70. Mother
After satisfying Calysia’s endless desires, Reina still went to fulfill her duties as the Dragon Queen and cook… This time, she didn’t plan to cook by herself but with Calysia. So she wouldn’t have to cook for herself when she was incubating the eggs.
So, the more agile clone was responsible for guiding Calysia, pushing this only capable person in the house to work harder. As for the main body, she sat on a chair, wearing a nightgown, and was responsible for reciting “dragon prenatal care” to guide Calysia’s recipes.
During this time, Calysia could be said to have suffered a great blow—how could she possibly master the cooking temperature exactly as Reina did, how could she control the amount of seasoning, and so on… She almost restrained herself from using her dragon breath to cook, that crude method that could burn food to a crisp.
And at these times, Reina would smile and emphasize her important role.
“Being a maid isn’t that easy, is it~”
“As expected of Reina… mmph…”
However, in the legends, dragons of the Primordial Era didn’t like this modern style of cooking. They preferred to eat their prey raw, and if it was too tough, they would roast it with their dragon breath… That was often meat weighing several tons, and it didn’t matter if the outside was a little burnt.
So, although she was guiding Calysia in cooking, in most cases, it was Reina demonstrating for Calysia, and Calysia was just an “assistant” helping Reina.
Before she knew it, a table full of dishes was ready, all seasoned to Calysia’s taste. She didn’t seem to like cheese much lately. Reina had found some cumin barbecue seasoning and black truffle from the human world, hoping Calysia would like them.
But while cooking, Reina always felt a sense of worry in her heart.
But once she tried to grasp this shadow-like thought, she couldn’t figure out what was bothering her.
After finishing cooking, Calysia pulled Reina’s main body and clone to the dining room, but with the two Reinas “surrounding” her, it was as if she were the one being served. Since the clone came to the Dragon King’s Palace, the smile on Calysia’s face hadn’t stopped.
As expected, it was better to have the clone come home more often. But if she did, she felt that something was missing.
“…”
Reina’s main body sat at the dining table, her shoulder held by Calysia, her clone standing to the side… As a projection, the clone didn’t need to consume energy.
Because of her blindness, Calysia needed to help Reina eat.
She held a small plate in one hand, and with the other, she slowly brought the delicacies made according to Reina’s prenatal care recipes to Reina’s mouth. Seemingly noticing Reina’s anxiety, Calysia said many comforting words.
But it wasn’t until that sentence was spoken that Reina remembered…
“Reina, you cooked more than usual this time.”
“…”
“Calysia, has Agnes gone back?”
“She left alone after bringing you here.”
Calysia explained.
Reina lowered her head.
“Calysia, come with me.”
“She might have already left. Are you sure?”
“I’m sure.”
…
Calysia helped Reina’s clone out of the Throne Room, across the Milky Way Bridge, and all the way to the “Crown Area.” The patrolling Dragon Knights nodded slightly in respect.
The two walked all the way to the edge of the Dragon King’s Palace.
A gust of wind made Reina a little dazed, but she still believed that her guess was probably correct. And as expected, she sensed that aura on the small grassy hill.
Reina nodded to Calysia, “You can just bring me here… wait for me here.”
She kissed Calysia’s forehead, carefully took a step onto the lawn, and walked towards the distant hillside. Calysia stood on the high ground, watching the young woman from afar.
Her long golden hair shone brightly under the bright moon, and her light blue dragon horns were like pure glaciers. Unfortunately, Reina couldn’t see this scene. She just followed her own guess and walked to the young woman.
Just then, Reina suddenly seemed to remember something and constantly sketched out the appearance of a young woman in her mind. Unfortunately, she couldn’t see the Saintess’s current appearance.
“Goddess, good evening.”
“Agnes, I’m sorry,” Reina asked, tidying her wind-blown hair.
This had to be said.
No matter what, Reina knew that her lies were unlikely to hold up… about her clone and her main body. But even so, the Saintess still waited here, waiting for the Goddess of Light, hoping she would return to the theocratic nation with her.
Thinking of this, Reina’s heart ached again.
For her own plan, she had ruthlessly deceived this Saintess, just like her Pope father, and had even used her as a tool.
Ever since she formally confessed to Calysia, Reina had become more and more ashamed of her lies, especially towards this kind human girl.
“My true identity is the Dragon King’s wife, the Dragon Queen. I’m sorry, Agnes, I’ve been hiding it from you.”
Reina said.
“I’ve always had a wish… to break free from the Dragon King’s control and, as the Goddess of Light, strengthen humanity. I think I can’t hide it from you anymore.”
The Saintess didn’t speak.
Reina’s voice was filled with shame: “If possible, I would like to formally apologize to you, but I don’t know… if you will forgive me. But if you’re willing, I can still represent the Goddess of Light, and I can also let humanity continue to develop, reclaim their territory, and have a foothold in this world again.”
“Why?” Agnes suddenly asked. “Goddess, why do you have to do this for humanity?”
Reina didn’t react for a moment.
Was this something a Saintess would say?
“Thank you, Goddess, for being honest with me. You must have gone through a long psychological struggle.”
“Goddess, give me your hand~”
The Saintess held Reina’s hand and, following it upwards, touched the Saintess’s soft, golden hair, which exuded a faint fragrance. Agnes was a cute girl, her beauty natural. In some distant world, she would definitely surpass any so-called makeup.
And just as Reina was about to praise the Saintess, she unexpectedly touched something hard… on the top of Agnes’s head.
Reina was stunned. As she continued to caress it, she discovered that there were two hard protrusions on the top of Agnes’s head, somewhat like dragon horns.
Although they were still small, there was no mistake… It didn’t just feel like horns, it was clearly horns, and dragon horns at that!
Agnes no longer hid her aura.
She once again emitted a magic power similar to Calysia’s and Reina’s.
“Saint… Agnes, you…”
Agnes smiled sweetly.
“Goddess, I’m sorry, I’ve also been hiding something from you~”
“No, now, I should call you…”
“Mother.”
