina’s mind would clear, and all resentment and hatred would dissipate with the wind. In that quiet, “superego” state, Reina could find the reason for her existence. Usually, when being pampered by Calysia, she would relax and not be consumed by her feelings for Calysia.
As long as her clone “held on,” she wouldn’t be mentally submissive and wouldn’t become Calysia’s little darling wife.
But prayer required a quiet environment.
But every time Calysia took her and pampered her, the sound of gurgling water would bring her back to the reality of what was happening. Her thoughts were like being bound by an invisible chain to the secular world, never able to reach that “superego” state.
She was pinned against the wall by Calysia, and even her praying hands were blocked by Calysia’s soft body.
“May the Light purify my body…”
“May… ah, mmph♡, purify, mm! My… body, mmph♡”
The more she prayed, the more Reina felt her body become uncontrollable.
She subconsciously stuck out her tongue, and at that moment, Calysia gently took it into her mouth. Now, she couldn’t even make the sound of prayer.
Although she couldn’t react for a moment, Reina knew that if this continued, she would be corrupted!
But at this critical moment, Calysia stopped, not going any deeper into Reina’s fragile parts.
She lay panting in the corner, somewhat unconscious.
The good news was that most of the sensations were inherited by her main body, and her clone wasn’t too affected. Therefore, there was no strange smell in the room… but in Reina’s main body’s office, a sweet fragrance had already filled the air.
Reina’s main body had been busy writing documents. Knowing that she had been taken, she hurriedly began to tidy the room. The lingering aftereffects in her body made it impossible for her to continue working, so she left Norville Castle and returned to the Dragon King’s Palace, intending to soak herself in water.
After everything was settled, she looked at Calysia, who was sitting beside her, hugging her thighs with a satisfied expression, and said angrily:
“Little Cal, you can’t be so idle now, can you?”
“And since I left my main body, isn’t there no one to protect the dragon egg in my belly?”
“Do you call this a good performance?”
But Calysia didn’t look like she had done anything wrong.
She said aggrievedly:
“There’s a barrier protecting it over there…”
“And I thought you meant that this side needed help…”
“Then, shall I go back?”
Reina covered her head, shook it, not knowing what to say.
She did mean that.
If she had a helper of Calysia’s level for every action, then all problems would no longer be problems.
This Little Cal, doesn’t she want to take advantage of me from both sides, taking both my bodies?
Thinking about it carefully, she felt it was quite normal.
The dragon race was originally a race that valued love, and a private meeting could indeed arouse certain emotions in her. And besides, wasn’t it normal? Calysia was just an innocent, simple-minded little girl.
She was forgiven.
To prevent Reina from getting too angry, Calysia continued to explain:
“Actually, we came a long time ago and have been waiting for you. I had no choice but to ask where you were…”
Reina glanced at the time and realized that it was almost dinnertime in the afternoon.
It seemed that purifying her body still took a lot of time.
She had originally wanted to scold Calysia for having no sense of time, but she stopped.
“No need, since you’re already here… how’s the progress?”
Calysia nodded seriously, called the two people outside in, and began to negotiate.
After a few minutes of discussion, Reina roughly understood the cause and effect.
First, a mysterious conflict had occurred in the theocratic nation a while ago. It was said to have been a fight between the Cardinals, but later, the Holy Knights reconciled.
The reason it was called “mysterious” was because although none of the Holy Knights were injured, Bishop Paris had mysteriously disappeared.
Then, the theocratic nation fell into a strange state.
No one was willing to go out to work, and everyone was acting strange, as if they had a mental illness. And this strange symptom not only made people strange but was also contagious. And now, a large number of people had contracted this strange disease, and even Cardinal Edinburgh hadn’t escaped.
The order in the theocratic nation was in chaos, the streets were empty, and the surviving humans dared not go out after seeing the “patients” on the streets.
And fortunately, this “virus” could only spread among humans.
All the succubus priests and succubus nuns survived, and many people had come into contact with the “patients” without being “infected.” But to be safe, Ann ordered the succubi to hide and not to have any contact with those strange humans.
“Let’s investigate together, just the four of us,” Reina said.
“In this situation, isn’t it better to act separately?” Ann tilted her head.
“No…”
“In horror movies, the protagonist’s accident often starts with ‘acting alone’.”
Although this was far from a horror movie, just in case.
“This time, it’s most likely the Shadow of God’s conspiracy.”
Reina shook her head, rejecting the Saintess’s suggestion:
“You are all high-level members of the [God Slaying Society], your strength is unquestionable, but the enemy is unknown.”
“If we can’t solve it, we’ll ask for more support from the God Slaying Society tomorrow.”
“We must find out the cause of this catastrophe.”
The other three nodded, and the operation began. At the same time, Reina’s main body also started preparing dinner for Calysia and herself, hoping to find some clues within a few hours.
But reality was always disappointing.
The four of them investigated together for a whole night, practically turning the entire theocratic nation upside down, but they didn’t find any clues. They didn’t even find any trace of the [Shadow of God].
As for the out-of-control humans, they probably only accounted for one percent of the total population, but they often gathered in conspicuous places, spreading panic and making everyone anxious.
Reina still couldn’t think of a good solution to this.
At around 8 o’clock, Reina decisively gave the order to disperse.
Calysia would go home, and Ann would return to her dormitory in Norville Castle.
The next day, she would have the [God Slaying Society] thoroughly investigate this matter.
At around 9 o’clock, Calysia and Reina’s main body were already having dinner, enjoying a candlelight dinner, while the Saintess’s clone was also chatting in Bishop Lei’s church… To ensure that nothing unexpected happened to the Saintess, Reina requested that the Saintess keep a certain distance from her at night.
The reason she didn’t send her back to the God Slaying Society was because she felt that this child needed some “guidance.”
So, the two of them rested on a bench in the corner of the church. Agnes lay beside Reina. Unlike the Light Clone, she didn’t need to sleep.
But just as Reina was about to withdraw her attention and enter [standby mode], she heard the Saintess’s half-asleep words.
“I feel like the Goddess of Light is a lot like the Dragon Queen…”
Reina was startled, but remained calm on the surface:
“Why?”
The Saintess opened one eye and said playfully in a low voice:
“Although your voice and appearance are different, you’re both like the Dragon Queen, with clear thoughts and a clear direction. And it feels like the Dragon King and the dragon race also obey you.”
“Could it be that you’re the same person?”
Don’t shoot Agnes down, this is her chance for her otp to be realized!
