58. Change
As Kribi struck, the surrounding orc lackeys all fearfully took a few steps back. His status and strength were evident. Unfortunately, Reina didn’t see any signs of a stereo system on him.
He stepped forward and bowed respectfully to Agnes.
—In his eyes, both Ann and Reina were humans. The only one he knew was the Saintess.
“How is the situation now, Mr. Kribi?” the Saintess asked.
Kribi scratched his head, crossed his arms, and said angrily, looking at Reina in the wheelchair:
“What situation could there be? Fred will never talk. Only the Dragon King can completely annihilate that guy.”
“And the Dragon King? I remember she even called upon Her Majesty Queen Sophia?”
“Hehe, she often leaves Norville Castle, but it shouldn’t take more than an hour for her to arrive.”
Hearing this, Reina’s heart skipped a beat: Damn it, how could I have forgotten!
She had just personally instructed Little Cal to invite Sophia to interrogate Fred. She never thought Calysia would carry it out so quickly, and even run into her clone. Was this just a coincidence? Reina fell into deep thought, starting to think about how to deal with Calysia’s “surprise attack.”
Ann pushed Reina into the [Hundred-Layer Purgatory], and the others followed close behind.
The Hundred-Layer Purgatory was huge, with four different entrances. Its exterior resembled a giant black air-raid shelter, and the material used was some special black alloy. The interior was a maze-like, winding space, each wall made of layers of hard material, the unique structure and metal playing a crucial role.
The group passed through countless isolation doors and arrived at the “mechanism” in the center of the maze, a circular platform. Then, after Kribi pressed a button, the entire platform began to descend like an elevator—a mechanism elevator.
It had to be said, if this were a game where the Four Kings of the Realms joined forces, there would be no individual or force that could stand against them. Perhaps only the Goddess of Light could sanction such exaggerated production capacity and technological power.
In just a few days, they could build a castle as tall as a mountain, and a giant fortress a thousand meters deep.
This was also why Reina didn’t feel much of a psychological gap after coming to this world. Technology was developing from different angles and in different forms. As for architectural limitations, perhaps only geographical and material factors existed, which also led to countless strange and magnificent buildings, the [Hundred-Layer Purgatory] being one of them.
After the elevator stopped, Reina could clearly feel the surrounding temperature rising.
Ann pushed the wheelchair forward, following the red flame indicator lights, through a narrow corridor, and arrived at a station-like, office-like narrow space. Reina briefly sensed her surroundings and found… Liya, White Scale, Sophia, the cat girl Holsey, and the dark elf Mura—these high-level members of the God Slaying Society, as well as the blood race butler Peter standing to the side—plus Ann, Saintess Agnes, and Kribi behind her. Weren’t they all here?
Reina was speechless. She never thought this group of people would actually meet here. How ironic.
Everyone looked at each other, all feeling quite awkward.
“Oh~ you’re here too?”
The one who asked was White Scale.
“Did everyone get some new clues?” Liya asked.
Sophia nodded: “I’m waiting for Miss Dragon King. Peter showed me the way.”
“I’m waiting for Kribi, meow~” the cat girl sat on a nearby cardboard box, licking her paw.
“I got a message from the Saintess, saying there might be some progress.”
Kribi glanced at Reina in the wheelchair, and at the same time, everyone’s gaze shifted to her. Their expressions were varied. Some seemed shocked that a human could have the right to enter the [Hundred-Layer Purgatory], others noticed the [Goddess of Light]’s judgment on Reina, and some even muttered, “She smells like the President.” The situation was quite awkward.
“Is this the human the Saintess mentioned who can solve the problem…” Liya stroked her chin.
During this time, Reina had been carefully listening to everyone’s voices and tones.
After losing her sight, her hearing had been magnified several times. Or rather, her attention was entirely focused on her hearing, and she could notice many details she couldn’t before.
This way, it seemed she could see through everyone’s emotions.
Liya and White Scale didn’t care much about the Goddess of Light, so they were just curious and serious, their attitude relatively objective.
What surprised Reina was that Kribi, from the Saintess’s standpoint, firmly denied that she was the Goddess of Light. Since joining the God Slaying Society, Reina’s opinion of him had changed. Rather than a battle-hungry, arrogant muscle man, he was more like an uncle with a thoughtful mind and a sense of justice.
Sophia carefully observed Reina’s expression, as if she could see some clue.
The cat girl, Holsey, was already suspicious. As expected, those with good noses were hard to deal with.
As for the dark elf Mura…
“I’ll kill you—!”
Suddenly, Mura drew a dagger tied under her black short skirt and, thrusting it into the air, created a small magic circle. Countless ice flowers instantly bloomed around Reina’s wheelchair, and as they bloomed, countless ice spikes aimed at Reina flew over—this was a full-powered sneak attack comparable to a level 90 existence. If it were the Reina from two or three months ago, she would have probably died on the spot.
But just as the ice spikes were about to hit Reina, they were suddenly repelled and scattered on the ground. It turned out that a light had flashed from the Saintess’s body, blocking the attack for Reina.
“Damn it—!”
Seeing that her sneak attack had failed, Mura rushed forward like lightning, her speed such that she could probably slice Donald’s great hammer in half.
The Saintess was quick-witted, quickly moving in front of Reina, the light magic in her hand like a torrent, directly sending the elf flying. The latter landed gracefully, spinning in the air like a veteran assassin, but the next second, she suddenly transformed into a succubus, her eyes turning into hearts, and in front of everyone, she hypnotized Mura, who then collapsed into Sophia’s arms behind her, the farce finally ending.
Mura, not completely hypnotized, was still struggling. If Sophia hadn’t restrained her arms, she would have probably charged forward again.
“Goddess of Light, you damned thing!”
The cat girl, Holsey, jumped in front of Sophia, helping her control the agitated Mura, and comforted her: “What happened?”
“Calm down,” Liya added, and at the same time, she looked thoughtfully at Reina in the wheelchair, as if she had come to some conclusion.
Ann and the Saintess instinctively stood guard on either side of Reina.
Mura was still unmoved. Her beautiful face was filled with anger, and she struggled, saying, “She is the Goddess of Light! Damn it, even if you can’t see it, what about the Dragon King? With her strength, she must be able to discover it! This is our greatest enemy in the Four Realms!”
Kribi stood in the center, his broad body separating the battlefield:
“Then let’s wait for the Dragon King to come. Don’t jump to conclusions!”
Reina remained unmoved, maintaining a calm demeanor.
She secretly replayed the experience just now. Although she was gratified, she still broke out in a cold sweat.
In just over ten days, the God Slaying Society seemed to have become a stranger to her.
